No, don't worry, it isn't you. It is Emily who reportedly scares new people away.

Once you get to know her, Emily is, well, almost normal (for a silly).:wub:

I'm a tired old guy, so I'm off to bed for the night. Carry on, sillies (if anyone is still awake).

Busy busy day here . . . and I didn't even take another stab at the mountain of mulch, but I'm happy to report that my last Market Day Sale (PTO fundraiser of which I am the chairman) has been completed. Suppose to rain tomorrow so probably no mulching then either . . . darn it . . .

Morning sillies!!

I have the most disgusting HUGE blister on the sole of my foot after yesterdays marathon walk.

I shall just have to lay inert on the couch ALL day ;)

Morning sillies.....Welcome to Friday and a 3-day weekend!!!!! How fun!!!

Does anyone have any big memorial day plans? We are just going to catch ArtsFest and John's family picnic (blah!)

Last night I was out purchasing a new lap top, mine has died....and I only bought a year ago....and John didn't get the warranty since he says they were a waste. It was an HP and I had always sworn by HP, I always had great luck...when I started having problems and I went to research them I found page after page of people with the same problems. HP was not helping either... so I started looking for a new computer and I got a Dell lap top.

I pick it up later today....exciting!

Morning, Sillies!

Looking forward to a moderate, interval-type jog/speed-walk this am wif me dogs. Elisie's legs appear a little stronger, but they're still like sticks...could take some time to build up the muscle mass. Yesterday I looked out the back window where the two of them were running around, and Gus is standing there panting, eyes half-closed, and Elsie is dodging around him, nipping at his bum and chest. Then she manages to get his collar between her teeth (accidentally, I'm sure), plants her front feet and starts tudding madly..."C'mon, c'mon, new friend! Don't just stand there! Life is beautiful! Please run by my side with reckless abandon!!" Gus now notices me in the window, and stares, a combination of this  and this <_< .

Well, Elsie did give up, and just stood there chewing on his collar.

King Peter, I am very happy that you chose red for me name...it is the universal coloUr for caution, danger....stopping.....insanity...

Nikki! Ewwwwwwwww....

Ya need to pop it.

Speaking of marathon-type matters, I am running with my kids (think it'll be more walking wif them) in the Ottawa Race Weekend tomorrow night....think we're just in a 5K.

Hmmmmm....speaking of blisters...... <_<

 I can just picture this! How did your dad do yesterday? All good, I hope :)

Mornin' Sillies....nothin much to report. Gearing up for yet ANOTHER weekend of painting. The casein'ing is winding it's way down--just a lingering headache <_<

On the sunny side (hee hee), it's supposed to be a delightful weekend here--sunny, warmer, and no rain! B) We may see the new Indiana Jones movie :)

Nikki--heinous blister

Phataughm--we saw footage of the wildfires in SC on the news....wow

Amanda--I have a Dell laptop....of course it's on vacation right now  --but I've been very happy with it. Glad to hear you're picking yours up today! :D

We MAY be in the area for the Psillies Psummit, but we'll see. If DW can get the time off of work then maybe.

DELL may make some of the best computers IMHO. We have a desktop AND a laptop from them, and they both work VERY well and we've had no problems with either.

I had my DD at the dentist for the first time yesterday, and I was amazed and proud that she did not even cry of fuss AT ALL! She is such a good girl. Even the Dentist was psurprised (did I get it?) She was asking this morning if she had to go back today to make sure her teeth stayed shiny. LOL

Well, off to walk the dog and get some more domestic type work done.

All right...DELL makes fine computers...who makes fine digital cameras? I have only bought one, an inexpensive HP about six years ago, and it has died. So, I'm in the market for a new one. I want great picture quality, and a lithium battery. Anybody got any recommedations? (Note that I have not started a separate thread on this, as we Sillies know absolutely everything, and there's never any need)..... ;):)

We have a Sony and a Pentax--the Sony is easier to use so we almost never even use the Pentax. Don't know what kind of battery it uses, though

Picture quality is great, though, IMHO. :)

We have a SONY as well. It is very user friendly and takes great pictures. We took it on holidays, and have pictures we will cherish for a long time.

As far as that goes, we DO spell like Brits up here, with a small amount of French spellings thrown in. It can get VERY confusing sometimes. :)

Did you know that Dole  processes their dates in a facility that processes wheat?

I sure didn't since I've been snacking on them for the last week.

Now I wonder if it was the casein in the creamer that's been making me sick  I can't believe I'm still playing the "what made me sick" game after all this time

I suspected them because I stopped using the creamer and was struck with D again this morning :( --and I called them.

For the love of Pete! (sorry PeOter--not you ;) )

I took my dad to his proceedure this afternoon, and during the car ride I told him about my superb idea of taking both him and Elsie to the vet's, as he could likely get the tests done there in as timely a manner, and I'd only be hitting one place. He thought that this would be a very novel approach to health care. "But", he said, "let's take it a step further, and REALLY multi-task. While you got Elsie's microchip, they could have shot one into my neck as well, and into those of any other senior headed for dementia. I don't know who I am, I go wandering the streets one night - - that chip will tell my tale".

Emily-   your dad is THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a great idea

Well...I have always considered popping them the correct approach, but it seems we're both right, Nikki:

Decide whether to prick or not to prick. Once you have a blister, you have to decide what's best to do with it. That is, should you protect it and leave it alone, or should you prick it and drain the fluid?

"I think it depends on the size of the blister," says Suzanne Tanner, M.D., a private practitioner in Denver, Colorado, who specializes in sports medicine. "A purist will probably tell you not to prick it, because then you don't run any risk of infection. But I think for most people that's just not very practical."

While purists do indeed exist, our experts say you should prick large blisters that are painful, while leaving intact smaller blisters that cause no discomfort. "When you have a big blister that's in a weightbearing area, you almost have to drain it," says Clare Starrett, D.P.M., a professor at the Foot and Ankle Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine. "They can get so full they get like a balloon."

Also, blisters that are likely to break on their own should be drained by you, our experts say. That way, you can control when and how the blister is opened, instead of leaving it to chance.

I'd say pop it!

Craisins are by Ocean Spray....still wouldn't put it past 'em to make them right along with wheat somephin or other <_<

The Dole guy also said that the parfait that has caramel apple (?) contains barley--so I just thought I'd pass that along.

Ah well, ya live and learn :D

Lordy, I'm tired! Been cleaning most of the day. A friend dropped by with her daughters. Her older daughter is 3 1/2, and Oh... mah... gah... She and Ezra have been in love since she was born, I swear. The cuteness that occurs when they're together is indescribable!

Speaking of Ezra... he had the off of school, and we ran into a convenience store after dropping Luke off at school. I told him he could pick out a small piece of candy, and he chose this tiny little spray bottle of liquid candy (sugar.) After breakfast, I let him open it, and while we're trying to figure out how it works-- he sprayed liquid candy right into my left eye. Omg, it burned! Actually it still burns a little. <_<

Hopefully, that'll be the only injury of the day.

Got a busy weekend going... Tonight, Luke's class is putting on a song and dance routine at the PTO fundraiser festival. Tomorrow he has a b-day party to go to, and Sunday Ezra has a b-day party to go to. Wish me luck!

Canker sores can definitely be frustrating, especially when you're already managing a strict gluten-free lifestyle and have been diagnosed with celiac disease for so long. While these painful mouth ulcers aren’t exclusive to celiac disease, they can be linked to nutritional deficiencies—particularly of iron, folate, or vitamin B12 (as @trents mentioned )—which are common in people with celiac, even those who are very careful with their diet. Ongoing fatigue and aches might also suggest that your body isn’t fully absorbing nutrients or that there’s some underlying inflammation. It could be helpful to get bloodwork done to check for these deficiencies, and possibly even a full...

@Dora77, You shouldn't worry about getting glutened through your skin.  You would have to touch a gluten infested doorknob and then put your hand in your mouth.   I'd be more concerned with your mom's heating up gluten bread in the oven and boiling gluten noodles.  These methods cause particles of gluten to become airborne which would then enter your nose and be swallowed, going into your digestive tract.  I have to avoid the bakery aisle at the grocery store for this reason.  An M95 mask helps. If you get nutritional deficiencies corrected, your immune system will calm down and be less reactive to gluten expose.  Vitamin D helps regulate the immune system.  Thiamine and Niacin...
    • Jacki Espo
I do not have evidence other than anecdotal but I am certain when I have gotten these it's the result of eating gluten (back when I did).  I don't get them now that I don't eat gluten.
    • Dora77
What really bothers me is if worrying about getting cc‘d from touching the same door knob as others touched is valid. Seems like an extremely unlikely way to get glutened but i read people saying that.    If thats true then theres realistically zero chance i dont get cc‘d in a non gluten-free household unless i Cook Everything myself and wash my hands multiple times in between and store all of my stuff separately

Welcome to the forum, @Mrs. Cedrone! Among the various causes for canker sores, are "Nutritional problems like too little vitamin B12, zinc, folic acid, or iron" https://www.webmd.com/oral-health/canker-sores Could you be deficient on something?
