I must share the news, friends. We're expecting...ducks!! This crazy momma mallard has planted four little greyish/green eggs in me rhododendrun

This is quite wackl--we live in a hugely populated subdivision whose only source of water is the errant swimming pool (which haven't been open since last Labor Day.)

The poor little dear.

Mu hubby is tres excited--I think he's more excited about the impending duckies then he was when I was preggers with me daughter

I told him this was probably a portent to "get our ducks in a row", but he says it's probably more a sign that the "cheese has fallen off me quwackers".

My Animal Speak book says this:

"The mallard...can be very amiable and display a wide variety of emotions.

It may reflect a need to to find comfort...with those of like mind and spirit."

Ooooh, good stuff, huh?

Mimm-e-o! You must rush to the store and buy a little kiddie-pool for the duckies!!! Those babies are going to need to learn to swim :lol:

She's a talk-tease.

 I yam. Probably will not reveal all on this phorum. Just titillating bits and pieces.

Yep, I've been kinda quiet. Cabernet Sauvignon is a good choice. In the alternative:

Combine eight parts gin with one part dry vermouth in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with olives. Cheers! :)

Minnesota? Yeah, serious winters there. My mother is from Minnesota.

Judy, it will be nineteen years for me next week. You can do it!

Peter! that martini of your'n is just too..........serious for me. I need sumphin more........phruity? phrivolous? umm.............SWEETER????????? maybe with an umbrella or something in a brown paper bag?

I know you all know one another much better than you know me, but I have wanted to mention that my husband is a moderator on the Blue Gorrillas website and every year they have a reunion. It's a lot of fun. Not every one goes every year, but we webcam it for those who can't make it. The guys have a stuffed blue gorilla that they send to each other. His journeys are photographed and posted and he travels with a suitcase filled with mementos, a scrapbook, and a journal--it is very funny to see some of the places he has been and with whom.

So, I just wanted to say that it would be GREAT FUN to see you crazy kooks in person!! And maybe send a silly little yak on a trip around the world, too.

Umm...............Mimms, WHAT is this Blue Gorilla thingy of which you speak???????? How did it start? Is that gorilla like that traveling gnome that was kidnapped from Pacific Grove, CA?

I am simply OUT OF MY MINNNNNNNNDD for yer hubby's group and concept!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SILLS - do we need to get an yeti and start sending it around?

must ponder this.......MUST have more info!!!!!!!!!!!

And to you, Susan/Dingo Babe,

I am truly sorry to hear that you are sad, angry, and in any way troubled. You, who bring such JOY to others, do not deserve to be anything but brilliantly happy, always.

This may surprise you, but I knew something was not right--sensed it. That's because I really like you, and appreciate knowing you, and now that you've become a part of my life I (and I'm sure I speak for all of us) find your unhappiness distressing.

I think that the life goes where the heart dictates, and that if you are meant to go to Minnesota, you shall. Or not. And try to remember that our families are not always a direct reflection of our own ability to soar and find happiness--if that were the case I'd be freakin MISERABLE right now :)

The truth is, it seems to me, that we are who we choose to be, not who our families, spouses, children, and friends tell us we are or want us to be. And you my friend, are pretty f--in cool.

Do be happy, and know that you are terribly important to SO MANY. <<Hugs>> from afar.

Mimms :(:) this actually made me cry.

I still struggle with the dark side, as all the Sills know. But it's not like before - I was pretty massively bipolar before dx, over three years ago. I gained the benefit of a quiet brain for the first time in my entire life, with the removal of the evil grain. :) But........sometimes I fall over into the abyss, still. Sometimes I get too hyper. Sometimes too sad. I'm an old lady now, who...............well............

as my theme song states.........

"I dreamed a dream in time gone byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..........."

BOLLOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to smoke a clove. Yes, I"m a smoker also......clove cigarettes. Used to be a pack a year? or so? tucked away in my freezer and pulled out for the full moon. I am up to at least a pack a month now. Scares me to death.

I have tried all my 21 perfume samples, in a matter of three days. read all the notes, made my own.......and for what? some of the world's most phamous boutique fragrances, and nearly all..........stinketh. But it's not their fault, I have strange body chemistry.

Um, I don't really do sweet drinks--they f*** up my blood sugar too much. Perhaps Grand Marnier or Tia Maria, slowly sipped from a small snifter. Or chugged straight from the bottle.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/

Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!

my IGG is 815 IGA 203  but tTG-Iga is   <0.4!!!!!!!!!!!!!   oh my god- 13 days of agony and the test is negative?  I don't even know what to do next. There zero doubt in my mind that I have an issue with wheat and probably more so with gluten as symptoms are dramatically worse the more gluten a product has   I am going to write up the history of my issues for the past few years and start a food/symptom diary to bring with me to the GI doctor in March.   I googled like crazy to try to find out what other things might cause these symptoms and the only thing that truly fits besides celiac is NCGS   but I guess there are some other things I maybe should be tested for ...? like SIBO?   I will continue to eliminate any foods that cause me distress (as I have been doing for the past couple of years) and try to keep a record. Can anyone recommend an app or some form or something that would simplify this? I have a very full and busy life and taking the time to write out each symptom name in full would be tedious and time consuming- some sort of page with columns to check off would be ideal. I am not at all tech savvy so that's not something I can make myself ... I'm hoping there's some thing out there that I can just download and print out   do I give up on testing for celiac with such a low number? I am 70 yrs old I have been almost completely off gluten for the most part for about 2 yrs. I had a meal of vital wheat gluten vegan roast,  rolls and stuffing made from home baked bread and an apple pie- and had the worst pain and gas and bloating and odd rumblings in my gut etc - almost went to the ER it was so bad. I was thinking, since I'm spilling a lot of calcium in my urine, that perhaps this was a kidney stone (never had one before but there's always that first time, right?)    Saw my endo on Jan 20th and after hearing the story about the symptoms from eating that holiday meal, she suggested doing a gluten challenge. She said 2 weeks was fine- she said stopping it in the middle if symptoms got bad was fine- In the meantime I'd read that 2 weeks was not enough- called and argued with the nurse about this, but ultimately decided to stop the gluten on the 13th day and get the test done because I was in too much pain and almost suicidal and knew I could not continue.   so.............. that's where I am now I have had no bread since Sunday. I did have some rolled oats today and had some gas and bloating afterwards I did have some wheat germ in a smoothie on Tuesday and had a stomach ache later that night.   but overall I feel so much better! all the joint pain is gone! the nausea is gone. The stomach pain and gas and bloating are going away. Still a bit gassy but no more of that horrible odor. wow, that would clear a room if I was out in public!  I see a GI nurse March 4th  I hope she'll be able to help sort this out! can you think of what my next steps might be?

      Thanks for the reply.

What you’re describing is actually very common, and unfortunately the timing of the biopsy likely explains the confusion. Yes, it is absolutely possible for the small intestine to heal enough in three months on a strict gluten-free diet to produce a normal or near-normal biopsy, especially when damage was mild to begin with. In contrast, celiac antibodies can stay elevated for many months or even years after gluten removal, so persistently high antibody levels alongside the celiac genes and clear nutrient deficiencies strongly point to celiac disease, even if you don’t feel symptoms. Many people with celiac are asymptomatic but still develop iron and vitamin deficiencies and silent intestinal damage. The lack of immediate symptoms makes it harder emotionally, but it doesn’t mean gluten isn’t harming you. Most specialists would consider this a case of celiac disease with a false-negative biopsy due to early healing rather than “something else,” and staying consistently gluten-free is what protects you long-term—even when your body doesn’t protest right away.
