M-m-m-m....<stroking chin>.....could be a southern manifestation of the royal earthquake.....

You may be off the hook, Kareighn.

I'd still like me polar co-ordinated scarf set B)

I'll work on that. It's not really scarf season here.

Went to PF Changs for the first time tonight. I have had regular PF Changs at neighborhood parties as the manager lives across the street. We got 2 gluten-free dishes - spicy chicken and beef with snow peas and used the coupon for free lettuce wraps. It was delicious. They made a big fuss about the Food being gluten-free.

The Changs that I have been to really seem to take pride in their gluten-free food. I just love it there :)

Tummy is full. Having a glass of wine... I want to go to bed but am waiting for the boys to get home from work.

I just had some tea-trying to stay awake but don't think I'll make it another 3 hours.

They should be home about 10:30 tonight. July 4 is the worst. They have to completely pack up a huge fireworks tent and put it into trucks. If they get done before the other tent, they go over there to help. Will probably be 2 a.m.

Just walked down to my public library to discover they're closed all weekend. Huff. At least I got some exercise.

Wish I was in on the mini-psillie gathering!

Well guys, believe it or not, my admitting physician was Dr. John Hung  , and I think he must have changed his name to compensate for the tiny thumbs, like little matchsticks they were .

A doc came wandering into my two-bed room yesterday morning (other bed empty) and poked his head around and said, "Are you Ms. Salcido??? (incredulously)" I said no, I was not, but asked was he Dr Hung??   You could tell I was feeling bettah!

Bah, forget the titles -- you should have simply asked him if we was Hung. . .. . ...

Didn't need to - I saw HIS thumbs too!

I used to work with a Dr. Wellington Hung.......

He even got a mention in Playboy for his name. I think he was a Pediatric Endocrinologist (Maybe?) but a urologist would have been better. :P

It's just too easy. I imagine his parents laughed hysterically every time they thought about the nicknames their son would get. He almost had to become either some prestigious professional, or a really good boxer.

OMG.. ... . .. must be something about pediatric endocrinologists - - after my diabetes diagnosis as a child, the endo I saw for the first two or three years was a rather severe, older German specialist named Berndt Koch.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. It has been a good day so far, but the heat is keeping me indoors at the moment. Fifteen minutes ago, the observation at the airport 2 miles west of here was 90F. With the humidity, it feels like 97F. It could be worse, though. The relative humidity is only 36%.

There is a bit of sadness in the house. Due to escalating problems, we had to send Bagheera back on Friday morning. The difficult and heartbreaking decision came on Thursday. He is such a sweet and loving little guy who gets along wonderfully with humans. Unfortunately, it seems that he needs to be in a one-cat household. :(:(

Sorry to hear about Bagheera. I'm sure he'll find a good home.

POeter, I am so sorry to hear this. A beautiful little kitten like Bagheera will find a new home quickly, for sure.

This brings me to other very sad news that I must mention to you, my dear friends. Our beautiful, dear rescued standard poodle, Charlie, is no longer with us. Such a sad tale, and I am still grieving. He had challenges when we adopted him -- he was devocalized, he had been abused, and he was middle-aged. There was fear of men, lack of socialization and a tendency to be unpredictable with strangers while on-leash due to fear.

Well, after SO much work, so much obedience training, desensitization and counter-conditioning, he still had a long way to go. Last week he suddenly bit Jack, and we knew that was it.... ..the final straw.

He was such a big, beautiful, loving animal. . . ..but some horrid, poor excuse for a human being mistreated him for the first five years of his life, and forever scarred him.

I only wish I had the guy's name.

We are all grieving, and perhaps looking at a new pup during the summer that can be Elsie's new friend.

Jestgar Rising Star

Oh Emmy, I'm so sorry. I guess your dad needed a dog and figured one trained by you would be the best kind.

I hope Jack understands that it wasn't Charlie's doing.

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
