My yard is full of dead things in various stages of decay. Also plenty of pup poop from the neighbour's dog.

Note to self: If ever invited to Jess's place, refrain from stepping into her back yard.. ......

OK.....WTH is a jumper?......cuz around here, it's a sleeveless dress with no waistline that requires a shirt...usually turtleneck...to be worn underneath it.

BTW.....I happen to like sweaters!.

 Lisa, I take it you haven't seen Bridget Jones's Diary? Very educational :D

Jumpers are what Brits call sweaters :)

:vomitvomitvomitvomitvomitvomitface:

All in all, a disgusting gardening experience. Must be more careful and more watchful of dead rodents and nutty, soft, poo.

I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.....

GROSS!!!!!!

Must think happy pleasant thoughts! HAPPY PLEASANT THOUGHTS!!!!!

Didn't mean to leave you hanging!!

I'm just not sure if it's a done deal and didn't want to get everyone's hopes up until I knew more.......it's a blonde cocker spaniel, male, almost 4 yrs old. Friend's of a friend can't keep it anymore because one of their teenagers has asthma and has become allergic to him, so they are looking for a good home to take him in.

Didn't exactly want another cocker (I lost my cocker 2 yrs ago) they can sometimes be feisty and I have 3 little nieces, but it needs to be rescued so we will see if it will be a good fit.

I have been thinking a lot lately about getting another dog, haven't really been ready until now, and then this came up.....maybe it is meant to be!

I'll be watching Patti :D . Someone else is joining the cast too but I can't recall.........is it Lucy Lui??

jerseyangel Proficient

Julie,

It kinda does sound like you and this little dog were meant to be :D I hope it works out and the two of you are a good fit together.

Yep--Lucy Lu....

Good morning, Sillies!

A doggy treadmill .. . . .I have oft thought of such a thing, especially when living through our winters and now having TWO big dogs that need daily exercise. How great that would be to line them up on a treadmill, hit "start', and come back in a half-hour. . . . . ..

I'd have to hang a li'l stuffed squirrel off the front of the machine.. . .

....but at least I wouldn't have to keep flipping the toaster up again and again. . . ...

Yeah Nikki . . . we don't have room for horses jumpers. We have a spare bedroom and all . . . but I'm pretty sure it's against the Home Owners Association rules.

Sillies- I do not think it is pink eye- I woke up with a clear eye- completely. I took a shower and then had to run to the eye dr to drop something off. Even the woman there said it didnt look like pink eye. I get home and it was starting to get a little itchy and now its red and irritated again. Fine till I got in the shower and thats when I had trouble last time.....Its an allergy to something, but nothing has changed in my shower--no new soaps or detergants nothing. I still have not put a contact into that eye but what to do next?

jerseyangel Proficient

Amanda--maybe an "outdoor" allergy? They're pretty bad this year--people who aren't normally bothered by them are having problems. Both Mark and I have had itchy eyes the last couple of weeks. Have you rubbed your eye more than normal? Been outside in the wind?

One of my eyes is much more itchy than the other (the one with the eczema) so it may not affect both eyes equally. Just thinkin.

Green12 Enthusiast

Thanks y'all, I'm excited too :D:D

I will keep you posted!

Gag-inducing gardening  Dead rats, maggots......I would be haunted by the experience :shiver: Um, Susie WHY are the rats dead??

Quite impressive squirrels you have there Nikki

You know now that I think about it I haven't seen many squirrels here where I live, lots and lots of birds, and groundhogs, a few fox, but NO squirrels  I also live in a gated community so maybe there is something to that.......the squirrels can't figure out the code to get in!!

Amanda, that's crazy about your eye. Definitely doesn't sound like pink eye if you woke up with it completely normal. Must be some type of allergy

 indeed - well, I had to scrutinize and inspect the dead rat, could not see any injuries or wounds (Annie does pounce on things in her sport back there), so I think it ate some of Stepford's poison. Just very happy Annie doesn't even dead things......

or does she? I never saw the decomposing dead rat there, and that's a bed I phrequently weed.......

those pets on treadmills. Weez might enjoy that. Tika would have had a nervous breakdown.

Hi Sillies- I made an appt with MY dr for 12:45. My eye is almost clear again- just a slight redness. Patti it does itch now and then but not like the got itch, itch, itch deal. It has to be an alergy or maybe a cold in my eye or something but it sure isnt pink eye---I know it in my heart it isnt pink eye....you know how deep down you have that feeling....well I have that feeling....

I am awaiting a maint. man to come fix our dishwasher....it is giving off a nasty odor....eww!

Emily, you need this:

OMG. . .. there actually IS a treadmill specifically for dogs. So indicative of the state of our society - - Cannot manage to take your dog out for a bit of walking exercise? No problem! Stay inert and inside. .. . we can sell you a machine that will do it all for you! <_<

Loved the dog and cat together on the treadmill. .. . .what a beautiful Maine Coone. I WANT ONE!

(Annie does pounce on things in her sport back there), so I think it ate some of Stepford's poison. Just very happy Annie doesn't even dead things......

@DebJ14, You said "husband has low platelets, bruises easily and gets bloody noses just from Fish Oil  He suggested he take Black Cumin Seed Oil for inflammation.  He discovered that by taking the Black Seed oil, he can eat carbs and not go into A Fib, since it does such a good job of reducing inflammation."   I don't think black seed oil is lowering inflammation.  It's lowering blood glucose levels. Black cumin seed lowers blood glucose levels.  There's a connection between high blood glucose levels and Afib.    Has your husband been checked for diabetes?   Must Read: Associations of high-normal blood pressure and impaired fasting glucose with atrial fibrillation https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36750354/

Healthy Omega Three fats.  Olive oil or flaxseed oil, oily fish, fatty cuts of meat.   Our bodies run much better on burning fats as fuel.  Diets based on carbohydrates require an increased amount of thiamine to process the carbs into fuel for the body.  Unfortunately, thiamine mononitrate is used to enrich rice.  Thiamine mononitrate is relatively unusable in the body.  So a high carb diet can further decrease thiamine stores in the body.  Insufficient thiamine in the body causes the body to burn body fat and muscle for fuel, so weight loss and muscle wasting occurs.  Those extra carbohydrates can lead to Candida (often confused with mold toxicity) and SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth).   Losing weight quickly is a symptom of thiamine insufficiency.  Muscle wasting is a symptom of thiamine insufficiency.  I lost sixty pounds in a month.   Having difficulty putting weight on and keeping it on is a symptom of thiamine insufficiency.   The AIP diet works because it eliminates all grains and grasses, rice, quinoa, all the carbs.  Without the carbs, the Candida and SIBO get starved and die off.  Easy way to change your microbiome is to change what you feed it.  With the rowdy neighbors gone, the intestine can heal and absorb more nutrients.   Supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals is beneficial.  Talk to your doctor and nutritionist.  Benfotiamine is a form of thiamine that promotes intestinal healing.  The eight B vitamins are water soluble, so if you don't need them, they can be gotten rid of easily.   Night shades are excluded on the AIP diet.  Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant are not allowed on the AIP diet.  They contain alkaloids that promote "a leaky gut".  Benfotiamine can help here. Sweet potatoes are avoided because they contain thiaminases, chemicals that break thiamine so that the body cannot use it.   The AIP diet has helped me.

The reaction one gets when they get glutened varies a lot from person to person.  This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
    • Theresa2407
A gluten ingestion can last for many months.  Many years ago there was a celiac conference in Fl.  Everyone there got contaminated with some having difficulty 6 months to recover.  It will hit your Lympatic system and spread  through the body and effect your nevous system as well. Most times when I get glutened it is from a prescription med that wasn't checked close enough.  the Pharmacuticals change vendors all the time.
    • Hmart
Thank you so much for the responses. Every piece of information helps.  I only knowingly ate gluten once, that was four days ago. I had the reaction about 3-4 hours after consuming it. I’m concerned that after 4 days the symptoms aren’t abating and almost seem worse today than yesterday.  I haven’t had either breath test. I did ask about additional testing but the PA recommended me to a celiac specialist. Unfortunately the first available is mid-December.  As far as diet, I am a pescatarian (have been for 25+ years) and I stopped eating dairy mid-last week as my stomach discomfort continued. Right now, I’m having trouble eating anything. Have mostly been focused on bananas, grapes, nut butters, DF yogurt, eggs, veggie broth.   I ordered some gluten-free meal replacements to help.  But I’ll get all the items (thank goodness for Instacart) and try the diet you recommended to get me past this period of feeling completely awful.  Yes, my doctor diagnosed celiac. I was concerned it wasn’t right based on the negative blood test and my continued symptoms.  Even if you are ‘glutened’ it shouldn’t last forever, right? Is four days too long?
