Well, Paghteeigh, you've done the first obligatory thing: Asking Oracle POeter. B)

Sometimes I see phunny, incomplete "new content" displays. Try going to the main page and just above the active members list, click on "Today's active content." That will give all topics updated within the past 24 hours.

It was a rainy day in Toronto. A very rainy day, with an inch expected over 24 hours. If I wanted weather like this I'd have moved to Vancouver. :D

You could live in Kansas City. We got about 3 inches yesterday. Worse for the dog is that there was thunder most of the day. He wouldn't go out to do his bodily business until it stopped and Hub went with him at 10:30 pm.

Your hub won't go out to do his poops or pees in thunderstorms either? They both must have been dancing around the back door 'til 10:30.. .. . ..

:P

I just roasted a tray phull of almonds. Like 'em better that way :)

Awkward phrasing. Hub will go out in thunderstorms! :P

Like them better on a tray?

If they're roasted :P

If they're roasted :P

Me, too.. . . . . there's no comparison! I don't actually roast them that often.. . . . . ....when I do, I just keep throwing them back by the handful.

There's, what, 200 calories in a single almond?

  He looks quite heeelarryus. Like a little, gangly teenager, tripping over his big paws but carrying around a rather mature haircut. Elsie is now having trouble pinning him down - - he's growing into those feet!

My Vancouver or yours ;) It's been muggy, rainy and sunny  . The muggieness is soooo uncomfortable. You look outside, see it's raining, pull on a sweater and Ugg's, walk outside and you're sweating buckets in 2 seconds  Make up yer mind!!!

So the 4th grade classes were split. 23 kids in each class. DD decided that she wanted to stay with the current teacher bc she loves her to pieces. That means that she will just have to deal with the boy, keep her distance and keep her eyes and ears open-as will I!!

Good practice for life. Learning to recognize and deal with a wierd guy will help her later, too. Who knows, this year he might like another girl to torment. I remember you said his Dad died. Unfortunately, my boys have had several friends who have lost fathers. Seems like they do OK for 6-12 months then have about a year of problems. Being boys, the anger and hurt comes out as agression. Not acceptable, certainly. Hopefully, he is getting help for that. Good luck!

I agree! Also, it's her body, she has bo be in charge of it. She needs to learn how to stand up for herself and not allow anyone to treat her poorly. She does a pretty good job, I am very proud of the way she has dealt with all of this-very mature! They're going to have the 'puberty' talk in school soon and even though we've discussed most of it already, it will be good for us to sit down together and have a refresher. She's mortified, of course ;)

Ok, I have an evil plan forming in my head. I'm hoping it comes with huges laughs from my mom and step-dad, but I need opinions before I do it....

Preface--All my family = huge UW fans. Purple and Gold all the way.... Me, I'm an outcast because I defected and went to the rival school WSU (and met hubby, major family loyalty to WSU)-- Crimson and grey 4ever!! :P

Sooooo, my mom and stepdad are having a huge UW season kickoff party tomorrow and my mom wanted me to do a cake. I'm planning on doing a replica of the UW football helmet, purple and gold. But..... she didn't specify what kind of cake she wanted, so I'm thinking of doing a red velvet with a grey tinted buttercream, so when my stepdad cuts into it..... SURPRISE!!!!!:lol::lol:

Well, I think I'm phunny! :P

psawyer Proficient

My Vancouver or yours ;)

I was thinking of Vancouver, BC, where they have what they call "liquid sunshine" on the majority of days outside of summer. This is from being right on the coast. Your Vancouver is a ways inland.

Today is bright and sunny. B)

Reminds me of the movie Steel Magnolias...the groom's cake is a giant armadillo with grey icing. They comment on how gross grey icing is.

I'm sooooo gonna do it!

Yup.....our annual sex-ed discussion is coming up, too. Time to refresh my memory on some signs I don't normally use on a typical day

Must be prepared for anything. The older they get, the more graphic the questions

Had me phirst day of Zumba yesterday!!!!!!! Soooo much fun! :D Time to get back into shape and lose the pounds I gained since the accident. ;)

celiac-mommy Collaborator

I heard Zumba is so much fun! Would like to try it sometime. Maybe they have it on my cable On Demand?!

Will preface this with: no humans or other living beings harmed. J was coming home from football practice tonight ( game was last night). He was in a line of cars full of fb players going home. A car that had nothing to do with fb, had the gall to stop to make a left turn into a gated road. They use a garage door opener thingy to open the gate. The kid in front of J slammed on the brakes. J slammed on the brakes. Kid behind him didn't stop in time. Wish I had taken a pic of his Toyota. It's totaled at about 20 mph. J's old ford truck has slight bumper damage. It adds character to his beater truck. The police officer seemed to see the humor in it. I asked the kid that hit J if he learned anything from this. He said," not to follow so close". I said, " actually I was thinking that now you know what to do if you have another wreck."

This happened 1 block from our house so they called me. I asked did I need to bring duct tape or string to tie anything up on either car. J - no my cars fine. Friends car doesn't have anything dragging. I get there & all the fluids are leaking, the whole front end is crumpled up to the windshield ( friends car). But nothing was dragging! :)

My friend is a fitness instructor & she's just done the Zumba workshop. It's starting at my gym next month.

Stegosaurus, One size doesn't fit all. Most celiacs do fine with oats and other non-gluten cereal grains. Grains can contribute important nutrients to the diet and are a relatively inexpensive food energy sources. I don't agree with the position that all celiacs should eliminate all grains from their diet. This line of thinking has been promoted for years by books like Dangerous Grains which make the case on logic rather than actual real world data. Like many biological phenomenon, what would seem to be logical doesn't pan out to be true in the real world.  But if you are one of those in the minority of celiacs who cannot tolerate cereal grains at all, I'm glad that you were able to sort that out.

While it's true that lifting heavy weights is a good bone builder, it may not be advisable for those with certain medical conditions like heart disease, arthritis and for the elderly or for those who don't have access to the equipment.  Bone building drugs like Fosamax slow down the disposal of worn out osteoclasts (bone cells) and so help maintain/restore bone density as seen in scans but because the retained cells are no longer healthy, the process may contribute less to actual bone strength than healthy cells would.
