Will the catastrophe happen within 24 hours?

Maybe I'll take the wine & sit in a dry bath tub. That should be safe, right?

It may not even happen to you--the ensuing event has been known to cross-psillie. You want to be alert, but it could hit any one of us instead.

I'm keeping my head down, but a group of about 1000 G20 protesters are clashing with over 100 police in riot gear about five miles south of here. The are also reports of a possible major gas leak at the same location with fire crews responding.

The G20 Summit is here in TO this weekend. The main venue is the Convention Centre downtown, about 6.5 miles south of my store. There are about 19,000 police and military security between this location and the G8 meeting (in progress now) in Huntsville, about 135 miles north of the city.

Various nutheads always show up to protest. ;)

Not to change the topic, but did I tell you guys the exploding vial story last week? I shoulda kept track of my post count - I'm sure it was related.

I don't believe so--what happened?

Jestgar Rising Star

Little issue with the cells stored in liquid nitrogen. Vials started exploding while my tech was putting new vials away. I recognized the sound and ran into the hall to find my tech hiding behind the door gesturing aimlessly with her mouth and eyes wide open. Vials still shooting out of the box.

I ran over and put the lid on the box both laughing and screaming at the same time while the secretary stood down the hall screaming OH OH OH. Managed to get the lid on and the box back into the liquid nitrogen tank. I could hear more vials exploding, but they weren't going anywhere.

At lab meeting I presented my tech with bags of silver and gold 'medals' for bravery (chocolate), and a purple heart for injuries sustained in battle (a sad looking puppy wearing a purple heart necklace).

And you all thought science was dull....

Watch out, Jess. Sounds like you're getting to be an ole softy. :).

(love the medal idea- Hub might borrow it)

Maybe I should just take some wine & hide in bed! Wait! I might spill it all over the bed!

Ahhh... . . . .an old, classic move well known in the annals of Psillyville.. . . . . ...

Say, Queen Emily, about the earthquake... Somebody told me that is the fault of Quebec. ;)

I also heard that it was an unsuccessful attempt by Quebec to separate. :o

Things seem quiet on the G20 front at the moment. The protesters have returned to the park where they started their march and seem to be setting up camp for the night.

Tomorrow will be interesting as the G8 entourage move to Toronto for the G20 which begins with a dinner Saturday.

Obama arrived at Toronto's largest airport, Pearson Intl, at 10:30 this morning and switched from Air Force One to a Marine helicopter for the trip to Huntsville. I assume that the same method will bring him back to Toronto tomorrow, but nobody is saying where it will land. There is an airport on an island in the harbour where it could land. There are also some buildings where a rooftop landing would be possible.

Plan is for us to drive in together, and them for me to leave Jacquie to be bored to death mind the store, and I will come back and pick her up at closing.

Yep... . .. .the epicentre was in Buckingham, RIGHT along the Quebec-Ontario border.. .....they were trying to pry themselves away, methinks... . . ..... .<_<

Right where my brother lives... . ... . oy, and here he thought he'd be much removed, far away from all the ruckus.... . ..

I love Toronto. Was there about 2 years ago. Can picture all this. What a mess. But I see that commerce must go on ... Eaton Center will bravely remain open. Lovely Science Center, too. We had much scientific fun.

They will certainly try again - better tape down your inventory.

It's always the fault of Quebec

And what is this leaving Jacquie to her own devices, throwing her to the wolves so to speak, deserting a recovering patient....is this the action of a true gentleman? :o

Having nothing to do with the topic at hand: I just had PB all melty on toast. Yum! All my life, I would have a PB sandwich or on toast and feel bloated and blechy for hours after. I could eat small amounts of PB straight from the jar. Just thought all the fat or something made it hard to digest. Not anymore! It was the bread all along! :)

All is quiet at the moment.

Does anybody know of a guide that ranks reevaluates universities and colleges in terms of their accommodation of celiac disease or food allergies?   Thanks in advance for any leads! Valerie
    • thejayland10
thank you, i have been doing that the last few weeks and will continue to do so. I had not had my ttg iga checked since I was diagnosed 14 yrs ago so I am not sure if they ever dropped below the 15-20 range.    all my other labs are completely normal but I am concerned that this may be signs of refractor celiac or something else since I'm so careful with gluten-free diet
    • Scott Adams
Around 9% of celiacs cannot tolerate any oats, even gluten-free oats. It might be worth eliminating them for a few months, then get re-tested.
    • thejayland10
I only eat certifed gluten-free products but a lot of which are processed. Could there be trace gluten in those or is that very unlikely?
    • Scott Adams
For people with celiac disease hidden gluten in their diets is the main cause of elevated Tissue Transglutaminase IgA Antibodies (tTG-IgA), but there are other conditions, including cow's milk/casein intolerance, that can also cause this, and here is an article about the other possible causes (you may want to avoid oats):
