Emily, check yer ho' tub fer some barge poles.

Crap.... . . . .it would seem that anything is possible.:lol:

What are barge poles used for? Phunny, but I seem to recall Mr. Chow telling me that as a young man he worked for a time on a huge freighter/barge that travelled between Hong Kong and Vancouver........

Significant?

Coincidence?

I just don't know anymore. . . . . . .

So, today is bit of an anniversary for us. It was eight years ago today that we took over our original store. We were there for almost six years, before moving to our current location in September, 2006.

POeter! Congrats! Great pic of you and Queen Jacquie!

When you were telling Bev that you have an excellent product for urine stains, I realized that you also have an excellent product for Mr. Chow's significant tooth decay issues (so bad that he's lost teeth) - -those fabulous all-angle doggy toothbrushes. . . ..I shall mention these to him . . . ..

I'm subseqently developing a ritual of focusing on a page (can you say ooooohhhhhmmmmmm?), which requires me to go back, and go back, and time loses all meaning. Am supposed to like, sit a certain way? or perhaps there are ritualistic phrases that need to be said? Kow Tow (cow toe?) and bump my forhead on the ground?

Hey, Tareesah!! Well.....you do NOT need to sit in any particular way, but hovering above a public toilet seat - - now, for this there is a technique. Go back about 1,000 pages..... . .

GO BACK? GOOOOO BAAAAACK??? No! I won't go! I can't go, I don't have time! You can't make me (but you tempt me, you do). I'm not even supposed to be here now! (maybe I'll peek back there tomorrow, though). I just wanted to make a brief stop. See y'all later.

Peter . . . Lovely new av . . . What does Becky weigh in at??? She looks like quite a armload . . . but is it all hair???
At last weighing, Becky was 17 pounds. The dear girl really should lose about ten percent. She is long-haired, and there is a lot of it, but there is a big cat under it all. We are trying to get her to lose, but it is not working very well. She is down from a peak of 18 pounds a year ago.

You can see Becky a bit better in this picture, which is an outtake. The first attempt at the photo had Jacquie holding Becky and me holding Caramel, but Caramel wasn't cooperating, and she had wriggled out of my grip a fraction of a second before the photo was taken. :o You can just see her right ear and part of her head at the bottom of the picture as she drops to the floor.

For the second year running, we have been voted 2008's "Best Pet Supply in North Toronto" by the readers of the North Toronto Post. The editor of the franchiser's internal magazine asked for the photo so she can include it with an item about us in the first 2009 edition. We're pretty happy about that! :)

Oh, Bev, so sorry about your pants. We have a great product here in the store that works very well on urine stains.

Congrats Pieter- love the pics- all three of your girls are beauties :D

Thanks for the offer but i already used Nature's Miracle on me pants. No stain, no smell  <SNACKLE>

POeter, Becky is beeeeeoootiful. :)

She's big - - but not as big as your gentle giant.... .Oliver, isn't it? He's over twenty pounds, I'm sure you've said, and six feet long, er sumfin.... . .. ..didn't you tell me that his face is on a commercial cat food package, or kitty litter?

Oliver is pictured on the bag for Enviro-Litter, a biodegradable pine litter sold as our private label. In the linked photo, he is lying on the table on the deck, and Tuppence is on the chair in the foreground.

....and I think from now on I better just focus on the current events (even tho' previous posts are hilarious!) Later.......T

For your sanity, tis better if you just go with the flow and stick to the here and now. Topics change so frequently, anyway......and just keeping up with the present is enough to make you late for work, ignore your family, and forget to bathe  I have been here since....May....I think  As you have noticed, time has no meaning here. And I still do not know the origin of some things....such as the Yeti. I can simply take comfort in knowing that.......he just is.

<ohhhmmmm>

GAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!....You just had to say that, didn't you??? I will not rest, now, until I find it!

You can just see her right ear and part of her head at the bottom of the picture as she drops to the floor.

 ....and Becky is looking at her like......." What the freak is wrong with you?"

Forget what else I wanted to comment on <_<

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.

I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."

Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.

The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs. Because of this it took me decades to overcome a few long-standing issues I had that were associated with gluten ataxia, for example numbness and tingling in my feet, and muscle knots--especially in my shoulders an neck. Only long term extensive supplementation has helped me to resolve these issues.
