I am emerging from the tsunami drowned, gaping head wound, bloody staples, projectile vomiting a'la exorcist, pinning down a 5yo boy to keep him calm and gash free, 19 hours of OT in 24 hours world! It is my first day back to work in 2 weeks (besides the call day from Hell...)!!:P

I have read the last 10 pages, too much to individually comment on, but I shall say that I am sooooo happy to hear the good medical news, intrigued about the 3 vagina/forked dork marsupials, and I am also in need of boobs!

The hub is on his way out of town this weekend to have a 'boys weekend' up in the mountains somewhere. I am pretty sure I will be staying out of the ER ;) My hub, however, has just completed a bottle each of bourbon, vokda and rum to take with him. He may be the one ending up in the ER!

My dd went to a slumber party this weekend and learned to play Truth or Dare... One of the dares was to drink Pepsi straight out of the 2L bottle.... I am having high school flashbacks and panic attacks all at the same time! I'm going to have to talk to her about good decision making. Me thinks there is a fine line between talking to her and giving her idears

Not sure what else to say. I shall tell a bit of a phunny story. So after the tsunami, son's gaping head wound, heart issue on the plane, son's vomiting-sending him back to the ER for a CT, blah, blah, blah... I had been holding up pretty well, no major breakdown, not much crying, I got to the airport anxious to get home, got in the wrong freakin line for security, made it ALL the way to the front of the line, passed my stuff thru the scanner, and the TSA agent walks over with my beach bag and asks if it's mine. Yes, I say. He asks if I have a jar of jam in the bag. Yes, I say (preface, I had been searching for this frickin jar of jam for 5 days, found it on the last morning and paid 10$ for it!!!). He says, you can't take that on the plane with you. I say, WHAT?! He says, You can check that suitcase there... I say, NO, I do NOT want to check my suitcase! The tears are starting to roll down my face and he's staring at me like, It's just a freakin jar of jam. Looks at me in the eyes as he DROPS the jar into the trash. Now I'm sobbing and now I have 3 TSA douschebags standing there staring at me fumble with my shoes and gather my stuff. My mother happened to be at the airport at the SAME time flying from Oahu to Maui, I ran to her like a 5yo bawling, she was bawling and my stepdad looked soooooo awkward and uncomfortable standing a few feet away and patting our backs  What people musta thought! To make matters worse, I went to rearrange some stuff in my bag and found 2 opened 6oz bottles of sunscreen that they didn't take away... But they took a security closed and sealed freaking jar of jam!:P

Glad to be home :D

Mygawd, Rah-shyellle..........:( What a time you've had! Those tears finally came.......SO glad it was with yer mom!

My goodness, Rayshell, you do have such relaxing vacations :P Glad momma was there to hold your hand and kiss it and make it all bettah! Now if we can just get the job under control....

jerseyangel Proficient

Been thinking 'bout you, Rash....gosh what a time you've had--and I was wondering when you would let the tears come. So glad yer mom was there at that moment--and wow, that she was there in the airport was kinda amazing!

Hugs to you and wee M.

Thanks . We're all fine. The vaca was actually pretty good if you edit out the drama. My goal was to sit on a different beach every day and that's exactly what I did! I am in love with Kailua and I want to move there yesterday! Sleepy little town, beautiful beach, perfect weather... Life seems so much simpler there. So relaxed. Maybe a bit too relaxed when it takes 20 minutes to get yer latte and there's only 1 person in front of you

Max seems to be recovered. I don't know much about head trauma, so hopefully we don't have any lasting effects! He never had any neuro issues though, thank God!! I really think this all happened because I am too controlling and I take on way too much! This was God's way of telling me that my husband can handle more than I give him credit for and that it's ok to ask for help every once in a while!! ;)

I told the kids I was never leaving them again. Madeleine just suggested I take them with me next time.....duh!

The shot was REALLY painful. Today I can sit up for shot periods of time. He said it would take 2-3 days to work. I pointed out another area i was having pain and he ordered a pelvic CT scan to make sure my hip is all right. It's funny that my spine is giving me more trouble than the celiac and might have been causing my pain all these months. So glad I changed GI's (plus new GI discovered the CLL).

Sending prayers that all my psilles are feeling well and surviving nature's wrath on us (we're due to get 4-5 inches and then flooding).

Hugs,

Loey

The scandal with the TSA used to be that they made young women take off thier underwire bras in the security line. Now they are absconding with young women's jam! Outrageous!

The boys have headed off in school vans to Chicago for the midwest regional. Can be watched on www.ilfrc.org We are team 2410 with silver cowboy hats. I will be flying up tomorrow. Could not ride for what would feel like 30 hours.

I know, tis ridiculous to leave me jamless yet I'm left with 12oz of sunscreen that I don't need here in Oregon! <_<

It was Lilikoi butter, which is the most amazing passionfruit jam I have ever tasted in my life. Eat it straight outta the jar!

I knew there had to be a name for names, just never thought about it. I am a double -ian, a Cantabrian - the province (also known as one-eyed Cantabrian  because of our fierce loyalty) and a Christchurchian (slightly broken :P ) - the city).

Check your multivitamin to see if it contains Thiamine Mononitrate, which is a "shelf-stable" form of thiamine that doesn't break down with exposure to light, heat, and time sitting on a shelf waiting to be sold.  Our bodies have difficulty absorbing and utilizing it.  Only 30% is absorbed and less can be utilized.   There's some question as to how well multivitamins dissolve in the digestive tract.  You can test this at home.  YouTube has instructional videos.   Talk to your nutritionist about adding a B Complex.  The B vitamins are water soluble, so any excess is easily excreted if not needed.  Consider adding additional Thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) or thiamine hydrochloride.   Thiamine is needed to help control electrolytes.  Without sufficient thiamine, the kidneys loose electrolytes easily resulting in low sodium and chloride.   We need extra thiamine when we're emotionally stressed, physically ill, and when we exercise regularly, are an athlete, or do physical labor outdoors, and in hot weather.  Your return to activities and athletics may have depleted your thiamine and other B vitamins to a point symptoms are appearing.   The deficiency symptoms of B vitamins overlap, and can be pretty vague, or easily written off as due to something else like being tired after a busy day.  The symptoms you listed are the same as early B vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially Thiamine.  Thiamine deficiency symptoms can appear in as little as three days.  I recognize the symptoms as those I had when I was deficient.  It can get much worse. "My symptoms are as follows: Dizziness, lightheaded, headaches (mostly sinus), jaw/neck pain, severe tinnitus, joint stiffness, fatigue, irregular heart rate, post exercise muscle fatigue and soreness, brain fog, insomnia.  Generally feeling unwell." I took a B 50 Complex twice a day and extra thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine and TTFD.  I currently take the Ex Plus supplement used in this study which shows B vitamins, especially Thiamine B 1, Riboflavin B2, Pyridoxine B 6, and B12 Cobalamine are very helpful.   A functional evaluation of anti-fatigue and exercise performance improvement following vitamin B complex supplementation in healthy humans, a randomized double-blind trial https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10542023/

I am taking a multivitamin which is pretty bolstered with B’s.  Additional Calcium, D3, Magnesium, Vit C, and Ubiquinol.  Started Creapure creatine monohydrate in June for athletic recovery and brain fog.  I have been working with a Nutritionist along side my Dr. since February.  My TTG IGA levels in January were 52.8 and my DGP IGA was >250 (I don’t know the exact number since it was so high).  All my other labs were normal except Sodium and Chloride which were low.  I have more labs coming up in Dec.  I make my own bread, and don’t eat a lot of processed gluten-free snacks.
    • knitty kitty
@Scatterbrain, What supplements are you taking? I agree that the problem may be nutritional deficiencies.  It's worth talking to a dietician or nutritionist about.   Did you get a Marsh score at your diagnosis?  Was your tTg IgA level very high?  These can indicate more intestinal damage and poorer absorption of nutrients.   Are you eating processed gluten free food stuffs?  Have you looked into the Autoimmune Protocol Diet?
    • knitty kitty
Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can make TMJ worse.  Vitamins like B12 , Thiamine B1, and Pyridoxine B6 help relieve pain.  Half of the patients in one study were deficient in these three vitamins in one study below. Malabsorption of vitamins and minerals is common in celiac disease.  It's important to eat healthy nutrient dense diets like the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, a Paleo diet that has similarities to the Mediterranean diet mentioned in one of the studies.   Is there a link between diet and painful temporomandibular disorders? A cross-sectional study https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12442269/   Nutritional Strategies for Chronic Craniofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders: Current Clinical and Preclinical Insights https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11397166/   Serum nutrient deficiencies in the patient with complex temporomandibular joint problems https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2446412/
    • Iam
Yes.  I have had the tmj condition for 40 years. My only help was strictly following celiac and also eliminating soy.  Numerous dental visits and several professionally made bite plates  did very little to help with symptoms
