Julie: Hate to say it but it might be the make-up.

Hi Tavi! Oh no, do you think it can be the make-up?? What are the odds, I must be the only one that breaks out from the Bare Minerals, a make-up that is suppose to clear your skin up <_<

Hi Andrea :):) - I use Carlson Cod Liver Oil

That is supposed to be one of the best cod liver oils out there.

Makes me suspect the makeup even more. :(

Carrie--Yes, please don't be a stranger here! :D

Julie--It could be the makeup--but it has the opposite effect for me. I think my skin looks better since I've been using it.

Also, I would suspect the cod liver oil, only because I get face oilyness and breakouts from soy oil (Crisco). Carlson is a great brand--very pure.

Before I gave either one up, I'd try eliminating one, and then later the other and see what happens.

Could it be hormonal? I only ask because right now, my face is breaking out a little and is oiler than usual. I'm in Perimenopause (I know you're too young for that) and around the time I should get my period, whether I actually get it or not, I get symptoms that include the breakouts.

It seems like we're always trying to figure out the cause of *something*:D

Where are Carla and Morgan B. I have forgiven myself and now wonder where they are??? ;););)

I was spending some time with hubby last night. We watched a movie ...

Today is Morgan's first day of classes!!!

Well, enough skulking thorugh the R-Ville back alleys for the last few days.

Sorry I havenot spoken up much, I've been here, just not felt very well and did not feel like talking much.

Carrie -- Welcome to Rachelville, and yes you do make a beautiful Bride. I've been to PEI and I agree that the fall is the best time to go. That whole province is amazing. I hope the wedding was awesome.

Stephanie -- Please keep us updated, and I'll send some prayers your way.

Morgan and Carla -- You two always make me laugh. Carla, I hope you are not "empty nesting" too much now. Morgan, I hope classes are going well, and you can still find time to enjoy the other aspects of college life. I took 3 years of credits in 2 years, and somedays I am living to regret it.

Everyone -- I need some advice. I said I'd share, so here it goes. 3 and a half years ago when I met my wife, I was still, in the legal sense only, married. Being a dumb male, I lied and told her it was already over. Truth is I was still waiting for the paper work.

Now that I am going off to Greenland in a few months (for a whole year) she is having some trust issues. I know I brought this on myself, and she is right in some ways to not trust me. I know she loves me. I also know that she is the BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO ME!!! How can I show her I mean that, and get her to at least TRY to trust that I am coming home again.

Sorry to ramble, and sorry if that doesn't make much sense, but it is driving me crazy. I never meant to be so stupid, and I know I should have told her from day one. Especially since the first words out of her mouth on our first date was "I have a 10 year old son".

I also hope this does not getmy citizenship in Rachelville revoked. I hope you guys can help. I feel safe here.

Ha! I still have FIVE kids at home!!!! It will be quite some time before my nest is empty!

You are safe here. ;)

I would have a difficult time with my husband going away for a year ... I just watched "The Goodbye Girl" when I visited my grandmother. The boyfriend is leaving to act in a movie, and she's used to her men walking out on her and not coming back. He leaves his guitar and asks her to have it restrung, then she realized he's coming home. I know it's just a movie, but if there was some way you could show her in an important manner that she's the one and you'll be back, that might help.

Can you take her? I would think it would be a great family experience.

Honestly, I can understand how she feels, and I don't mean this in a bad or judgemental way to you, but you wanted to go knowing you'd be away for a year. That would hurt me deeply. It would hurt me knowing there was something that meant more to my husband than spending every possible moment with me. I don't really know what could make up for that ... it's a tough question and there's no clear answer. Take her with you!!!

Hi Ryan,

First, I want to say that I'm glad you feel safe here--I do, too. :)

The trust issue is a tough one. I think that it takes time to trust again once there's been a breech. You've been married/together over 3 years now, and although this is individual, she should have a good idea about how you really feel about her and your marriage by now--even with her doubts. Forgiveness, I think is easier than actually forgetting.

Keep the communication open, and while you're still home, do your best (often) to let her know how much your life together means to you. Holding things in will only confuse her, and the imagination can be a dangerous thing! Ladies like to talk things through--be patient and be available to talk when she needs to.

It goes without saying that after you are in Greenland, as often as you can/are allowed, call, write, email--stay connected. I can't emphasize that enough--stay as connected as humanly possible.

Living apart is difficult, no doubt about that, but you can come out the other side just fine.

And Ryan, don't be too hard on yourself--we've all done things in our lives that we're not proud of--we can't change what happened (no matter how much we'd like to ;) ) but we can get past it and learn from it.

I hope you stay too Carrie :):)

Patti- Thanks for your input about my break-out, I really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions :) I have taken fish oil before and not had a problem, this is just the first time I have done pure cod liver oil. I unfortunately, and I'm a little in denial about it because I wanted it to work, suspect the make-up. As I've used it more and more my face has gotten worse, it also would make my face burn a little. I am going to take your advice and eliminate the make-up for a while and see what happens.

Thanks again Tavi and Andrea for your input as well :)

Hi Carla, are you feeling any better today?

GOOD LUCK MORGAN WITH YOUR FIRST DAY OF CLASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ryan, I am not married, but I have been in a very long term relationship if that counts for anything, and I guess if I were your wife I would want to hear the words you just expressed here to us, that she is the best thing that happened to you and you will be coming home. I am big on communication, and agree with Patti, to be open and talk to her as much as possible and keep connected in any way you can.

I am like Carla, I would not like the separation either....but I would also understand that this job was very important to you and an opportunity you could not pass up, so I would make that sacrafice. But that is just me.

Carrie, you look gorgious in your picture. You're welcome in R'ville.

Wow, seems like so much is going on since I last read here. I am just here long enough to read a few and check in with everyone.

We are headed to the neurologist in PA tomorrow for my sons first visit with one since he was discharged from his stay in the hospital. They are checking him for seizures and such. I am a bit nervous about it. I just have to keep trying to think positive. I would appreciate any prayers and good thoughts. That is really the only thing going on here right now.

I hope everyone is well, and I am going to try to check here more regularly now. Take care everyone!!!

Enjoy the last bit of summer!!!

I hope that all goes well :)

Julie--Yea, if the makeup burns, and you've noticed a pattern--that must be it. I understand the "denial" aspect--I continued to eat chips that I suspected were sometimes making me sick! I really liked them, and didn't want to give them up, too. But once I did, it made a positive difference. I guess.. With me, it's hard to figure out sometimes

Morgan--Good luck today!!! :D

I'm so glad your first day is going well Morgan. I was always nervous the first day too, with each class, until I got myself there and situated- I think that's quite normal :)

Carla- what can we do to get you better?? :)

Patti- Yeah, that "denial" aspect gets us everytime, doesn't it  The more I thought about it, and went back over everything, I realized I was given little signs that the make-up wasn't working out for me, the burning especially. But did I listen? No. I kept using it thinking it's going to improve, or the burning must be something else. Oh well, we live and learn I guess

@catnapt,  Wheat germ contains high amounts of lectins which are really hard to digest and can be irritating to the digestive tract.  They can stimulate IgG antibody production as your blood test shows.   Even beans have lectins.  You've simply eaten too many lectins and irritated your digestive tract.   You may want to allow your digestive tract to rest for a week, then start on gluten in "normal" food, not in concentrated vital wheat gluten. This explains it well: Lectins, agglutinins, and their roles in autoimmune reactivities https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25599185/

I take Now B-1 (100 mg) Thiamine Hydrochloride, and Amazing Formulas L-Tryptophan (1000 mg).   Both are gluten free and free of other allergens.  I've taken them for a long time and haven't had a problem with them. I take Vitamin A from BioTech called "A-25".  It's gluten and allergen free and made in the USA.  It's a powder form of Vitamin A.  I was having trouble digesting fats at one point, but found I tolerated the powder form much better and have stuck with it since.   Tryptophan and Vitamin A help heal the intestines as well as improves skin health.  I get Dermatitis Herpetiformis and eczema flairs when my stomach is upset.  So I'm healing the outside as well as the inside.   I take one 1000 mg Tryptophan before bedtime.   With the Thiamine HCl, take 100 mg to start.  If you don't notice anything, three hours later take another. You can keep increasing your dose in this manner until you do notice improvement.  Remember not to take it in the evening so it won't keep you too energized to sleep. When I first started Thiamine HCl, taking 500 mg to 1000 mg to start was recommended.  If you've been thiamine insufficient for a while, you do notice a big difference.  It's like the start of a NASCAR race: Zoom, Zoom, turn it up!   This scared or made some people uncomfortable, but it's just your body beginning to function properly, like putting new spark plugs in your engine.  I took 1000 mg all at once without food.  It kicked in beautifully, but I got a tummy ache, so take with food.  I added in Thiamine TTFD and Benfotiamine weeks later and felt like I was Formula One racing.  So cool.  You may feel worse for a couple days as your body adjusts to having sufficient thiamine.  Feels sort of like you haven't cranked your engine for a while and it backfires and sputters, but it will settle down and start purring soon enough.  Adjust your dose to what feels right for you, increasing your dose as long as you feel improvement.  You can reach a plateau, so stay there for several days, then try bumping it up again.  If no more improvements happen, you can stay at the plateau amount and experiment with increasing your Thiamine TTFD.  It's like being your own lab rat.  LoL Yes, take one Benfotiamine at breakfast and one at lunch.  Take the B Complex at breakfast. Take the TTFD at breakfast and lunch as well.  I like to take the vitamins at the beginning of meals and the NeuroMag at the end of meals.   You may want to add in some zinc.  I take Thorne Zinc 30 mg at breakfast at the beginning of the meal.   Are you getting sufficient Omega Threes?  Our brains are made up mostly of fat.  Flaxseed oil supplements, sunflower seed oil supplements (or eat the seeds themselves) can improve that.  Cooking with extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil is also helpful.   @Wheatwacked likes phosphotidyl choline supplements for his Omega Threes.  He's also had dramatic health improvement by supplementing thiamine.  You're doing great!  Thank you for sharing your journey with us.  This path will smooth out.  Keep going!

good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.
    • catnapt
I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.

What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks
