I've been meaning to start a food diary since I got my IgG results back a few weeks ago, and never got round to it.

I was just wondering what symptoms you put down, how often you assess yourself through the day etc, how you know if something is just normal, or may be due to food?

I still feel a total fraud for even trying this (Had the IgG antibody test, and wheat/gluten and dairy came up really high, amongst about 10 other things - someone mentioned leaky gut?) - cos I don't have anything like what you lot have (thankfully). I'm 26 - if I did not do the gluten thing, is this something tht would just get worse (I have no probs with excluding gluten at the moment - apart from bread! Seem to have got over most of my cravings)? Like someone else posted, I just thought I was someone who just had lots of gas, random D, mildish depression, horrible migraines etc, and I'm having a hard time convincing myself that I'm not just making this gluten thing up in a hypochondriac kinda way! I know what the test results said etc, so I;m going to do it (so far cutting out wheat/gluten/dairy and eggs - was also doing yeast as that came up, then forgot and had beef in red wine - was the only thing on there anyway without any of the other things in them!).

Seem to have eaten out a lot lately (unusually so!) and it's been driving me mad trying to find something I can have!

So yeah, after all the rambling - what type of things should i put in my diary. Migraines, obvious. Do you gauge the softness of you poo?! random tummy pains? acne? how happy you feel (felt bizarrely happy last few days, putting it down to having my own music on in the lab where I work, quite loud as noone else is here!)

I put all kinds of symptoms in my food diary from random fevers, sore joints, to the big D. Amazingly, I realized after I had figured out all those foods, due to the diary, my sore joints were gone - I thought it was arthritis from my mid-20's but it tured out to be food. My fevers were linked to yeast so you never really know.

I work with someone whose wife gets migrains from a certain type of preservative...just can't remember which one right now.

Hi Sara,

Basically I had three symptoms before I had my main development of Celiac Disease. They were bloating, gas, and D. I had these symptoms for almost 10 years. Because I never felt sick I never sought treatment for these symptoms. I thought everyone got D like this. I found out after I started losing weight because of intestine damage and malabsorption that the culprit was gluten. After a positive biopsy last year I went gluten free for the first time in my life. The random/chronic D that I had completely disappeared. It has "never" returned. I realize now that any D is not normal if it lasts more than a day or so. D is the body's response to something it does not like. I know I am beginning to sound like a broken record but I would be really surprised if I ever have symptoms like this again for any length of time. I may develop some other food intolerance one day but until then I will continue to eat everything but gluten . My body is telling me it does not mind anything else at this time.

As for your question about "poo" I only know my stools are always formed and I don't really worry too much about hard/soft. I would be more concerned if they were not formed and had a foul odor. There was a saying I have heard in the past when a person thought themselves above others. The saying was the his or her poop didn't smell. Actually the wording was a little bit more crude but I am respecting the family nature of this website. The thing I noticed most about my new "poo" is that it does not have very much of an odor. This has nothing to do with my opinion of myself but everything about what I am eating. Hope this helps.

How about doing a BLOG... loads of free ones... use it as a food diary.

That way its really easy to share and ask questions on what you ate etc.

      Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

      What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.
