. . . She's 8!!! She just wants to ride a horse!!

Forgot to add, I love it when parents use this as an explanation! A friend was telling me that her son had to miss karate class because she forgot to wash his gui, and they aren't allowed to show up in a dirty gui. I asked how dirty it could be and she gave me that "I'd call you a complete idiot if I didn't have to talk to you again" look and said "He's 8. It's dirty."

Now I've seen everything.

What do the chickens think of this?

No major damage found on Lyle. Contralateral front and back feet are quite painful. He's been given pain meds, which he's quite enjoying, and some antibiotics, just in case. I'm supposed to just wait and see if he gets better. At least he feels better.

Poor guy :( Do cats get arthritis??

I'm just pooping in, hope all is well with everyone.

Just a heads up on FB, I removed all of the applications (except for Flair) so if you send me something and I dont accept its not because I dont love you  it's just that I dont have them on my page anymore......but I definitely still do Flair, which I get the biggest kick out of those little buttons :D:D

Three of my friends in the past month have gotten viruses through FB so make sure your computers are protected!

Now for a gluten free foods related question, my mom picked up a Glutino Pizza for me, has anyone tried one of these? I have only had the Amy's with the rice/sunflower seed crust before so I have no idea what the Glutino one is going to be like.

Miss you guys :wub::wub:

You're scaring me with FB viruses. Yikes!!!! :o That stinks. Sending "gifts" is all part of the FB fun, and some jerks have to go and ruin it

Glutino pizzas are very good. We've tried the four cheese and the feta/spinach--both delicious. Small, though. I send them with my daughter when she goes to a pizza party.

Perhaps the civckebs are using a little hidden kitty-voodoo doll in their crate. .... ... ..

"Take that you big cat!" poke-poke

But I've decided to spell it out for you . . .

The last time he took karate, when he got out of the car he rubbed/slid against the outside of the car and "dusted off" some of the road grime. When he got inside, he was too hungry to change first so he had a snack, dripped some chocolate milk on his shirt and just wiped the cheeto fingers off on his pants leg. He wrestle with the dog for a few minutes and got dog hair all over. The dog hair also made him sneeze and the closest kleenex was . . . you guessed it, his sleeve. Finally, he went upstairs to change . . . but got distracted and decided to chew one of those tablets that the dentist gives you to check how good of a job you did brushing your teeth, but for fun, he didn't brush his teeth first (or even after). He slightly rinsed that out of his mouth and dried his mouth on . . . yep, the sleeve again. He made it into his room where he changed clothes and put them where he always keeps them . . . wadded up in a ball under the bed with the dust bunnies and this time, he included his wet swimsuit from when he went swimming earlier in the day.

Does that help??

And I see Algernon came up, right around when I was recalling how I'd written my fears of the Algernon Effect on the OMG thread, nearly 2 yrs ago.

I remembered how it took 2 or 3 months before I could believe that feeling so great after going soy-free could possibly last.

Now I don't know if I'm any better than the yrs before soy-free.

Ptaum!!!!!!!!!! I am just glad to see you here, in any form. But so sorry your Algernon Affect is - wearing off? :( we have just GOT to get you better.

Perhaps tie a ribbon on it next time????

I've decided our Tea is like......Mother Goose er sumfin.

just magicla and enchanting and spreading fairy-tale goodness. :)

The civkeb togs remind me of my friends story. His son married some sort of wildlife biologist who's studying squirrels. To facilitate this she designed a little rodent capture suit, and she and my friend's wife spent Christmas sewing little squirrel straight-jackets. I'm still waiting for the pics.

squirrel straight jackets!!!! Are they for the criminally insane squirrels?

Poor Lyle :(

Her response when she was done with her first lesson . . . I think I found "my thing".

that is sooooooooo sweet!

I am absolutely TERRIFIED of horses.....always have been.....have ridden exactly twice in my life. The second time, as an adult. Sobbed for one solid hour before it was my turn. Got on. Terrified. Rode for about 30 minutes, was posting (is that what you call it?), LOVED IT.

So, I went to ride that horse a second time......but when my friend's husband was saddling her, she went, um, insane or something, and knocked him into the fence (nail in his forehead), reared up and kicked him with her hoof to the back of his head (he did require stitches).

Um...........that was my LAST time ever getting near a horse. Ever.

Wait no more . . . I found Open Original Shared Link.

Em, wow, very alarming to hear your friends still got viruses even with their software up to date

I don't like hearing about this virus/FB stuff  .....I don't even know how to send those things  I should do what Julie did.......soon as I figure out how

Patti, anything that you accepted that asked you to add the application in order for you to send it back has access to your stuff I guess, thats where I heard the viruses are coming from is the apps.

It's been a couple months since I deleted them, but I think I just pulled up each one in the search box at the top and went to the home page of the app. It has the option of removing this app. i.e. type in LivingSocial in the search box, go to Living Social page, scroll all the way to the very bottom and click on "LivingSocial" (next to "built by") that pulls up Living Social wall, scroll down and on the left you will see Remove this application option.

OK, as I type this I just got an email from another one of my firends saying they got the FB virus

Jess, I tried the Glutino Pizza and it was pretty good. Small individual size like Rachel said but the crust had a decent taste texture to it.

Hi Janet, good to see you too!

I got the Duo Cheese Glutino, it just had a little bit of marinara, and apparently a blend of 2 cheeses. I put some pepperoni slices on top.

I baked it on a cookie sheet and it wasnt as crisp as I would like, but I think you are just supposed to throw it in straight on the rack.

Hi JULES ((WAVING MADLY!)))))))))))

I missed Ptaum :(

Skeeter had her phirst horseback riding lesson today. I've been asked a few times in the process of signing her up, scheduling lessons . . ."Does she want to ride English or Western?", "Does she want to compete because then she will probably want to do English", "barrel racing?", "Is she interested in jumping?" . . . She's 8!!! She just wants to ride a horse!!

Her response when she was done with her first lesson . . . I think I found "my thing".

Gian-knit- this warmed my heart so much   I rode from when I was 8-15 years old and still ride when I get a chance. I'm telling ya- if I ever get the $$$$$$ I'm buying me a horse and Skeeter a pony.

Let me kknow if you have any questions (I rode English and competed in dressage and did a little jumping)

Show her

I think Judy was the one who sent it to me. I love the "Voulez Vous coucher (SP?) avec moi?" part.

My next door neighbor has a horse and I "met" her the other day- beautiful. Her name is Pickle  (short for Picadilly Circus).

I'm glad she had phun!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tom--sorry I missed you!

Nik, Jess, Suze--loved the new pictures on FB :D Keep 'em coming.

This virus scare has me rethinking the idea that I might actually post my girl's photos on there. I've been feeling pretty comfortable with it all, but now I don't know. How safe do you guys think it is?

And speaking of pictures of my kid, her teacher made a DVD for the kids to bring home with pictures and video from everything from the first day of school to the last field trip. It had music and special effects--twas AWESOME!!! Brought tears to me eyes. He was/is the best teacher I've ever met. him :D I gave him a big sister bear hug when we said goodbye.

Perhaps all children should be dressed in tie-dyed clothing until such time as they stop re-decorating what they're wearing.

Methinks all young children's clothing - - shirts, sweaters, jeans - - should come with Cheeto-cheese, ketchup, snot and other mucous, car grime, already splattered and sealed into the fabric. Permanently. It would actually be quite pretty, and could be simply added to with each wear. . . . ...:lol:

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. @catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
