Thanks for the condolences everyone.

At least all his kids are grown, I guess.

Have just watched a show on PBS about famous sandwiches in the US..........Philly cheesesteak, roast beef (French dip - I could DIE for one, thin-sliced beef on a soft roll, dipped in au jus :( ),

I think I've seen that one! French Dip segment is at the place that invented it? (Or so they say <_< )

In L.A., on a corner I think. Wasn't the place called Frenchy's er sumfin?

<I was disappointed to learn a French Dip had no real ties to France>

I'm halfway to the nearby Farmers' Market.

Figured doing something is better than not.

Ken's memorial is Monday, but I might just go stop by his house today. I'd gotten to know a couple of the kids pretty well & his wife somewhat.

No more dominatrix avatar? LOL....it was an eye-catcher though. I need a nap, we ordered in lunch today and it is so rainy out....all I want is to lie down...think anyone would notice if I climbed under my desk???

Oh....your chow has a black tongue, doesn't she? I haven't had many conversations with Mr. Chow, but I'm fairly certain his tongue is pink. So we can differenciate that way....

:huh::lol:

 Makes me want to call your neighboUr P.T. Chow ( Pink Tongue)

....and the guy turned around and he was not my friend......I felt 2 inches tall!

D'oh!!

Tom, new av for you (and anyone else quitting)

:)

Expected to at least get red bell peppers at the Farmers Mkt but there are NONE!!

No shortage of gluteny treats, breads, naan, knishes etc etc however.

Hehe another Seinfeldian moment.

Remember when George slept under the desk so much he had a carpenter install shelves and a spot for an alarm clock?

Steinbrenner thought it was a bomb.

 I saw Mr. Chow about an hour ago, as I was out with the dogs. A meeting between the two of us on the street is quite rare...almost like it was meant to happen, because as we chatted I stared fixedly at his mouth, squinting and trying to peer in to see his tongue. Eventually I realized that he had stopped talking, and was staring back at me, his brow furrowed, his mouth a little open. I needed to explain, so I told him that I wanted to be sure that he had a pink tongue. Then I pulled the dogs and continued down the street.:rolleyes:

So, it is indeed P.T. Chow!

There's no fear of confusing him with this guy:

This is probably a good idea, Ptaoughmnm, if you feel it your heart. You should see them. :)

Hey all!! Remember my backed up kitchen sink? Yeah.....much bigger problem than I thought. :o I tried to unclog it myself.....always been able to before. (Didn't want to have to tell hubby I put too much down the disposal....again  ) In my defense, it's been awhile since the last time. So.. had to tell DH and he worked on it last night----had to use a balloon thingy on the end of the hose....ended up drenching the kitchen. :o He gave up and took off work today to fix it. He was asleep when I got home....pipes are back together...I think I'll let him sleep -_- Shhhhh.

Howdy Ho- Sillies!!!!!!!!! Sigh.....feeling poopy today.

Tom- I am SO sorry about your friend....he sounded like a wonderful person! You will be in my thoughts.

Bev, yes you must get your boob rash looked at immediately. I will say, I couldn't believe the number of ticks we ran across during our brief trip. I shall warn my friend K. to be sure and check her boobage area on a regular basis. Good Luck at the Doc's.

Boob successfully examined.....Unfortunately, this office can neither confirm or deny that this was indeed the bite of a pervert tick. However, we can disclose that according to our Defense Department , the antibiotic biological warfare will indeed cover any rogue bacteria!

(Why doesn't this make me feel any better?)

Tom, new av for you (and anyone else quitting)

I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!

OMGAWD- I want THAT one!!!!!! It's a cute little border collie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need a joke....got nuttin funny today...but someone else did:

LeeSa - yes, we change everybody's names.

The Tom/Ptauoghmn reminds me of my DD's name---Briana. Alot of people don't pronounce it right. Someone else gave their daughter the same name but solved the pronunciation problem by spelling it---B-R-E-A-U-G-H-N-N-A

One Question IQ Test

Here's a one-question IQ Test to help you decide how you should

spend the rest of your day......

There is a mute who wants to buy a toothbrush.

By imitating the action of brushing one's teeth, he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.

Now, if there is a blind man who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses,

how should he express himself?

answer to follow

hmm, I see I'm approaching a big post number. D'ya suppose it's possible to circumvent the disaster? If I, say, prophetically snake my kitchen sink, I won't get fluids?

Omg.....just got rid of the last of the guests..very fan-fu*@kin'-tastic dinner tonight - - a barbeque on our big back deck with my mom, dad, sister and brother-in-law. They all loved Elsie, and after we all solved the problem of glue sticking to the inside of the bottle and whether or not you can cry underwater, we all decided that, based on emminent behavior, Elsie was likely verbally and physically abused.

I know in her last home she was crated all night and through the day when no one was there (in other words, almost all the time), and she absolutely CRINGES at any raised voice....she will suddenly shake and look very frightened. I am SO sad when I see this, I cannot tell you. She has put on a bit of weight, but she was SO SKINNY. How can people do this...it turns my stomach. This is a work in progress - - my little sick girl, who we shall make better. :)

So.. had to tell DH and he worked on it last night----had to use a balloon thingy on the end of the hose....

Lisa!! That's a ballcock!!!! BALLCOCK SIGHTING!! BALLCOCK SIGHTING!! :o:lol:

Jess!! Pull out yer whip, put on the dominatrix outfit, and you can perhaps circumvent ANY sudden happenstance....

Um... methinks you can snake just about anything in that personna, yes?:o

We got Zeus from an animal shelter. He cringes, cowers, shakes and pants whenever DH watches football ( can't handle the yelling) Doesn't matter how much DH loves on him during the game. He's petrified as soon as he hears the pre-game announcers. :(

Emily - so glad you are taking such good care of Elsie, she must be in heaven.............love, food, freedom, water......I can't even THINK about those heinous cretins who had her before

My sweet boys brought me another small dead thing. I guess I wasn't sufficiently appreciative of the last one, because this one they brought into my bedroom <_<

Thank you Scott - I can’t think of much that’s changed diet wise but I’ll definitely try to see if any of this works and probiotics are a great idea thank you!

Hello there @maylynn  I'm a slow healer from the UK.  I sympathise.  Despite three endoscopies which showed nothing wrong, I frequently suffered from a very sore stomach, bloating, feeling queasy.   For some time I was taking the wrong iron supplement (Floradix instead of Floravital - the former has gluten in it, but the latter none).  But I would say even very little iron from an approved source made my stomach sore, I think it can be quite irritating. Perhaps that is an issue for you? Oats (the gluten-free pure ones) were an issue for many years (now fine).   Even though my endoscopy findings did not reflect any problems with healing, or any other issues, I self-diagnosed myself with gastritis as it seemed the feeling of nausea and in my case burning in the stomach pointed to it.  I went onto a gastritis/reflux diet and that really helped.   Have a google - there are tonnes online.  That meant avoiding spicy, greasy food, onions, tomatoes, coffee and alcohol.  (Actually, I don't drink, but I did toast someone during that time at a baptism and it set my stomach on fire.)   Instead of drinking strong coffee, I drank water, camomile tea, warm ginger water... so soothing.  I would not go to bed with a full stomach when things were bad, I would let my stomach rest from say 8pm to 8am, which really helped.   My husband and I then decided to buy a new oven and to buy a new dishwasher - we did need new ones anyway.  The new oven had two compartments, gluten goes in one, gluten free in the other.  The new dishwasher was a Miele which does a full rinse with clean water before washing the dishes.  But before I could afford a new dishwasher I would hand wash the dishes and make sure they were really rinsed well, no residue  (unlike our old dishwasher that was really not rinsing well at all). I stopped eating out for quite a few years - I think this is a biggy - although I would have coffee and soft drinks out. Eventually, my levels normalised.  What of the above was the 'silver bullet'?  I am not sure, but finally I did feel a lot better.  Occasionally I will take an over the counter PPI (omeprazole) or a small dose of Gaviscon, but most of the time I don't need them now. I'm not expecting anyone to go to all these lengths, but it could be that one or two of the tips I give you might work.  Don't give up hope! Cristiana
    • RMJ
Yes, it would make sense to go mostly gluten free, since it gives your troubles.
    • SMK7
Yes, I made an effort to eat extra gluten at least 3 weeks before the endoscopy. I probably ate a some amount in the weeks before that. I had diarrhea, which resolved once I cut back after the endoscopy. So I think it would make sense to go mostly gluten free?
    • RMJ
Yay for the normal biopsy! Thanks for the follow up. Were you eating gluten prior to the endoscopy?
