I just saw Gaylord over in MakeUpTown, hiding among the crowds. Is he afraid to show his face?

Don't forget that the cock was crowin'!!!

One morning it dawned on him he was henpecked.

It was plane to see that he needed to leaf before she kicked his ash . . . but oh how he pined.

  but GAH!! I feel like I wrestle w/ these while you just pop them out!!!!:lol:

(Tools count too? Good!)

Then he Saw her, and felt a Bit the sap for being such a chiseler on the rings.

This is too funny...

I've just posted some fairly serious stuff on newbie threads. Can you imagine what they immediately think when my response, with this avatar, flashes on the screen? "Whoooooooaaaa....I ain't encouraging communication with this hermaphrodite-type freak....." :o:lol::lol::lol:

**Not that there's anything wrong with that...at all. My apologies to any hermaphroditic celiacs reading...

Emily - if I was a newbie, I'd take advice from you . . . you look so knowledgable with glasses and a pipe!!!! However, now that I know you, it's a different story.

GAWD!!!!!

You guys have outdone yourselves this afternoon  I've been busying myself with the mundane--baking muffins, cleaning cat puke, the usual and I missed out on all the fun! :P

Emily--your dad  !!!! Love it!

Do you know he's hanging around over at the makeup thread?

Yes...People often get to know me, and then everything changes...

ummmm, he's your dad....

Yeah.....this can quite easily slip my mind at times. I believe he came home from the studio for a quick dinner dressed as Gaylord once. Full makeup, flowing platinum wig, enormous false teeth, huge, bug-eyed glasses...we were such a jaded family by this time that it was not even mentioned. "Pass the gravy, Dad, but watch that lacy sleeve of yours".....

OK, I'm back . . . had to fix pizza with my daughter. Curious thing . . . she hated pizza before for the Celiac diagnosis. Now she loves it. Actually requests it (gluten-free, of course).

She nailed him. He screwed up. He was finished. He was familiar with the drill so he flew the coop. He could hear her cackling as he headed out to get lathed.

Tom, why doesn't anybody join us?

Hey!....I know when I'm outta my league...

Actually.......

I had a great-uncle who was rather a hateful old drunk, and among several demented verbal exercises, he was obsessed with making puns. I mean obsessed. And they'd get progressively stupider the more he went on. To this day, I kinda feel my stomach tighten when I hear a pun beginning.... <_<

Gah! Carry on!.........<party-pooper emoticon>

 Yeaaaaah!! Last time, w/ math terms, I understand. Hmmmmm

Perhaps BOTH the process & the amusement leanto lean towards the mathy noggin.

  rofl

The argument was a rout. Beaten to a pulp & crucified, awl that remained was a veneer of civility, however stained.

His CC'g of the margarine was the last straw, she thought, brushing her willowy hair. Now she'd have to stop by Tar-zhay (she fancied frenchified spellings -phonettique or not) to replace the Parquet. It'll keep in the trunk during the meeting won't it? As vise president, she'd be expected at the The Women's Initiative Guild (or T.W.I.G.) tonight.

OMG- you ARE my mom! Oh my God- when I was 10, she wouldn't even swear (as in say "arse" or "damn"). By the time I was 25, we had her burping farting and calling me an a$#@$%$$. How far we fall

Happy Saturday, all!

Wow, we got 32 cm of heavy snow yesterday. That meant quite a shovelling session last night, and now I'm not even walking like my Mom, but like my Dad...... :o

So, has he seen his shadow? Crap, I hope not....Six more weeks of this?

Thanks for greasin' the wheels . . . the Parkay/Parquet went right by me. You really creamed me on that last bit with that whole spectrum of woodly items. You did really gouda.

BAHHHHH!!!!!!! Six more weeks . . . at least for the Open Original Shared Link. We have a local groundhog (not nearly as famous as Phil) but I'm hopin' he's got a different prediction for our local weather.

Yes, we have one, too....Wiarton Willie. Haven't yet heard what his results were. Peter, did he see his shadow?

Well, speaking of Oracle Peter, DS came up to me this morning and asked me something quite thought-provoking, and I immediately looked blank and said, "Okay. This is one for the Oracle": How come in very old photographs, no one is ever smiling?

6 more weeks of winter...well it hasn't really been winter anyway....

cruelshoes Enthusiast

Well, today is my birthday, so as the resident groundhog I am here to say that there will be no more winter! Snow and cold are right out.

I am 37. I am thrilled that I get to finally relive that scene from Monty Python in my personal life.

Old woman!

Man.

What?

Man.

Sorry. Who is the lord that lives in that castle?

I'm 37.

What?

I'm 37. I'm not old.

Happy Birthday, Colleen!

You are an Aquarius....

Those born under the sign of Aquarius not only march to a different drummer, they make up new music as they go along. They are 'mind oriented' individuals, whose thoughts never stop tick-tocking. Because of their high focus on intellectual exploration, many inventors, eccentrics and highly original trailblazers are born under this sign. Their intense ability to live on many mental levels holds both pain and pleasure for Aquarians. For example, in the American Hall of Fame there are more Aquarians than any other sign, yet statistics reveal that in mental institutions there are more Aquarians than any other sign too.

...Wow...Does that about sum it up? ;)

Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you
    • Scott Adams
The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
    • trents
Tammy, in the food industry, "gluten free" doesn't mean the same thing as "no gluten". As Scott explained, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) allows food companies to use the "gluten-free" label as long as the product does not contain more than 20 ppm (parts per million) of gluten. This number is based on studies the FDA did years ago to determine the reaction threshold for those with celiac disease. And the 20 ppm figure works for the majority of celiacs. There are those who are more sensitive, however, who still react to that amount. There is another, stricter standard known as "Certified Gluten Free" which was developed by a third party organization known as GFCO which requires not more than 10 ppm of gluten. So, when you see "GFCO" or "Certified Gluten Free" labels on food items you know they are manufactured with a stricter standard concerning gluten content. Having said all that, even though you may read the disclaimer on a food item that says the spices may contain wheat, barley or rye (the gluten grains), you should be able to trust that the amount of gluten the spices may contain is so small it allows the total product to meet the requirements of gluten free or certified gluten free labeling. I hope this helps.
    • Tammy Pedler
As soon as I see gluten free I read the labels. I always find stuff that I cannot have on the products them selfs. Like spices, when the labels says  everything listed and then after like say garlic salt then the next thing is spices. When it says that that can contain wheat and other things I can’t have..

While hypoglycemia isn't a direct, classic symptom of celiac disease, it's something that some individuals with well-managed celiac disease report, and there may be a few plausible explanations for why the two could be connected. The most common theory involves continued damage to the gut lining or nutrient deficiencies (like chromium or magnesium) that can impair the body's ability to regulate blood sugar effectively, even after gluten is removed. Another possibility is delayed stomach emptying (gastroparesis) or issues with the hormones that manage blood sugar release, like glucagon. Since your doctors are puzzled, it may be worth discussing these specific mechanisms with a gastroenterologist or endocrinologist. You are certainly not alone in experiencing this puzzling complication, and it highlights how celiac disease can have long-term metabolic effects beyond the digestive tract.
