Don't mean to be neglectful, I've had my head stuck in a pot Harry Potter book for the last 3 days. I just finished book 5 and I swear if one more person tells me "just wait and see what happens in book 6!" I will smack 'em. One person gave something HUGE away, didn't give away the complete detail (cuz I had my hands over my ears yelling "NO!!!") but I know what to look for now and Im pissed!!!! <_<

I've decided to go cold turkey on the headache meds just in case I've got the rebound effect taking place. So this will be day two without anything. I haven't gone more than one day (although I do that at least once a week) without taking something. So, Ruhschell, how long does it take to get rid of a rebound headache?

Usually by the 2nd day it's gone, or a lot better. by the 3rd day fo' sho

Yes, methinks there are much more romantic and effective ways for one deaf individual to communicate to another that he/she wants to... ...you know......than furiously signing.

Like grabbing the bloke's wrist and pulling him/her toward the bed.. ... . .....

I'm sooooo skeert about tomorrow.....See, I promised the kiddo's I'd take them to a birphday parteh, problem is, it's at one of those centers that's ALL jump houses. I wasn't planning on goink in the jump houses meselph, just watchin the little'uns. Anywho, it was pointed out to me today by one of the other moms, Like, DUH, you have to in there wif dem, they're only 4.....OK, me=bad mom. The problem lies here--do you know what happens to yer parts down there after you've naturally pushed a 10 pounder and a 8.5 pounder out, both of who had veeery grande heeds......Whether or not you think there is nuphin in yer bladder--guess what, there always is  I'm too young to wear diapers but I don't want to embarass my kids either   :o

Me thinks me's comin down wif the "Harry Potter" flu.....

Darn210 Enthusiast

Rachelle, funny you should mention that. I was just discussing the post-pregnancy bladder with my neighbor's daughter who had a little girl 5 months ago. It started with . . . Me: "How's she sleeping?" Her: "She just gets up once to guzzle 6 oz then she's out like a light." Me: "Well, that works out. You had to get up to go pee anyway." . . . then it just progressed naturally from there.

Loved the Harry Potter series.

Skeeter forgot her lunch today and didn't realize it until lunch time. I had to work today and wouldn't have been able to run it over anyway (they don't get much time <_< ). She told her teacher not to worry, she knew just what to do. The teacher accompanied her through the lunch line were Skeeter picked out a side salad, string cheese, yogurt and jello. The teacher was impressed that Skeeter kept her head and did actually know what to pick. I'm impressed that the teacher took her lunch time to make sure Skeeter picked out a safe lunch.

Something I found out today . . . Smackl calls Skeeter "his eternal torture" . . . awwwwww  isn't that about the sweetest thing evah??

Good morning, Psills!!

. . . Smackl calls Skeeter "his eternal torture" . . . awwwwww  isn't that about the sweetest thing evah??

 I found that this kind of thing actually got worse before it finally, in the last few months, started to get better. DD had conversation-stopping names for the Ripper, and Jack's for her found me wincing, but somewhat full of wonder and pride. .. . ....."Feckless Harbinger of Woe", "Knuckle-dragging Australopithecus". ........ . ..."The Face of Night Terrors"... . . .... . ..

Now they will actually speak to one another when we are not in the room orchestrating conversation. I usually will hear something like, "Can you pass me the remote?" Then silence, and then "What, ya got no arms?", then a pause and the sound of the remote clunking against The Ripper's chest as it is tossed over from across the room.

Please and thank you's will come, mehopes. .. . ....baby steps.... ... .......

Also loving The Ripper's terms of endearment (he is surely closer to recruitment age?? )

'Feckless Harbinger of Woe' is a moniker surely worthy of DC!!

Yes, hmmmm . .. ....sign for anal sex.... .. .. . ..think I got a pretty good guess on that one, too.... . ...

My computer class has people signing. After watching the woman sign "kick ass" I decided to email the instructor and suggest he come up with fun phrases for the interpreters to interpret.

There's an absolutely hysterical piece from NPR's wait wait don't tell me wherein the cast sees how funny the ASL version of "crap a pineapple" is and contrive to come up with more amusing things for the person to sign.

Yes, class, but mostly I just sort of took a break from life for a while. Didn't do anything I was supposed to (work, homework, housework, notice a similarity in those words?) and I'm the kind of person that will only do what she wants to do when she's done what she's supposed to do, so that's my story.

I think I'm through it now so I can chat again. I've missed you guys.

Well, it is another Saturday at the store.

Two women just had a lucky break. They had parked in our lot (we have 3 spaces) and left. After the car had been there over an hour, we called for a tag and a tow. The ticket was issued, but they came back about 2 minutes before the tow truck arrived. The minimum tow charge is $100, even if the driver has only started to hook up.

Sadly, once you hit about 40, the opportunity to do stuff you aren't supposed to drops precipitously. It all becomes either too dangerous, too expensive, or too much trouble.

Amen, Sister!!!

Headache update . . . Headaches are MUCH better. Perhaps twas rebound headaches after all . . . or the antibiotic is finally working. I don't suppose there is any way to tell. My neck has been sore/stiff though . . . mostly on the same side that I had the more significant eyeball pain (which is also MUCH better, especially today). Is there some lymph nodes back there or sumptin? Doesn't "feel" swollen or different. Always something.

I'm going to the Colts/Jets game tomorrow. Watch for me on TV. I'll be the one wearing a blue Colts sweatshirt.

flourgirl Apprentice

Hey everybody! I have been away much too long! No attempt has been made to catch up and read the last...who knows how many pages. The whole sight looks so different I wasn't sure I was in the right place!

Hope everyone is doing all right. I'm still wasting way too much time on FB and farming. Fun way to waste time, tho, and easy to keep in touch with my sisters (and other family) that way.

Today my heart is very sad, scared, lonely for my family. My Dad suddenly developed severe back pain, then could not move/feel his legs. The local hospital sent him to another hospital hours away (from upstate NY to Burlington Vermont). They discovered a blood clot in his spine that was compressing the nerves. Apparently it's been there long enough to cause some permanent damage. Time will tell how much...but he may never walk again. I have to tell you that this 84 year old still bales hay, cuts his own firewood...is so active and stronger than most men of any age that I know. They operated, removed the clot and some of a vertebra. He got through the surgery fine...but it's a long road ahead.

I knew I could tell you all about it and that you'd understand. Any of you who pray...please include my Dad, and the family. Thanks for being here and being such a wonderful group. I promise to keep more in touch.

elye Community Regular

Tareeeesuh!:wub: Been thinking about you all day, after reading your note on Da Book. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. What an incredible man he is, though! Eighty-four, and as active as all that? Amazing, and an inspiration. He's made it through the major surgery - - he will get better! :) He and your family have lots of shiny days coming. . ....

Dang......did it again and yeah I should admit I am 63 with clumsy phone thumbs. I started feeling better quickly and a doctor a year later said I had to eat  poison (gluten) every day for a month so he could formally diagnose me and NO FREAKING WAY. I couldn't then and can't imagine putting my body through that crap (no pun intended) on purpose ever again.  Why ingest poison for a month to have some doctor say Hey, All you Have To Do Is Never Eat poison Again..

15 years ago my best friend 'diagnosed' me as Celiac. Her little nephew had been formally diagnosed and her observations of me dealing with brain fog, stomach problems and other stuff had her convincing me to try going gluten free. Oh my heavens, within 3 days, no lie, I felt human again. Took me about a y

It seems like you have two choices--do a proper gluten challenge and get re-tested, or just go gluten-free because you already know that it is gluten that is causing your symptoms. In order to screen someone for celiac disease they need to be eating gluten daily, a lot of it--they usually recommend at least 2 slices of wheat bread daily for 6-8 weeks before a blood screening, and at least 2 weeks before an endoscopy (a colonoscopy is no used to diagnose celiac disease). Normally the blood panel is your first step, and if you have ANY positive results there for celiac disease the next step would be to take biopsies of your villi via an endoscopy given by a gastroenterologist.  More info on the blood tests and the gluten challenge beforehand is below: The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate. Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:   Not to discourage you from a formal diagnosis, but once you are diagnosed it may lead to higher life and medical insurance rates (things will be changing quickly in the USA with the ACA starting in 2026), as well as the need to disclose it on job applications. While I do think it's best to know for sure--especially because all of your first degree relatives should also get screened for it--I also want to disclose some negative possibilities around a formal diagnosis that you may want to also consider.
    • Wheatwacked
Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.
