Getting into the Christmas spirit??

We are not going - having picnic in the park - prawns, oven fried chicken, asparagus salad, pasta salad, lots of raspberries and strawberries and pavlova.... Weather has been in the 90's but is predicted to cool for Christmas, (but not rain!! :D ) However, whenever you arrange a Kiwi picnic it always rains. :)

My boys thought the picnic at the beach for Xmas is the best idea ever. However, it's a bit cold here for picnicking.

OMGawd sills--I'm eating Orgasmic Ville Chocolate Ice Cream....let me just say I'm almost as happy as Jess tonight

This stuff is pseriously good

Orgasmic Ville? Is that in Jersey?

Gah!

Quite a tourist destination, I would imagine. . . . ....

That sounds like a terrific idear. Shrooomie, I was posting at the same time that you were - - your Christmas festivities sound grand. Canna imagine a sweltering picnic on Christmas.. . . ...but I would sure like to try it!

DD has just gotten her drivers license, and has been assigned the duty of delivering MIL where she needs to go whilst here. Drug store, touristy Ottawa places..... . ... . .both cars should stay intact, and all local pedestrians, as well.

The last couple of times MIL took the two kids out for an afternoon of fun in the car, DS wore his catcher's mask and DD her hockey helmet and upper pads -- the two were seated in the back seat and snuck them on whilst she screeched out of the driveway.

She probably never as accidents. All the others on the road have them trying to avoid her.

My great aunt insisted that the reason for the hood ornament on a car was to line it up with the lines on the road. Funny, my dad never let her drive us.

Here's a joke for Russell's Max:

Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker were having one of their little father and son chats... lightsabers drawn and sparks flying. Vader pinned Luke against a bulkhead and glared into his face, "I know what you're getting for Christmas, Luke," he said, "Ohhh, yes! I know!" Luke fought himself free and jumped to a higher platfrom just out of Vader's reach, "How do you know!?" Luke yelled at him, "How do you know what I'm getting for Christmas!?" Darth Vader shot Luke an icy glare, "The force is with me... I felt your presents."

So, I just uncapped a bottle of spring water. The side where my thumb was suddenly caved in and I got a geyser of water all over my face....down the front of my sweater....on my jeans....

What a freakin klutz

I'm a pushover fer my boys too, Loughie :D

Glad to hear I'm not the only one Patti. My girlpfriend that I went shopping with spoils her kids when she can.

I told Tony at lunch yesterday that Clark pfeels like Tony broke up with him. I asked him if he could PLEASE watch a movie with his dad without his computer while I was out. They did but this morning Clark told me that Tony only did it because I told him to. I asked how he knew and he said Tony told him. I asked Tony about it this morning and how it came up. He said his dad asked him where his computer was and we taught him never to lie so he told the truth. Ever hear of a white lie I wanted to say. He's missing his pfriends at school and I'm grateful because he had a hard time finding his niche when he first started college. I just pfeel bad for DH because they were inseparable when Tony was growing up. Tony's out buying us Christmas presents and eating a glutened filled lunch right now. I pfeel like I got a mutation of what Clark has. Neither of us can get into our GP for months since we're knew patients. I think he should go into one of these walk in clinics but he doesn't believe in antibiotics.

Hugs,

Loey

P.S. pfor anyone knew to the thread my DH's name is really Rob but I'm Lois Lane and He's either Clark Kent or Superman (hence Clark)

Did anyone stay up last night to watch the eclipse? BE and I sat on his deck freezing and watched the end part. 'twas quite nifty.

And I'm quite tired today.

My son did and saw part of it. He said it was somewhat cool. He's very nonchalant these days. I want my old Tony back but have to let him grow up (Snoopy sigh). I went to reply yesterday but my computer went kerflooie on me. Elf mischief?

Getting into the Christmas spirit??

Last week, young lad aged about 10 playing Away in a Manger on the recorder outside grocery store at mini-mall. Each time I walked past he missed a note badly in the last line. The third time I waited, he missed again and I couldn't help a chuckle. Gave me a glare!! Last time, I waited and he hit it!! He flashed me a triumphant smile and a left some coins in his cap. :D

This week, same store, two 14-15 year-olds with guitars, playing --- wait for it -- Hard Day's Night  Maybe they were anticipating Santa's heroic feat

Same day, driving home for about 12 miles on highway behind a van with graffiti style writing across the back. A formal graphic 0800 number on the back window and a website obscured by the wiper blade, phinally deciphered as webcamera.com. What did the graffiti say? "Crude and Violent Nudity. Occasional Language"!!! Logged on when I got home and I guess I should have expected it - cell phone cameras under bathroom stall doors, all kinds of obnoxious perversity. Who would drive around with that on their van?:rolleyes:

Had my favourite nice and current squeeze to stay last night so that raised the Christmas tone a little - she is heading to Wellington for Christmas with my sister's family, sister's ex and second wife, their kids and assorted hangers on. I understand Viv is erecting a marquee on the lawn :o Poor Viv always get stuck with the hosting - oh yeah, all Viv's hub's family are coming too. We are not going - having picnic in the park - prawns, oven fried chicken, asparagus salad, pasta salad, lots of raspberries and strawberries and pavlova.... "Had my favourite nice and current squeeze to stay last night " another person us old married pfarts can live through vicariously. Hope you enjoyed for all of us! Clark and I are asleep by 9. Don't get me wrong - he's my sweetie but after 22 years you don't wear sexy lingerie that often.

Enjoy!

'k Doin' my personal statement for grad school. Anybody wanna explain to me why I want to apply to the biostatistics program?

celiac-mommy Collaborator

'k Doin' my personal statement for grad school. Anybody wanna explain to me why I want to apply to the biostatistics program?

Because:

Among the important scientific developments of the 20th century is the explosive growth in statistical reasoning and methods for application to studies of human health. Examples include developments in likelihood methods for inference, epidemiologic statistics, clinical trials, survival analysis, and statistical genetics. Substantive problems in public health and biomedical research have fueled the development of statistical methods, which in turn have improved our ability to draw valid inferences from data. The objective of Biostatistics is to advance statistical science and its application to problems of human health and disease, with the ultimate goal of advancing the public's health.

Feel free to cut and paste that into your statement! I did :D

I agree with @trents that the IgA you listed sounds like a total IgA, not celiac-specific, if 114 is normal.  Were any other antibody tests run?
    • Russ H
What you describe is seronegative villous atrophy (negative antibody tests but positive biopsy). It is uncommon in coeliac disease, and there are other causes, but the most common cause is coeliac disease. I would pursue this with your healthcare provider if possible. Based on clinical history, test results and possible genetic testing for susceptibility to coeliac disease it should be possible to give a diagnosis. There is a bit more here: Seronegative coeliac disease
    • Scott Adams
If you are still eating gluten you could get a celiac disease blood panel done, but I agree with @trents and the gold standard for diagnosing celiac disease would be your endoscopy results. Is it possible they did do a celiac disease panel before your biopsy? This would be the normal chain of events. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.

Actually, it would be more correct to say that the genetic potential to develop celiac disease is passed down from parents to children. About 40% of the general population has the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% of the general population actually do. But it is also true that the offspring of those who do have active celiac disease are at a considerably higher risk of developing active celiac disease than those of parents who have the genes but don't develop the disease. Some recent, larger studies put the risk at near 50% for the first degree relatives of those who have active celiac disease.

Hello everyone! Been a while since I posted. The past few moths have been the best by for recovery for myself. I have been the least bloated I have ever been, my constant throat clearing is almost gone, I have stopped almost all medication I was prevously taking (was taking vyvanse for adhd, pristiq for anxiety,fomotadine/blexten for histamine blockers and singulair). Only thing I take now is Tecta. I also no longer get any rashes after eating. Things are going very well. Most success came actually once I upped my B12 daily dose to 5,000 mcg. I do have one thing I am un able to figure out and want to see if anyone else has this issue or has experience working around it. Ever since I was born I have always had a issue getting fruits and veggies down. No matter how hard I tried, it would always result in gagging or throwing up. Always just thought I was a picky eater. Now that my stomach and system has healed enough that I can feel when something is off almost istantly, I notice that after eating most fruits (sometimes I am ok with bananas) and veggies, my stomach instantly starts burning and my heart starts to pound and I get really anxious as if my body doesnt know what to do with what just enetered it. So I am thinking now that this is what probably was going on when I was born and my body started rejecting it before which caused this weird sensory issue with it causing the gagging. Hoping someone has some exprience with this as well because I would love to be able to enjoy a nice fruit smoothie once in a while haha. Thanks everyone!
