Oh no Julie--not snow on May Day!!! Just doesn't seem right.

Is this normal for you out there, or just a fluke? It's nice and sunny here, a little cool.

Glad to hear that you're on the treadmill and the rebounder! Very impressive B) Good luck with the dairy--I've been off it for over 3 years now--for me not nearly as hard as sugar. That sugar is tough :(

We can get snow into May, it's not unheard of. In fact a rule of thumb is not to plant your flowers until Mother's Day  , or you might have to keep carrying your pots inside or cover them to protect them

Thanks for the good luck on the dairy, I am going to need it! I have tried to get off of it for several years, I will go long stretches without it and then I'll slip up and have a little....then I can't stop once I start  The problem is all the dairy alternatives make me so sick and I just don't have enough things I can rotate in to eat. Dairy at first seems to be the lesser of the evils (at least it's not gluten I raionalize) but the more I ingest the more problematic it becomes.

A vicious circle I tell you!

Bloomin' freezing here too Julie ....GADS I can't wait 'til I don't have to use the heating (chaaaa-ching!)

It's been heavy rain for days,.....a slugs paradise

My joints don't like the damp  (I clearly need to move to a warmer/dryer clime ;) )

Boo on the rain, unless y'all need the moisture?

I hear you Nikki, I would not do well in a wet damp cold climate. My joints would be so unhappy, I wouldn't be able to move! i hope you have clear skies and warmer temps soon!

I have thought about relocating to Arizona, my body would be a happy camper in the hot and dry there.

To be sure :( It has to be so much harder for you since you can't tolerate the milk subs.

I planted flowers two weeks ago. It got cold with frost warnings on Tuesday night, but since mine were either in window boxes or on the porches, they were fine. I don't think we actually got any frost, though, I didn't see any evidence of it in the morning.

DingoGirl Enthusiast
Ha Janet--since no one offered total perfect health and a svelte body, it was simply a bowl of fruit, not a bowel.

 fruit bowel..........

wait........weren't we promised a svelte body, and able to eat all we want for life, if we ate the poop? Because....I agreed to this.........

Yeah Julie--have you actually made contact yet?

Careful now, don't rush her!

One can use moderator "privileges" to do certain things? This could, surely, lead to abuse of one's position. Does one get forum lunches and company vehicles? What else, exactly, does the moderator status allow one to do besides read and post?....

Does a moderator get more emoticons? larger quotation quotas? Immunity from the "report" button? Hmmmmmm, what is going on?...... We little, ordinary members need to investigate all this.....

  Yes, I think they get a free personal gluten-free chef also......Bev, are you SURE you want to relinquish your post?

'Brazilian cheese thread' sounds kind of seedy to me anyway

You know, I made them, TWICE, and thought they were ghastly.... Hard as rocks, and dry, both times......they ended up being dog biscuits. HARRUMPH

My joints don't like the damp  (I clearly need to move to a warmer/dryer clime ;) )

Yes, you MUST, come to California!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

It's lovely here, today, but cool...13 C. Bright sun. Perfect for a jaunt with Gus. :)

Privilages = duties. Pinning, de-spamming, general upkeep, booting out the occasional Troll....the usual B)

Mygawd......and nothing in return? 'Tis astonishing. I think our next parade should be dedicated to all of the tireless mods doing such a thankless job.

NO perks? Not even a title for yer business cards? <_<

Oh Bev . . . did you misuse your moderator privileges and delete the Brazilian Cheese Bread thread??? Were you demoderated because you took revenge against a recipe you didn't like??? . . . thought nobody would notice it was gone, huh??

Or perhaps Bev has moved the thread and hidden it within the bowels of the forum, just to shake things up...has anyone looked in the dermatitis section? The meeting room?

Bev, methinks yer messin' with our minds.....

:huh::lol:

 I'm not sure what to think.......that man wove a huge bear out of pine needles! Impressive, tedious, combustible, unusual.

Yes, our Ednas could make us ALL pissy. I am not sticking, in any way, to a no-sugar diet. Ate two small chocolate bars yesterday, and a biscotti. Zoigs.

HI JUDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

must head out for more mowing/cutting/pruning. I don't know how to use one a' them weed whackers, so I must hand-trim the edges of the lawn. All the neighbors look at me strangely....most have weekly gardeners or at LEAST have an edge trimmer. What kind of person does it by hand, I ask you? An impoverished Dingo Girl, that's who.

Oh - here's a silly. The other day, David was on a day trip, six-hour round-trip drive for work. So, I asked him what he did in the car - listen to ipod, good C D's, what? And he said - - "No - I was just alone wtih my dingo thoughts" - - (we say this a lot - BTW 'tis a tortuous place to be  )

'tis any kind of egregious diet. Emily has her no-sugar diabetic diet, Julie is on no sugar (and then no carbs soon), Nikki - heinous slimming diet - - I think it's just any kind of diet that we hate - - which we evidently all must observe.

Um - does it also encompass the gluten-free diet? is that a given?

Yeah, I refused to call it diet because I hate the word.

Emily decided that we needed to call it something else like a Catherine, then she thought that was not a fitting name to use for something so heinous, thus Edna was thrown out there......not that the name Edna is heinous or anything

Nikki! I've been meaning to say you look fantabulous in your avatar!! You don't need a slimming diet, er Edna

What is your slimming Edna btw??

So now I am working my evaluation which is due tomorrow. I hate self-evals. Pointless....and to top it off the questions are repeating themselves at every section....plus I have to come up with some goals for next year....I dont really have any kind of goals....sheesh what are they expecting out of me?

Well now, everyone . . . I believe Amanda has just issued us a challenge!!!!! We must now all provide Amanda with some suitable goals for next year . . .

Goal: To properly document all phart activity using official phart charting.

Goal: Only phart when there is a questionable veggie tray in the area.

Goal: To no longer tuck my dresses/skirts into my tights/pantyhose.

OMG - - Thank heavens I do not ever have to do this. Self-evaluate? Hell, I don't know how I'm doing at anything..... <_<

Amanda, perhaps we can help you with these heinous questions...

Say that you are performing quite well at work, considering the amount of time you spend on an online celiac forum, pondering questions about wearing green, eating poop and tactics for avoiding jury duty.

You have two professional goals: To avoid completely the office pain-in-the-@ss that you've mentioned here, and....what else....oh, and to make more time to speak to your online friends.

There, that should cover it.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/

Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!
