Hi Judy!!! Good to see you!!! Welcome back to the reality of winter!!! CurlyLisa is the kween. Probably not worth going back to read the massive amounts of shopping lists and music lyrics. If you see something you don't remember just ask and we'll give you a much quicker rundown than trying to go back into the vortex to find it.

Welcome back to the Sillie, Judith B) Too bad there's not a search function fer CurlyLisa's recaps. That would get you up to date in a jiffy

I know ya'll are on the edge of yer seats wondering about me bread :P This is what I did--mixed up the batter as usual, and in a separate bowl mixed sugar, cinnamon and a wee bit of Smart Balance till it was like little crumbs. Then (here's the genius) I spread a third of the batter into the pan, topped it wif half the topping and repeated ending wif the bread batter.

It's in the oven proofing now

Tomorrow, in preperation fer me haircut I have to wash and let it dry naturally wif no product at all (v scary). What I completely phorgot was that I have a doctor's appt first thing in the morning. So I have to go there looking like that

Hi, Jooooodeee!! back to the Land of Unforgiving Wintah. . . . ....hope you are not getting the storm that we have happening.

Leeeeeesar! Recap fer Joodith, s'il te plait. . .. . . .

What I completely phorgot was that I have a doctor's appt first thing in the morning. So I have to go there looking like that

OMG, Patteee.. . . . get ready for alarms going off, security swooping down and around you, crowds frantically parting. . . . . . ...

Perhaps your doc's receptionist will simply stare long and carefully at you, eyes widened, and say, "Oh, Patti. . . . .....I'm glad you're here to see him"......

Lawyer appointment was productive, but now I have had to relive the whole ordeal and shall spend the rest of the afternoon with a sick, weak feeling permeating my whole body. For the first time probably ever, I found myself home at 2 pm, considering having a glass of wine. Or two.

But nope. Too much shovelling, cleaning, dog-walkin' to do! (A good thing, fer sure). . . . .

Well, I suited up and headed out wif me two useless chidlens armed wif shovels . . . the whining commenced immediately and no it twas not from me. After about 5 minutes I gave up and we walked to my friend's house (about 5 houses down) which in itself was no small feat. . . and borrowed their snow blower. OMG!!!! I would gladly turn over my first born (if he was remotely worth anything) in appreciation. Instead I shall send down a bottle of me favourite wine.

I'm hating my husband's job at the moment . . . he just called to say he's been scheduled to attend a meeting from 6 to 7:30pm . . . who in hell schedules a meeting then??? . . . and just so you know, this is NOT a manufacturing facility . . . or a hospital . . . there is NO second shift.

This Uncle Ray-er was too good NOT to post on the thread.

Yesterday I had a flat tire on the interstate. So I ease my car over to the shoulder of the road, carefully get out of the car and open the trunk. I took out 2 cardboard men, unfolded them and stood them at the rear of my car facing oncoming traffic.

They look so lifelike you wouldn't believe! They are in trench coats exposing their nude bodies and private parts to the approaching drivers.

But to my surprise, cars start slowing down looking at my lifelike men.

And of course, traffic starts backing up. Everybody is tooting their horns

and waving like crazy.

It wasn't long before a state trooper pulls up behind me. He gets out of his car and starts walking towards me. I could tell he was not a happy camper! ''What's going on here?"

"My car has a flat tire," I said calmly.

"'Well, what the heck are those obscene cardboard men doing here by the

road?"

I couldn't believe that he didn't know. So I told him, "Helloooooo, those

are my emergency flashers!"

Good luck with your meeting today, Em. They do owe her--what a thing to have to go through, especially for a child. I'll be sending good, positive thoughts to you and Will. :)

Let us know 'bout dad.....

Em- Sorry that was such a rough meeting. I can't imagine going through something like that with my child. ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) and 2 glasses of wine coming right up!

Alright- so if the ice that fell all morning was not enough than it turned to rain and slushed things up.....tonight the temp is going to dip to 24....and then everything will be iced over again! I can't wait till spring till we get a driveway put in...the parking on street scares me during the winter....

Frizzbomb is right! I did a dry run wif it today since I didn't have to go out. I swear, I have no idea how they are going to accomplish this. I wish I could have Mark film it so you guys could watch :P

The cinnamon bread was out of this world! We each had a slice whilst still warm, and as soon as it's cool I'm slicing and freezing the rest. Don't trust meselph to have it sit out B) Tastes like that cinnamon bread that Joisey diners put out on the table--evil, yummy stuff. :P

I was reading one of those random magazines left in the lunchroom. You know, the kind that no one would admit they actually buy...

Anyway, it was a holiday addition, and they were doing before/after decorating shots. They showed an entryway that looked fabulous in the after shot....and i thought, a little darker.....so I started reading.

They painted the woodwork, changed the pictures, recovered the bench and hung a new chandelier, before hanging swags and wreaths on the railing.

So I started wondering, how many of you totally remodel your rooms for each holiday?

AND of course....it requires a lot more money than I have......but then again if I were philthy ritch, I can think of things I'd much rather do with munney

I agree, there can be contamination at many points--milling is another possible source of contamination for any flours.

Keep in mind that with manufactured food products, "gluten free" doesn't equate to no gluten. Things that are naturally gluten free can be cross-contaminated with gluten in the field, in shipping and in processing. In the U.S. companies can use the gluten free label as long as the product doesn't exceed 20ppm of gluten. That amount still may cause a reaction in some people.

Dd10 was tested for celiac four years ago bc two siblings were dx’d (positive labs and biopsies). Her results at the time were positive ema  and ttg (7x the UL), but a negative biopsy. We checked again three months later and her ttg was still positive (4x the UL), but ema and biopsy were negative. Doc said it was “potential celiac” and to keep eating gluten, but we were concerned about harming her growth and development while young and had her go gluten-free because we felt the labs and ema in particular were very suggestive of early celiac, despite the negative biopsies. She also had stomach aches and lethargy when eating it. We just felt it’d be better to be safe than sorry. Now, four years later, she doesn’t want to be gluten-free if she doesn’t “have to be,” so underwent a 12 week gluten challenge. She had labs done before starting and all looked great (celiac panel all negative, as expected.) Surprisingly, she experienced no noticeable symptoms when she began eating gluten again, which we felt was a positive sign. However, 12 weeks in, her labs are positive again (ttg 4x the UL and ema positive again as well). Doc says that since she feels fine and her previous two biopsies showed nothing, she can just keep eating gluten and we could maybe biopsy again in two years. I was looking up the ema test and the probability of having not just one but two false positives, and it seems ridiculously low.  Any advice? Would you biopsy again? She’s old enough at this point that I really feel I need her buy-in to keep her gluten-free, and she feels that if the doc says it’s fine, then that’s the final word — which makes me inclined to biopsy again and hope that it actually shows damage this time (not because I want her to have celiac like her sisters, but because I kind of think she already does have it, and seeing the damage now would save her more severe damage in the long run that would come from just continuing to eat gluten for a few more years before testing again.)  Our doc is great - we really like him. But we are very confused and want to protect her. One of her older sibs stopped growing and has lots of teeth problems and all that jazz from not catching the celiac disease sooner, and we don’t want to get to that point with the younger sis. fwiw- she doesn’t mind the biopsy at all. It’s at a children’s hospital and she thinks it’s kind of fun. So it’s not like that would stress her out or anything.

Thanks for the replies. I already use a gluten-free brand of buckwheat flakes I occasionally get itchy bumps. I'm still reviewing all my food products. I occasionally eat prepackaged gluten-free crackers and cookies, so I'll stop using those. I use buckwheat flakes and Doves Farm flour as a base for baking. Would you recommend eliminating those as well? It's a constant search.

Gluten free food is not fortified with vitamins and minerals as regular food is.  Vitamin deficiencies are common especially in recently diagnosed persons,  Get a 25(OH)Vitamin D blood test. And work on raising it.  The safe upper blood level is around 200 nmol/L.    "Low serum levels of 25(OH)D have been associated with increased risk of autoimmune disease onset and/or high disease activity. The role of vitamin D in autoimmune diseases   🏋️‍♂️Good job!   I find the commercial milk will give me mild stomach burn at night, while pasture/grassfed only milk does not bother me at all.  While you are healing, listen to your body.  If it hurts to eat something, eat something else.  You may be able to eat it later, or maybe it is just not good for you.  Lower your Omega 6 to 3 ratio of what you eat.  Most omega 6 fatty acids are inflammation causing.    The standard american diet omega 6:3 ratio is estimated at upward of 14:1.  Thats why fish oil works
