Happy New Year, other side of the world!

On my side of the world, we are trying to get in all the weather types possible before midnight. Warm (60F), tornados, thunderstorms, heavy winds and ice turning to a little snow. My neighborhood is in the icy stage moving towards the snow stage.

Kansas always does like to go to extremes with its weather - the only weather they don't do well is balmy ocean breezes

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Rabbits! Why did I think of rabbits?? Oh yeah, they have (or get) pink eye, and "the rabbit didn't die" :P Good news for you and the rabbit!

We had one last night and I missed it too - thought it was New Year party raucousness <_< But t'was only a 3.7, so could be mistaken for a gust of wind. Now on Boxing Day we had another good one, right under the CBD and only about 5 km deep - that one really shook the place up again at a 4.9; more parapets fell, more buildings condemned, everything had to be reinspected, more places cordoned off, even our earthquake proofed cathedral suffered some minor damage and they removed the big cross for safety purposes. Nonetheless, New Year's official celebrations were held in Cathedral Square last night as usual, using the slogan "We are strong, We are survivors, We are Canterbury!" (name of our province).

Hub had the same experience as I did 10 years ago with the Loma Prieta quake - totally didn't feel it and he was right downtown too, except he was in his car amongst frenzied would-be shoppers, when the woman in front of him jumped out of her car and went running in a panic, arms waving frantically in the air. He wondered what was up with this crazy woman, for whom this was obviously one earthquake too many :huh::unsure:

Meanwhile, my housesitter lady went on vacation up north and got caught in a phlash phlood (or drove into too-deep running water or something) and got swept 100 metres down the road, ended up in a ditch, she and her phriend kneeling on their seats with water above their waists - they made it out safely but her Rav4 didn't :( Now she has been stranded up there with phlooded roads, washed out bridges, highways blocked by slips, and trying to get her insurance to come through with a new car payment. The tenting holidaymakers didn't fare too well either  The Gods seem to be having a bit of a go at us Down Under pholks, but the poor Queenslalnders in Oz are getting the worst of it

Anyways, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! to all psillies. May the force be with you!

Cutting it close, every symptom, getting skeert  Turns out, I think all the sugar and crap I've been eating the past 2 weeks just magnified all the PMS symptoms, which for me are all the beginning signs of being preggo. AND, after the hub's snip-snip last spring, he never went back in to make sure he's shootin blanks. He say's "I'm sure it's fine" to the most fertile woman alive

BTW, where do you live Shroomie? I've been getting really confused and would love us to start posting continents. I just ate dinner because I decided carrying a bag of veggies would draw too much attention to me and I'm meeting my neighbors for the firs time. I haven't been to a New Year's Party sine Y2K. Clark and I love to stay at home all cozy and snugggly but really do need to meet our neighbors. Party is at 8 and it's 6 here so I'm procrastinating. We're walking to the party and it's uphill so I'm a little concerned about walking downhill after imbibing. Maybe Clark will get the car and drive a block and a half so I don't start the New year with bruises.

Wishing all my psilles a HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR. I'd be lost without you!

Hugs,

Loey Lane.

The follow up is no big deal (been there, done that). You provide a sample to be tested. You could make it a condition: No checkup, no nookie.

And, he won't go blind from giving the sample.

Still procrastinating about getting ready for the party. Believe it or not I get shy when I meet new people (not that you could tell from here). At least I showered and blew my hair dry. Now for the curling, make-up and oh yes, the clothes. I don't think Clark is wearing his cape.

Hoppy Gnu Year Again and thanks for making my dealing with all my illnesses a LOT easier. You are all the best!!!!

I hope Lo & Clark remembered the clothes before heading to the party. The surprise on the face of host's teen age boy or girl who is taking guest's coats! Or the rude comments and hysterical laughter if it were my boys.

Staying in where it is warm. The 62 from yesterday has turned to a wind chill of 0.

Happy New Year!

We pulled out many coloUrs of the classic, fine-lined Sharpie last evening and drew all over each others' faces... . . .Ya know, just normal New Years' Eve madness. ..... .

We remembered the clothes (I actually got dressed up). Before we left Clark asked if we were going to be bored. Well we were actually the last to leave. We have lovely neighbors and the hostess looked up Celiac and had a shrimp and scallop platter that she kept away from everyone else. I enjoyed my wine. I have pain today but it was worth it and actually I've had pain since September so I don't think it was from the party.

I think we'll keep Clark's identity a secret.

Kareeenng- I can't thank you enough for bringing me to the psilles. Have a happy and healthy New Year!

I made it through the holiday w/o being glutened. I had my brother cook with gluten-free breadcrumbs and I didn't get sick. I baked cookies with gluten-free flour and had dry ingredients for cookies in ziplock bag. I also made gluten cookies as well and guess I did good washing to avoid CC. My wife also went to a french bakery and bought a gluten-free flourless chocolate cake dedicated gluten-free it was out of this world.

What do you mean it would not allow any celiac to eat gluten again. I think if this helps cross contamination when eating out at a non dedicated gluten-free restaurant this would be nice not to encounter the pains. But is their a daily enzyme to take to help strengthen the digestive system?

Hi, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, no other antibody tests were ordered. I am a 32-year-old male. About two months ago, I ate pancakes and then developed severe diarrhea that lasted the entire day. At night, I became unconscious due to fluid loss and was admitted to the ER, where I received IV fluids. Two days later, I ate bread again and once more developed severe diarrhea. I ended up in the ER again and received IV fluids. In my country, Pakistan, doctors are unfortunately not very thorough, so they treated me for a stomach infection. I visited three or four doctors, including a gastroenterologist, but it seemed like they just wanted to keep me on medications and IV fluids. Eventually, I did some digging myself and started connecting the dots. For years, I’ve had excessive gas buildup and frequent loose stools, but I never paid much attention to it. I also cannot easily digest dairy products. Two years ago, I had a CBC test that showed iron deficiency. My doctor told me to eat more meat and said it was nothing serious. However, for the past five years, I’ve also had severe motion sickness, which I never experienced before. Whenever I get on a bus or in a car, I sometimes lose consciousness for 10–20 seconds and wake up sweaty, and occasionally I feel the need to vomit. After more research on the internet, I came across gluten and celiac disease, so I got two related tests (TTG-IgA & TTG IgG) done along with a stool test and another CBC. The stool test showed weakly positive blood. Ever since eating those pancakes and bread, I’ve had a burning sensation in my gut. My doctor reviewed my tests, he told me to completely stop eating gluten and started me on IV fluids for 20 days, saying that I had severe inflammation in my gut. It has now been two months since I quit gluten, and I’m still not sure whether this is celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I don’t really trust doctors in Pakistan, so I thought I might get some help here.

Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SamAlvi! Were there any other antibody tests ordered? Particularly, was there a "total IGA" test ordered to check for IGA deficiency. When people are IGA deficient, celiac panel IGA test scores, such as the TTG-IGA, are likely not valid. If a total IGA test was not ordered, I would request such to be done. Note: "Total IGA" goes by other names as well. I will include a primer on celiac disease antibody testing which does a good job in covering the nomenclature variations connected with the various tests. Elevated IGG scores can certainly indicate celiac disease but they are more likely than elevated IGA tests to be caused by something else.

Thank you— yes, valid and essential— The issue either doctors is that every one I have tried to talk to about this has essentially rolled their eyes and dismissed me as a hypochondriac, which gets discouraging. I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—
