I thought that was Andrea's daughter behind the horse!

You're sweet to say so, but really--I'd like to know Celia's secret! Come on Celia, spill it

I admit, my daughter looks a lot like me.....but I don't think I look quite that young. Boy the tazorac cream that Susan is using must really be working for me.:lol:

New topic... :o:lol: what color nail polish do you all wear??

Red, toes only, year around. Is there any other color?

rinne Apprentice

I never wear nail polish, it makes me feel like my fingernails can't breath.

And that is a beautiful photo of you and your grandbaby, you are obviously a fabulous woman. :)

CarlaB Enthusiast
I don't wear nail polish.... :o

EDIT - omg... I thought I was the only girl in the world that doesn't wear polish... woo hooo... thank goodness I'm not alone!

I don't wear it on my nails ... only my toes. I feel the same way about it on my nails ... like they're suffocating!

Ok, so now we have three of us. I used to wear clear a long, long, long time ago.....Once upon a time, in a time far, far away.......about 20-25 years ago. :P

HI Laura J - - yes, totally random.....silly stuff....maybe we'll have a big point to all of it one day.....ha ha ...most likely not ;) (not that we don't discuss serious stuff ever - we do)

Mouse - - the tazorac is prescription, adn I don't know how it will address wrinkles - in my family, the women don't wrinkle much (I still have very oily skin). But dang, did we bake ourselves in teh sun...and long after my friends quit baking in the sun, I was hanging off granite and baking even more. :o I do know that for really deep wrinkles, only laser procedures and/or surgery can help. For fine wrinkles, definitely get Retin A or Renova. We saw a picture of you earlier....I think your wrinkles - laugh lines - were really lovely...you should never lose those! :)

I think I am going to enjoy a glass of wine on this lovely, gray Sunday. So few pleasures....you know, I quit totally for a while, and now can occasionally drink a glass and not want more - no problem. In fact, I don't think about or miss my wine as I used to.

If only the same thing could happen with chocolate and the potato chips.....

edit: - now FOUR of us - except I do ALWAYS have nude color on my toes......

jerseyangel Proficient

Interesting about the nail polish--I only wear it on my toes, too. Right now, it's clear, but I like to try out different colors.

I usually don't wear it on my fingernails--maybe for very special occasions, but normally I don't. I keep them filed and buffed, though. I think they look healthy.

CarlaB Enthusiast

My fingernails grow very long. They just grow so fast that I can hardly keep them short. I usually end up cutting then filing, but ocassionally I'll put some polish on them if we're going out. It does't usually last more than a day or two though. People are generally amazed that they're natural and so long! I just don't think they need polish!

Funny--mine are the same way! My fingernails are about the only part of me that work correctly :D

HI EVERYONE

CELIA,,,SO HAPPY :):):):):):):):):):):):) TO HAVE YOU BACK! WHEW!!!

I can't even relate to all you young 'spring chicken' :(

At 65 I'll have to start a thread about walkers, canes, bath tub hand helpers, eyeglasses and false teeth..and if my teeth don't get better I'll be needing those suckers instead of nail polish and face cream

my toes are almost always a shade of mauve. Even why I buy new colors, they are all in the same family. I don't do well with change :)

(I say this as I am surrounded by boxes because we are moving next weekend!)

I envy you long-nailed women. I bite mine so bad, its embarrassing.

I NEVER WEAR NAIL POLISH!!!! (Most violinists don't--we have to have short nails.)

Someone told me recently that someone she was related to bit their nails so bad they were having all kinds of stomach problems ... ended up being from the nails rotting in her stomach! She had to have surgery! Keep that in mind when you bite them and it will be easy to stop!!! My great-grandmother knew someone who had a ball of nails in her stomach, too. Yuck!

Just trying to help ... ;)

I have a box full of ballet pink/nude polishes - all the same

Where are you moving? different city/state or same town - better place? :)

I have no idea. When she told me, I thought it was so disgusting, but I told my nail-biter son (the same one that's a liar, too, constantly lies, distresses me terribly), but it didn't help.

Wow, Carla, you are my new official mother on the board!!!!!! She used just about every trick in the book to get me to stop as a kid (and obviously, none worked.) Thanks for the 'encouragement", MOM :)

Susan, We have been in Virginia Beach for a year (moved here after I finished graduate school). Didn't have a real "plan"---go figure. Decided this summer we would start looking more long term (had a great job here, just didn't see a lot of growth). A perfect job (a master's level psychology/research position) opened at a defense agency in Northern Virginia. Couldn't resist! Plus, I am a Navy brat, and we had been stationed in DC/VA when I was younger. My parents bought a house there and had kept it and rented it out since the early 80s (the area is BEYOND expensive. BEYOND BEYOND BEYOND. Ugh!) They are wonderful and are renting it to us. It literally all fell into place. I got the job, and start on the 16th. I'm nervous, but excited. Happy cause it's not my first official job (got that one under my belt, woo hoo!) but nervous -and THRILLED - because its more in my field and I have to get my social science hat back on (nervous that I'm rusty).

Probably more than you ever wanted to know, but I'm good for that. :)

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Nope, Laura, really good info....my best friends from Monterey moved to Fredericksburg almost three years ago....I have a free plane ticket any time I'm ready to go. They both work in DC and the husband actually briefs people at the pentagon on military safety and tanks and stuff.....um....not sure what he does as if he told me he'd have to kill me..... Anywho they love it back there....I think you will too.

Am watching Syriana.....I have no idea what is goign on. I have a difficult time wtih SIMPLE plots and this one....well I THINK it's a good movie but just beyond me. Even Ebert and Roper said they were confused in parts but evidently they could comprehend THE WHOLE....I cannot.

Signing off, I think, and gonna start the movie over.....not that that will help. ;)

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding

I think I found a huge culprit for severe reactions to create worsening of my c symptoms. Do people with celiac have sensitivity and /or have opposite reaction to certain medications Where can I find a list ?  I'm new here I'm.wondering why I am getting worse when I take certain medicine...the burning feet.  Rebound muscle pain so intense  How many people get opposite effects or have a horrible attack after these meds

Does anyone know if that includes scrambled eggs and healthy smart butter (,gluten free) I add a very tiny amount of margarine less than a teaspoon.  I did no't have any bread    It just seems like no matter what I eat my stomach and nerves over fire and here comes a host of horrible symptoms. My lower abdomen feels horrible, my right leg thigh muscle.. very odd. Jaw pain. Burning feet , joint pain , you name it  The anxiety just creeps up into brain fog. I don't think I could explain this to anyone who is unfamiliar.  Also,  I most likely will not remember posting this until I check it.  This is highly unusual for me because I have an excellent memory.  One weekend before I knew anything about celiac I lost an entire weekend from severe brain fog, confusion, pain, etc.  I honestly thought I was losing my mind. When I think back I recall eating a lot of PBJ sandwiches and turkey sandwiches.  Once again did not know about gluten.  I was just too sick to cook. Do people fast during attacks ?? It seems horrible to keep going through this. I hope I'm not causing my own problems... I wonder if I should fast because I'm not eating gluten .  Chicken ,  scrambled eggs no milk , canned carrots,  gluten free low sugar low fat Greek yogurt which I already posted about 😞 Any suggestions I am open... I am bedridden when this happens to me.  Thank you Celiac community. 🙏🏻❤️

Yeah, that sounds super familiar. When inflammation levels are high — especially at the start of changing your diet — the body often develops a fructose and lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, the only thing that really helps is cutting out anything that isn’t lactose-free or that contains sugar. So basically, stick to meat, veggies, fish…
