I could probably put this out on another thread and get lots of ideas but ...Phfft! Why do that?

Here's the story:

Hub wants to have a little Xmas party for his employees/people he works with and spouses if they are so inclined. About 30 people. Trying to make this as easy as possible since most of it falls on me. We have decided to do a wine, cheese, chocolate type thing. Will have beer and soft drinks, too. gluten-free crackers, fruit...

I'm going to go heavy on cheese like cheddar from Costco but will get a few odder things. gluten-free crackers so I don't have to worry.

J & M make great fudge and toffee. J makes great PB truffles. I can make them, too, if they don't have time. Also, I have made some coffee/choc and amaretto truffles. I think I can make these ahead & freeze.

Here's the questions for my wise and experienced partiers:

Sound OK? Enough food?

Have to roll truffles in things. Can't use graham crackers unless I use a gluten-free kind. Use crushed peanuts and those little chocolate jummy sprinkle things. If I could get red & green ones, are they gluten-free? Will have to look.

Something else I could serve?

What do I do if someone brings glutinous cookies? I don't want to worry about the crumbs in my left overs. Hub maybe can tell them not to, they all know I have Celiac.

Thanks!

Dietz and Watson and Boars Head have gluten-free Ham. You could get it sliced thick and put it on toothpicks or thin and roll it.

Loey

Now Klark REALLY wants me to come lay down. I'm sure I'll be back later!

You won't want to come here. First we had the rampaging chimp, now we have pigs running loose in downtown. Turns out they just wanted to be petted. I have teen age boys running amuck by my house.

I took a nice long nap. Now we're going to couch plop again.

Thanks for all of the support and well wishes about the biopsy and our cousin. Now I'm going to call the restaurant where they're having lunch after to make sure I can have them microwave my lunch (in it's SEALED container) or if they have a gluten-free menu. Otherwise I can wait until I get home or snack in the car. I'll be able to nuke my dinner Sunday night at out cousins' house (while enjoying wine).

Somehow I think my airfare may be a little more, and don't say go cattle class cos I already do that :o And they even cut out the pre-dinner cocktails and you can't bring on yer own, and that's what used to make it bearable. I think you would need a lot more wodka if I was to come

Clay is the only one running amok in my house, and he does NOT want to be petted  Prefers to rage on about incompetence and possible conspiracy theories.... If he gets close enough I might try petting, but it will be dangerous

I don't see how cornstarch could alter the test results. Where did you read that?

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!

Welcome to the forum, @Xravith. I experienced similar symptoms before my diagnosis.  Mine were due to the loss of vitamins and minerals, essential nutrients we must get from our food.  With Celiac Disease, the intestinal lining, made up of thousands of villi, gets damaged and cannot absorb essential vitamins and minerals, especially the eight B vitamins.  The loss of Thiamine B 1 can cause muscle loss, inability to gain weight, edema (swelling), fatigue, migraines and palpitations.  Low thiamine can cause Gastrointestinal Beriberi with symptoms of nausea, abdominal pain and bloating.   Thiamine is only stored for a couple of weeks, so if you don't absorb enough from food daily, as the thiamine deficiency worsens physical symptoms gradually worsen.  If you're eating lots of carbs (like gluten containing foods usually do), you need more thiamine to process them (called high calorie malnutrition).  Thiamine works with all the other B vitamins, so if you're low in one, you're probably getting low in the others, too, and minerals like iron, magnesium, zinc, and calcium, as well as Vitamin D..  Talk to your doctor about checking for nutritional deficiencies.  Most doctors rarely recognize vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially in thiamine. Get a DNA test to see if you carry any Celiac genes.  If you do not have genetic markers for Celiac, it's probably IBS.  If you do have genetic markers for Celiac, it's probably Celiac.  I was misdiagnosed with IBS for years before my Celiac diagnosis.   Keep us posted on your progress. P. S. Deficiency in thiamine can cause false negatives on antibody tests, as can diabetes and anemia.

No she didn't because if I want to ask I have to pay 700$ for 1 hour appointment so I couldn't even ask. I read that fillers like cornstash can alter the result and tylenol contains it so that's why I tried to find someone who can answer.

Did the GI doc give you any rational for stopping the Tylenol during the gluten challenge? I have never heard of this before and I can't imagine a good reason for it. Ibuprofen, maybe, because it is an anti inflammatory but acetaminophen?  I don't see that it would have any impact on the test results to take Tylenol.
