I have heard something interesting: For some time now, the medical powers that be have been searching for a well-known song with a beat that most closely counts out the proper speed for chest compressions during CPR. They fell upon it last week, and it has now been officially named as the CPR Song.

Very phunny.. . . I am certain that these blokes were not thinking of hammering out the right timing for chest-pounding when they wrote this, but there you are:

It's a little fast, and apparently too many compressions per minute strongly affect the efficacy of the proceedure, as much as not enough compressions. They have it down now - - the optimal number per minute, and I guess they went searching for a song that has that number of BPM. Phunnily ironic. .. . .....

So, I guess we should all be wearing our mp3s and ipods wherever we go, and have Stayin' Alive all cued up. You absolutely never know when someone's gonna collapse in front of you.

...But what if YOU are the one who's collapsed?. . . . ..

Hmmm .. . .must train myself to hum this song while semi-conscious, for those working around me. . .. .... <_<

Em, I hear from Alex from time to time and she's doing well. :)

I definitely do NOT have a life today, nor for the past several days :lol:

Patti is right I have had a bad breakout and have been pretty sick :( but I am slowly coming back to the land of the living, and I can type a little bit today ....when I disappear that is usually the reason unfortunately, even if I had a life I would be here posting with me Sillies!!! :D

And Nikki has gone to bonnie Scotland!! Lucky lady. I phorgot to tell her to hunt down Gerard Butler for me and bring him back, in a kilt and all!!

Hope all Sillies are well :)

Reading, but no silly. Trying to QC my 700 some odd samples (think:transferring drops of water from one tray of little well to a different tray of little wells, but in a random order).

Gender matches show some that don't match :blink:

Don't suppose they'd be willing to change their gender for me, if I asked nicely....oh, wait. That wouldn't change their DNA anyway.

Guess I have to figure it out.

Another important school board meeting tonight . . . I'm never silly on school board meeting days . . . Today is the day that they vote and eliminate the program that both of my kids are in at the school :( Have I told you guys how much I intensely dislike our principal??? :angry:

Can we trade in today for another one? Woke up late this morning......had only 15 min to get out the door :angry: . Sooooo....the trash didn't get put out, I forgot to put blush on <GASP> :o . I packed stuff to put on a tostada for lunch, but no tostada <_<, forgot to grab a protein bar for breakfast, ........and to top it off.....my hair is looking a bit blue....seriously :unsure: . Devil child forgot his meds and had cussed out practically everyone by 10:00 :ph34r: .

I stayed afterschool to run with the girls, and forgot to clock out. It will be a hassle getting that fixed tomorrow.....have to get chastised for that.

But it's OK.......my gender matches, no board meetings, arrow missed my covered wagon, my kind of breakout won't stop me from typing, and I'm not missing. :rolleyes:

Since we're playing "Where is.....?".........haven't seen Ryan in like.......forever.

I think of him whenever I'm in the hot tub, wondering if he's sitting in his . . . ..he and his wife use theirs apparently all the time. OMG, it can get SO bone-chillingly cold in the prairies....seriously, I cannot imagine sitting out in -40 weather, even if I were sitting in hot bubbly water. :o

Grapevine is WAY too slow, and Paint it Black WAY too fast. This is Janet's principal we're talkin' about, heeyah! :o:lol:

Blue hair? oh NOOO...dyed mine cherry bomb red once. Was aiming for a deep burgundy brunette but my hair had some blonde in it from the summer. I had to teach high school boys (yes- my classes were ALL adolescent boys my first two years of teaching-AHHHH!!!!!!!!) for a day with said hair. Never doing THAT again!

Oh- poor Ryan- wouldn't things shrivel up and fall off (regardless of gender!) in that weather :o :o

yeah.......when hubby got home he comments that my hair is almost back to my original color.

ummmm, no......it's kinda blue in places and the rest is like faded black or maybe gray.

Never trust the opinion of a man who asks, "Is that a new shirt?" and your answer is, "It was 2 years ago." <_<

Maybe we should sic devil child on Janet's principal. I'll rent him out real cheap! Evidently, our dean is a f***ing b****, and the principal has an attitude problem.

The teacher is not his boss, and I just need to f*** off. :P

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you...

      thank you both for the insights. i agree, im going to back off on dairy and try sucraid. thanks for the tip about protein powder, i will look for whey protein powder/drinks! i don’t understand why my doctor refused to order it either. so i’ve decided i’m not going to her again, and i’m going to get a second opinion with a GI recommended to me b...

      Let me suggest an adjustment to your terminology. "Celiac disease" and "gluten intolerance" are the same. The other gluten disorder you refer to is NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which is often referred to as being "gluten sensitive". But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.

      thank you both for the insights. i agree, im going to back off on dairy and try sucraid. thanks for the tip about protein powder, i will look for whey protein powder/drinks!   i don’t understand why my doctor refused to order it either. so i’ve decided i’m not going to her again, and i’m going to get a second opinion with a GI recommended to me by someone with celiac. unfortunately my first appointment isn’t until February 17th. do you think i should go gluten free now or wait until after i meet with the new doctor? i’m torn about what i should do, i dont know if she is going to want to repeat the endoscopy, and i know ill have to be eating gluten to have a positive biopsy. i could always do the gluten challenge on the other hand if she does want to repeat the biopsy.    thanks again, i appreciate the support here. i’ve learned a lot from these boards. i dont know anyone in real life with celiac.

Having said that, the reality is there is still much inconsistency in how people use these terms. Since celiac disease does damage to the small bowel lining it often results in nutritional deficiencies such as anemia. NCGS does not damage the small bowel lining so your history of anemia may suggest you have celiac disease as opposed to NCGS. But either way, a gluten-free diet is in order. NCGS can cause bodily damage in other ways, particularly to neurological systems.
