OMG. . . ..liver crimes. . . ....commited many in me youth.. . .now it's the odd transgression, but I think I now consider myself an ex-con. . .....

Um....that is, until the Christmas season, when I am regularly thrown into the company of outlaws....brief crime spree coming. . . . . . ....

*snort* that cracked me up

It's COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Currently -1 degrees (degree?). Arnie is having a tough time outside, he just stops in his tracks and lifts his paws up and whinces. I think the snow is so cold it is burning/stinging his paws. So no evening poo, no morning poop thus far, poor little guy is holding it.

:o how do people LIVE in that??????????? Poor Arnie and his wee feet, and his WEE!

how DO dogs pee in that weather? Does the wee freeze in mid-air????????

Joooolie! Poor Arnie. . . . . yes, boots may be a good idea. My MIL has just finished making something like 60 pairs of dog booties for the Yukon Quest - - comin' up in early Feb, all!!

oh, that is exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

OMG  I forwarded that on to my boss and other males

SILLIES!!!!!!!!!! :o

we just had the wildest storm I've practically ever seen.......pretty scary.....I was in the store, Weez was in the car, and the sky turned so black.....cracks of thunder and tornado warnings here today (never happens). Soon, the HUGEST, LOUDEST torrent of HAIL came down.......unbelievable. Everyone came to the windows of the stores and stared in awe.......I waited a few minutes for it to pass but - it did not. I could see my little weez terrified and looking for me as she sat in MY seat in the front as hail poured into the two open windows......I ran out and was soaked (raincoat was in teh car, natch).......PILES of hail everywhere. The storm headed to the mountains where it is snowing briskly at 1,000 feet elevation and now........it is CRYSTAL CLEAR and sunny above my house and practically BLACK in the east......going outside with camera now, I think.........

I am hearing sooo many sirens now...... :( the streets were a mess.....

Gahhhhhh .. . . the dreaded Penis Crush. .. . . ...thank you for this ripe comedic material, POeter. You just knew you could throw something like that into our mix, and we'd make hay. . . . .

No, but their penii can - - hence the infamous PENIS SLING which many of the best sled dogs of the Quest are regularly sporting. . . . . remember??

Soooz! Exciting, sublime, frightening storm! Put up a pic!

Well...back from over a month away from my forums. I've been lurking, but since things blew up here, I needed some time.

It seems we've all been busy around here. I hope you are all well, and am diving in to try and get caught up.

Oh excellent Patti, your liver enzymes are so musically talented. What is their specialty? Bach? Bethoven?

Good catch, Julie!

I believe we can blame Nik and Julie for mentioning wrapping

I need a little 'symphany' meself. I fell down the stairs this morning :( I took one step in my stocking feet and they went flying out from under me. I landed on me bum and went bouncing down the stairs. (I was rather slippery, wearing only me tights)

........I'm hearing snickers out there! <_< .........shame on you! :P

When I told my coworker, she said..."Oh, like in the cartoons!"

So anyway, I didn't feel too bad, except a slight headache all day, because the initial fall rattled me brain. Well now I'm starting to ache in various places, and have discovered that I must have also hit my shoulder, as there is a bruise starting to form. The one on me tush is now coming into it's glory.........have decided it looks like the face of a bunny, with the nose being the deepest purple over the rest........and no....there will be no picture!

Wouldn't you know.....when I got home......that's where hubby tried to give me a little love pat :o (he wasn't yet aware of my morning adventure) Luckily, I have good reflexes! He survived unscathed. :P

DUDE, you live in TORONTO!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you this.......I have lived here for 38 of my 47 years and, to my knowledge, it "snowed" TWICE here before 1997 (when I moved to Monterey) - once when I was in about third grade, and we were OUT OF OUR MINDS on the playground that day, with our 1/8 inch of white dusting - and once after college...........

To see a storm of this magnitude just makes me WILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's all I can say, it makes me WILD WITH GLEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

<clapping hands maniacally>

see new av photo - - it's not really snow, it's hail - - but it's ALMOST SNOW - - it looks like snow - - the streets are COVERED WITH WHITE in my complex and.......

Calm thyself, Soozie!.......and....2 inches?......seriously?..........I think not (just looked at the pic)

If that were snow, it would be called a 'light dusting'

Since this is such a momentous occassion, you must gather some hail and put it in your freezer.....it's tradition.

How does Weezie like it?

I don't know.......be creative.

The best scenario would be if it sticks together, you can shape it into snowballs. Great to hit people with in the heat of summer. :P If you try this, I'll swear I never told you

Susie, my goodness, what unusual weather you have had today. Here it just went from being well above freezing last night to being very cold. Currently -15 C (19 F). No sign of warming above freezing in the next 10 days. Brrr.

I live in the upper mid-west and was just diagnosed with marsh 3c celiac less than a month ago.  As a 51 year old male, I now take a couple of different gluten free vitamins.  I have not noticed any reaction to either of these items.  Both were purchased from Amazon. 1.  Nature Made Multivitamin For Him with No Iron 2.  Gade Nutrition Organic Quercetin with Bromelain Vitamin C and Zinc Between those two, I am ingesting 2000 IU of vitamin D per day. Best of luck, Known1

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.
