Actually, I've referenced Ptaoughmhmn elsewhere two or three times, and used our special Psilly Pspelling. Imagine what others were thinking whilst reading my post.. .. ."Wow - - which member is THIS? Must be from Latvia or Iceland". And then trying to figure out how his name would be pronounced.....:lol:

Ta-hmm-hmm-n

Hello, Sillies,

Another beautiful afternoon, and I'm out on the deck with three furry friends (Tuppence is inside for some reason).

And where is Sarah? I speak of Silly Sarah--I know where our wayward employee Sarah is. That Sarah is due August 2.

They must be working Amanda hard. She has gone more than 24 hours without posting, although I did see her lurking earlier while I was also lurking. ;)

Nothing else to add for now.

Okay...I've got another query from The Ripper. This one is FASCINATING!

Just imagine:

It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three candidates. For whom would you vote ?

Candidate A.

Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologist He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

Candidate B.

He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

Candidate C

He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.

Which of these candidates would be our choice?

After everyone has chosen, I'll report the last part of this exercise that Jack gave me. He's keeps me thinking, this kid.....

Pat *giggle* don't be scared.........embrace it

  saw this post again, and for some reason I read this, whilst looking at Nik's av, and saw piggle.

Not so strange, really, as Lauren calls me Piggle, Pizzle (who knows what this is? raise yer hands! i'm quite sure pOeter knows) and other variations.......Pig Bomb, Piggie, Piglet, etc.

OMG. Em, this is clearly a trick question posed by the Ripper, so, I'll just cast my vote at this time for the whiskey drinking opium user who sleeps til noon.:lol:

I was working myself hard. I am off tomorrow......I took a day to myself to escape the work stress. I wanted to get everything I could cleaned up!!!!!

I'm going with B. At least he's well rested.

I pick A.

Don't ask me why....

Why?

Darn210 Enthusiast

I, too, feel this is a trick question . . . we are OBVIOUSLY suppose to pick C. So I will pick C so we know what it means if you pick C . . . out of the other two, I prefer B as it appears he doesn't start drinking until the end of the day.

tom Contributor

Ok Em . .. .I'm not sure I trust vegetarians, but I'll bite & take C, knowing the Ripper will trick me somehow.

Yes, where IS Alex

I'm here! I guess it's been awhile since I last posted, eh? Didn't realize I'd been away so long. Some of the non-Sillyville posts have been getting on my nerves lately and I've been rather irritable and easily annoyed of late so I took a leave of absence to spare you all from my pissy attitude. Basically, I could use a good smack on the head ;) .

Okay...I've got another query from The Ripper. This one is FASCINATING!

I pick B, cuz it seems like he's someone who could hold his own in any kind of world leaders disagreement. And at least he drinks in the evening, not while in office.

Ah! Shakespeare used a pizzle in his imagery now and then...definitely in Henry IV, Love's Labour's Lost.... ..

Wonder if they make slings for these things... ..

OHHHHHH . . . I HEAR ya in that one!!! I've got a couple of favoUrite posters that usually annoy me and what do I do? . . . I almost always go read what they say so that I can tell my self "I knew they were going to say that!!!" and be all annoyed again.

jerseyangel Proficient

Guess what? I just averted a potential gluten disaster :o

I was thawing some pork chops in the microwave, planning to top with veggies and some salt-free stewed tomatoes. I was chopping the veggies, and re-read the can....I missed this in the store--natural flavors :o:o

It's a store brand, so I checked on-line and it was not on the gluten free list....called CS, but the poor guy who answered was clueless. He offered to put through "an inquiry", but I was in the middle of making dinner <_<

So....I scrapped the original plan, froze the veggies and am going with baked chops with roasted potatoes.

That was a close one :)

They are also dog treats. We sell them. The treats are also known as bullwrinkles, and as steer sticks. Full size they are almost 30 inches, but are popular when cut into 12- 8- or 5-inch pieces.

Darn210 Enthusiast

Oh, and here is some doggie news . . .

I took Josie for her annual check-up/vaccination and what do they find?????? Her knee cap is popping in and out of place. I hadn't noticed any problems when she runs so for the moment, no action needed. However, if (and I think this is more likely when) she does start having issues, she's going to need surgery. Now does anybody else here feel like this is somehow Emily's fault???!!!??? <_< Baaahhhh!!!!! It's a good thing she's so cute!!!! (I'm talking about Josie, not Emily). ;)

Nope, I'm not cute. But I got great knees...... <_<

Poor wittle Josie! keep an eye on her, Janet...I've heard that veterenairy knee/hip surgery that is done before things get bad is considerably less involved (read: cheaper)....

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/

Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!
