WardGirl is what I refer to myself and many other girls who drool over a character on a TV show that we like.

Leave it to Beaver?

Be careful what you ask for: you might get it. Hmmm. Do you think Emily really wants a wake-up phone call to let her know how Michelle did? I have her number... :o

I think she does.

Midnight there is only 9pm here. So PM me her # and I'll take care of it. ;)

First off not to offend anyone but you are missing an 'i' in my name. It's JacquIe. WardGirl is what I refer to myself and many other girls who drool over a character on a TV show that we like. And yes we do get locked up in a Ward on a regular bases. It keeps the streets safer

Yay, another commonwealther! I think we are on our way to outnumbering the Yanks! But really I think we all belong to a unique nation here. Our own sillyville utopia.

Is anyone else seeing the lunar eclipse tonight? My dad brought over his telescope for us to look at it through.

Yes much better today, thanks :) ! Just a little worn out with a itchy eye but my throat and stomach are pretty much back to normal. My brother is pretty much better too. My dad, grandpa, and Colin were all over this evening looking at the eclipse. I was very happy to feel well enough to enjoy their company. We've had a stressful few weeks in our family so I'm hoping everything is going to be all quiet on the home front for awhile. :D

Alex,

I'm happy to hear that things are settling down for you :) You've all had quite a time of it lately.

I know who she drools over, but I'm not telling. ;)

As to the race, the first two teams finished just after midnight Yukon time today. Yukon is on Pacific time, three hours behind the east coast, and the same time as California.

The final stretch is 100 miles from Braeburn Lodge to Whitehorse. The route is overland and away from the highway, mostly following the Yukon River. David Dalton officially left 17 minutes ahead of Michelle, but Open Original Shared Link, and lost some time getting away. His loss is Michelle's gain.

Go, Michelle!

Well Sillies, its been another short week. Work is crazy! Morale is pretty good these days and after my big worry over my new study, my buddies have been right there to help. My big meeting was Monday and one coworker sat in with me so she could help me as I start my first big study. It was great to know I have that support.

As for my earlier dabbacle about my appointment. I have even been scheduled into the Reproductive Endo clinic, not the regular gyn place. The woman I see I have seen for all my exams prior since I was an IVF donor. I will be more comfortable there. I was told that since she is my provider, I will continue to be seen there in that clinic although I would not be a "typical" patient....strange huh? Hopefully I can get in earlier than April.

sorry to discuss such non-silly things but I was peeved this afternoon!

Work has been busy too!!! I cannot believe that tomorrow is Thursday. I have been sleeping better than I have in a long time.

My mom and my sister Tammy and Sabrina and my niece Silvia may visit on Saturday (weather permitting) they want to come see Natalie and her new baby. Our families get along real well. So keep all your fingers crossed that they come down to visit.

:lol::lol:

I'm sure it's going to end up being Emily's dad again . . . He probably played a Ward somebody or other or a Mr. Ward somewhere along the way.

Yes, Yes!! The kids and I saw it. . . My daughter pointed out the full moon on the way out this evening and then when we were coming home she said "Look, the moon isn't full anymore!!" She's one observant smart cookie. . . she's gonna be trouble when she gets older.

Good morning, sillies.

Michelle finished fourth, 46 minutes behind David Dalton and almost 2 hours ahead of Brent Sass. She crossed the finish line at 11:30 Yukon Time, which is 2:30 here, so I slept through it.

Well done!

Morning, all!

Well...Michelle finished fourth. Couldn't quite catch the Damned Dalton! I'm sure she's exhilarated, and headed immediately for the shower. Apparently with the remainder of prize money after expenses, she wants to go to Belize for a week. -40 for 11 days in darkness, I should think so......

Way to go, Michelle!! Thanks for keeping me thrilled these last two weeks, and to all you guys for smiling politely and indulging me!;)

Peter!! I do hope you've explained to Jacquie the reason for our omitting the "I" from her name....you know...that rampant Irritable Vowel Syndrome that afflicts many Sillies from time to time.....

I think she does.

It could very well be....and Jacquie could very well not even know that the character she dreams about is in fact an eighty-three year old Ottawan in a retirement residence. Yet another very important thing to let Jacquie in on, Peter...I'm wondering now about David Dalton, actually--I heard an audio feed of his voice, and....I dunno...sounds suspiciously like the fatherly voice of my childhood.....could it have been?!

Good Morning Sillies!!!

Wow, congrats to Michelle and her wonderful doggies!

We have a nasty bit of weather moving in late tonight and all day tomorrow....ugh! The commutes will be fun tomorrow. Anyone else besides Patti and Judy (who are in the same state as me) getting winter weather tomorrow?

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!

Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?

I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
