Morning, Amanda et al!!

yes, I agree...this week has crept along......

I bumped into this article on North America's earliest humans, pre-dating Clovis by 1000 yrs. Open Original Shared Link

This cracked me up:

"To make sure the Oregon cave material hadn't been contaminated with modern DNA, the researchers tested more than 50 people who worked at the site. The DNA testing indicated that the feces belonged to Native Americans in two groups that can be traced to Siberia and East Asia."

"Awright!!! Which archeologist crapped in the cave?? Earl?? AGAIN???"

I read this article in our paper this morning...:lol:

'T'would indeed be interesting to meet the individuals who would knowingly (or not knowingly) compromise these findings by pooping within their work site. Mygawd....that would be like me pooping in the Embassy boardrooms.... :o:lol:

Busted. I actually DO sing in public, randomly, just outbursts here and there. Ask Kissey.

Susie....it is actually fortunate that we are not great friends within close geographic distance of one another, for I do this as well. Imagine the two of us, bursting into song together whilst out doing errands?:lol:

......AND!!....can you believe we all got Patti'd?!?!?!?

....I am SHOCKED at the sheer subterfuge...(you gotta watch that Patti )

:lol::lol:

Our new verb...To Patti.....

Yes, I agree...must watch our Patti....still waters can run awfully deep..... ;)

Hey Jess, little favor to ask . .. .short article and I can't tell if it might again be total bs.

Seems to claim leaky-gut can CAUSE depression. I can see correlation but for causality I'd have to know what all those words MEAN!!

I don't know where Scott finds these people to write articles. In the first paragraph the guy misleads you. I didn't read the whole original article, just the abstract, but in it the authors clearly state "It is suggested that the increased LPS translocation may mount an immune response and thus IRS activation in some patients with MDD and may induce specific "sickness behaviour" symptoms."

so IF you already have major depression, a leaky gut may lead to an inflammatory response (I would bet that it does) and could make you feel worse.

I know I'm lot less happy when I feel sick. I don't know why that wouldn't be true for everyone.

Now that sounds like my kind of alarm clock....30 MIN SNOOZE!!!....perfect!!

Every alarm clock I have ever owned has had a 9 min snooze <_< .....why 9 mins???

Actually, my alarm clock is 9 minutes, too. I just hit it about 3 times. ;) I have pondered the 9-minute question as well, and have decided it's because it takes an average of 1 minute for that heinous alarm sound to invade a person's sleep. So, combine the 1 minute, plus 9 minutes of snoozing, and there's about 10 minutes between alarms. That's my theory. :P

Welp, it's rainy and chilly here (again) so what am I watching? HAD to pop in The Goonies DVD.

YAY, Amanda and I are MySpace Friends!! Who else has a page??

Patti---take a few breaths and picture the beach and pretend you are there....that should help you relax a bit.

Have a good weekend, I hear the weather will improve for Saturday and Sunday. :)

Ah, but would poop pics strike you the same way, Sarah? I turned the page of our paper just now and saw the remainder of the article on this prehistoric find, and there is a colour pic of the poop. Looks just like modern poop. Some things never change, I guess...

Hmmm. Yes, why nine minutes? Perhaps it's metric time, er sumfin'...... <_<

https://www.celiac.com/articles/21547/1/The...tion/Page1.html

I had to look up "sickness behavior"

People are studying the interaction of inflammatory cytokines and neural-controlled behaviors. (yes, they're studying why you get grumpy when your sick.)

There's a great review written by some guy who made continual use of his "thesaurus of big words" that says:

"Last but not the least, the activation of this system is certainly responsible for the increased prevalence of mood disorders that is observed in patients suffering from chronic inflammatory disorders including autoimmune diseases, coronary heart disease, and asthma"

So other people have found a statistical connection between chronic illness and increased prevalence of mood disorders. What does this mean? Nothing concrete. It could mean the the genes involved in mood disorders tend to be the same ones involved in chronic illness. It could mean that chronic illness can induce mood disorders in people that have genetic predisposition to mood disorders. It could mean that being sick all the time makes you feel really crappy. It probably does mean that in people that have a mood disorder, having a chronic inflammatory disease could make their mood disorder worse/more difficult to cope with.

I'm more likely to go with this last statement. All of us that had some neuro- mood type effects with gluten, had them go away/diminish with the removal of gluten. But it's also true that some people have no neuro- mood reactions to gluten, so it can't be the only part of the equation.

. .. and you know.....he really should write a small summary on the first page of this thread - -saying - - "just jump to page 200 to see what it's REALLY about" ha ha  wackl

Personally, I've always thought it really got goin' at page ONE hundred <_<;):D:rolleyes:

I am in total agreement with our past King, here....mainly because I went back and checked on all of the new top-of-the-pagers. I STILL have no coronation to claim!<_<

I've been feeling somewhat....odd today, and a little last night. It's made my life timeline go off the rails....Cannot remember what day it is...feels much later in the day than it is....don't quite know who this man is that I'm living with....must PM Scott and inform him of how his minor administrative moves remain quite far-reaching....

Thank you so much for your replies. Luckily the rash went away when I completely swore off gluten. It took several months but I have not had a flare in months. So a biopsy is no longer possible. The itch was terrible and apart from bleaching my skin the steroid lotions and potions did nothing. The Gliadin is for accidents and shall be a part of my travel kit from now on. This past exposure has made a me a little leery about eating anything that was not cooked in my kitchen or a dedicated gluten-free restaurant. As much as I used to love baked goods, I am cured and have become quite the gluten free baker to the point that friends and family forget that my cakes/cookies/and bread are not "real". I guess I will have to wait for the new blood test to come out to get confirmation but I have a suspicion that the rash was dermatitis herpetiformis.

Hello, I just wanted to share with the frustration of skin issues and seeing dermatologist and medications not working for years, I did my own healing experiment. As of last week I have been taking a drop internally under the tongue of Vetiver and putting on topically on sores Yellow/Pom.I am seeing a extreme difference at a rapid time.Im also noticing my nails a little harder. Ive always been into natural properties because I feel its safer for the body.I know short time, but really seeing a difference. I also feel the the trapped gases that causes bloating helps break down as well.Curious if any body else can benefit from and has tried. Products is made by Doterra by Dr Hill

We have a category of articles on this topic if you really want to dive into it: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/miscellaneous-information-on-celiac-disease/gluten-free-diet-celiac-disease-amp-codex-alimentarius-wheat-starch/

I agree with @trents, and the rash you described, especially its location and resistance to steroids, sounds highly characteristic of dermatitis herpetiformis, which is the skin manifestation of celiac disease. The severe and prolonged reaction you're describing five days after a small exposure is, while extreme, not unheard of for those with a high sensitivity; the systemic inflammatory response can absolutely last for several days or even weeks, explaining why you still don't feel right. Your plan to avoid a formal gluten challenge is completely understandable given the severity of your reactions, and many choose the same path for their well-being. While experiences with GliadinX (they are a sponsor here) are mixed, some people do report a reduction in the severity of their symptoms when taken with accidental gluten, though it is crucial to remember it is not a cure or a license to eat gluten and its effectiveness can vary from person to person. For now, the absolute best advice is to continue being hyper-vigilant about cross-contamination—buffets are notoriously high-risk, even with good intentions. Connecting with a gastroenterologist and a dermatologist who specialize in celiac disease is essential for navigating diagnosis and management moving forward. Wishing you a swift recovery from this last exposure. If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:
    • Scott Adams
So just to be cautious, there is a big difference between cured, and responding to their medication. I assume you mean that your daughter responded well while taking KAN-101 during the trial, but the drug would not cure celiac disease, but may manage it while you are taking it. Let me know if I got this right.
