I don't think mens stay in there long enuphph to get to know each other that well. Perhaps they are even a bit paranoid  about getting to know someone in the mens room???

We are getting mist right now. My driveway has some girls in little skirts twirling around. It's right at about 30 and the roads in the southern part of KC are ok now. A bit north like St Joe, it's a real icy mess ( about 1 hr drive north). Every station has slightly different time frames for the snaugh. Some as early as 10pm some not until tomorrow at 9 am. Guaranteed to mess up school again!

Loey Rising Star

But Loey.... We changed the topic! No more barfing allowed! We are coughing now! :P

Luckily it was a 24 hour thing. Now I need to catch up with the coughing ohmy.gif

So I just got off with the disability office for my interview. Talk about harrowing!!!! I was flustered the entire time and somehow my dates of jobs didn't jive. I couldn't find doctor's phone numbers. It will be a miracle if I don't get rejected. I much rather get well and get a job (as if there are any).

Thanks to all my psillies for making me smile after all of that. You are the best!!!!

And you pholks are anticipatin' driving in that stuph??

Ummm . . . . . . not me . . . actually, the school decides what we will do. If this all really happens (cuz sometimes it doesn't actually happen), I predict we'll be out of school at least two days.

We are supposed to get this messy storm on Wednesday.. . . . ..perhaps a foot of psnaough - - pffffffffft, a mere pittance. . .....

Things have been unseasonably warm up in Whitehorse, the starting point of the Yukon Quest. It has been averaging only -24 during the day, and ideal sled conditions are -32 to -45. They are all simply praying for colder weather.

If you can imagine.

It's 30 degrees and raining...Snow doesn't bother me (other than our neighborhood's cheapass policy of waiting for the city to come through to clear the streets which can take up to 72 hours). I don't have a problem driving in/on snow. Ice is a different story. I'll just stay home thank you veddy much.

Glad M's butt is safe . . . do you bubble wrap it to keep it so?

Patti!!! Tis time to wean yerself off that coff!! . . . I've still got mine, mind you, but it doesn't keep me up at night and it is getting ever-so-slighty bettah each day.

Awwwww come on Jyannut! Don't sugar-coat it! We are expecting downed power lines. Streets slicker'n snot. All the generators are sold out, as well, I'm sure, as all bread and milk from here to Canada. :o

Don't think I have strep, as it has migrated to my sinuses.

BTW......I take the blame for this storm. Happens evertime I have my winter dentist appointment. It's scheduled for Wed.

Hmmmmm . . . Lisa's to blame, sinus infection, snotty streets . . . that's one helluva snot producing infection. You're taken down the whole midwest!

Actually . . . who's flipped over or about to flip over?? That's who I'm blamin'!!!

You might consider asking for a referral to a RD (Registered Dietician) to help with food choices and planning a diet. Even apart from any gluten issues, you will likely find there are some foods you need to avoid because of the shorter bowel but you may also find that your system may make adjustments over time and that symptoms may improve.
    • Ello
I wish Dr’s would have these discussions with their patients. So frustrating but will continue to do research. Absolutely love this website. I will post any updates on my testing and results.  Thank you

Losing 12" of your small bowel is going to present challenges for you in nutritional uptake because you are losing a significant amount of nutritional absorption surface area. You will need to focus on consuming foods that are nutritionally dense and also probably look at some good supplements. If indeed you are having issues with gluten you will need to educate yourself as to how gluten is hidden in the food supply. There's more to it than just avoiding the major sources of gluten like bread and pasta. It is hidden in so many things you would never expect to find it in like canned tomato soup and soy sauce just to name a few. It can be in pills and medications.  Also, your "yellow diarrhea, constipation and bloating" though these are classic signs of a gluten disorder, could also be related to the post surgical shorter length of your small bowel causing incomplete processing/digestion of food.

Yes this information helps. I will continue to be pro active with this issues I am having. More testing to be done. Thank you so much for your response.

There are two gluten-related disorders that share many of the same symptoms but differ in nature from each other. One is known as celiac disease or "gluten intolerance". By nature, it is an autoimmune disorder, meaning the ingestion of gluten triggers the body to attack it's own tissues, specifically the lining of the small bowel. This attack causes inflammation and produces antibodies that can be detected in the blood by specific tests like the TTG-IGA test you had. Over time, if gluten is not withheld, this inflammation can cause severe damage to the lining of the small bowel and even result in nutrient deficiency related health issues since the small bowel lining is organ where all the nutrition found in our food is absorbed.  The other is NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or just "gluten sensitivity") which we know less about and are unsure of the exact mechanism of action. It is not an autoimmune disorder and unlike celiac disease it does not damage the lining of the small bowel, though, like celiac disease, it can cause GI distress and it can also do other kinds of damage to the body. It is thought to be more common than celiac disease. Currently, we cannot test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out to arrive at a diagnosis of NCGS. Both disorders require elimination of gluten from the diet.  Either of these disorders can find their onset at any stage of life. We know that celiac disease has a genetic component but the genes are inactive until awakened by some stress event. About 40% of the general population has the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% develop active celiac disease. The incidence of NCGS is thought to be considerably higher. I hope this helps.
