A bit of snow on the ground, but the worst is yet to come.

And, yes, my brother Rob is famous. He is the author Robert J. Sawyer.

Off I go. Back this evening.

Oh, COOL! I luuuuuurve sci-fi. You know, I think my dad has one of his books, I'll have to go borrow it. :D

OMG I just thought a Janet's-last-name-guess that is soooo good, I'm not even gonna post it. I'm gonna go PM her and find out if I'm close. ;)

PINCH, PUNCH, FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH SILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please excuse my tardiness..... t'is my youngest son's birthday...he's 13 yrs old today (new wii game to play!)

Unfortunately this now means I have THREE teenage boys in the house (NOT recommended  )

This reminds me of something strange I learned a few months ago that I have been meaning to pass on. Did you know Morning Glory seeds are hallucinogenic?

WHAT?!?!?!

You tell me this NOW!!!....I had like  ... a BAZILLION seeds all over my garden and I swept them up and replanted them???

GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh.......man, what a missed opportunity ;)

OMG - I do have in my possession a bag of some morning glory seeds, someplace. Alex, am wondering how to eat them. Pop them into my mouth whole, crush them up, cut them in half - what IS the technique?

YES!!! I need to know!!!!!!!! <pestle & mortar in hand..crushing seeds furiously>...into a cake mix me thinks

...but ONLY KIDDING...don't try this at home folks!!! ...............

Susie's cold has morphed into man flu :o ......I'll send some morning glory cake chicken soup!!!!!!!!!!

I'll take some morning glory cake or some of Susie's muskel relaxers . . . me back is killin' me. It's been a rough week. I bought a freezer chest. Hubby and I hauled in down to the basement. Unpackaged it. Found out that at some point in it's short life, it had been dropped (packaging was good, me thinks it happened at the factory). Hauled the freezer back up the stairs. Returned it to Lowes. Bought four new light fixtures instead - three of them ceiling fans. Was going to wait for husband to unload the van, but I had carpooling duty (not to be confused with Julie's reference to "dootie") and unloaded it myself and one of them was one too many. Now I'm walking like my mom.

Happy Birthday Nikki's youngest son!! Party On!

Oh and a :lol::lol: to Uncle Ray.

Nikki--

Happy first day of the month to you :D Wish your son--which one is it? Not Alan--he's your middle child, right?- Martin?--a very Happy Birthday from the crazy Celiac lady across the pond!

Today is also my sister's birthday :)

So we ordered lunch in today to celebrate..Friday I am assuming. Man we were laughing so hard. I think we needed that. Sometimes spending all day talking about cancer takes its toll....

Happy Birthday, Nikki's little boy! (Wouldn't that just drive him nuts if he heard it?):P

massively sore throat.......fiery red - no white things yet. sorry, gross..... fever: 97.6

'

At least you haven't a fever, Susie...Pull Annie up to you and languish a'bed. Did your friend come with sick-person treats?

OMG I just thought a Janet's-last-name-guess that is soooo good, I'm not even gonna post it. I'm gonna go PM her and find out if I'm close. ;)

I'm dying to know your last name, Janet! Making me crazy....can you give another little hint? How about fashioning it into a word puzzle? Now, that's word/letter puzzle, NOT numbers/maths. I'd have no hope in hell...

Now I'm walking like my mom.

:lol: Truly not funny, Janet, but I hear you with the maternal walk. I suddenly will move like my mom after too much back/hamstring work, and it is not a place I want to be yet. ....Well.......at least I don't regularly sound like her.......yet.

Okay!! So I was so anxious to see this pic my dad dug up of G. Bolero, The Everday Mineral Grand Sect Leader, I headed out in this blizzard we are currently having to pick it up. Here we had cancelled his eye surgery due to the treacherous driving conditions, and I show up at his place, snow piled up on my back, knuckles white from some challenging steering/swerving. "Okay......Gotta see that pic". Well, I now remember this character. Uh.....indescribable. So I need to get my scanner going. Where are my computer-elite children when I need them?

BRING on the MORNING GLORIES!!!!!!!!

Just so you know, here are the precautions to take:

Contraindications

* Do not operate heavy machinery. Do Not Drive.

* Do not use Morning Glory seeds when pregnant. LSD is closely related to LSD which is a uterine contractor that can increase risk of miscarriage during pregnancy.

* Individuals currently in the midst of emotional or psychological upheaval in their everyday lives should be careful about choosing to use psychedelics such as Morning Glory seeds as they can trigger even more difficulty.

* Individuals with a family history of early onset mental illness should be extremely careful as psychedelics have been known to trigger latent psychological and mental problems.

An insipid Gaylord Bolero shall not take over as Fearless and Honourable Mineral Make-Up Grand Sect Leader .

And here I was picturing my nemesis...The Intrepid Mr. Gaylord, capable of taking over the world with his eye shadow duos and custom blush blends.

I am no longer intimidated.

Yes.  I have had the tmj condition for 40 years. My only help was strictly following celiac and also eliminating soy.  Numerous dental visits and several professionally made bite plates  did very little to help with symptoms

Cristiana makes a good point and it's something I've pointed out at different times on the forum. Not all of our ailments as those with celiac disease are necessarily tied to it. Sometimes we need to look outside the celiac box and remember we are mortal humans just like those without celiac disease.

Also suffer badly with gluten and TMJD, cutting out gluten has been a game changer, seems to be micro amounts, much less than 20ppm.  Anyone else have issues with other food stuffs? Soy (tofu) and/or milk maybe causing TMJD flare-ups, any suggestions or ideas? --- I'm beginning to think it maybe crops that are grown or cured with glyphosphate. Oats, wheat, barley, soy, lentils, peas, chickpeas, rice, and buckwheat, almonds, apples, cherries, apricots, grapes, avocados, spinach, and pistachios.

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again.
