WEll feel free to drop by my potty training thread and give advice then!

Open Original Shared Link

Make them want it, don't do it before they're ready or you'll drive everyone involved crazy .... just give it up and go back to it in a couple months. Give him garbage he likes and won't normally get every time he goes on the pot. If it's #2 that's scaring him, when you can tell he has to go, force him to squat standing on the toilet seat, he will try to stand up, so you have to hold him squatting, he will not be able to hold it in.

Sorry, you can quote this on the potty training page if you'd like, but I'd rather not go there. Too scary. :o

Carla,

The potty training thread isn't that scary. I went over there and came back in one piece. Not that I had much to offer. :)

I don't know what I'd do if my sweetie was gone for a week. :( (Carla and Patti) The kids and I would drive each other even crazier. Talitha gets upset if her daddy isn't home by bedtime and if he happens to have an overnighter somewhere then she's up constantly (making sure I'm up until she goes to sleep).

I'm used to it -- he's done it for 15 years. He travels less since we've moved as Cincinnati is more central to his territory. He used to spend about 10 days per month out of town. This week it was a trade show in Florida, which is not in his territory.

I'm quoting this from another thread just because I wanted to comment on it....

I saw this and wanted to add that vinegar restores the ph balance of your skin... everytime I'm having skin trouble I use it, expecially if I'm burt from the sun... it's amazing stuff. (I use apple cider vinegar) And I have used it my whole life... long family remedy.

Celia,

That must be one of the reasons you still look 20-ish. :)

morning all from a sleepy dingo.....yikes, why am I so stinking TIRED all the time now??? can't stand this....but y'all have given me a great laugh today.....

Did he get his gluteus maximus out of here yet?

Richard's glutes seem to be here frequently....today he's in trouble though, I think.....RICHARD - give your wife a glass of wine and go do something silly and impractical! REFRIGERATORS??? no - - romantic dinner and silly movie!

Thanks :), though I doubt I'll sleep well (stupid insomnia!)

Melannen - hope you're feeling better - - I take DRUGS for insomnia, and probably always will....I had TEN YEARS of um, practically fatal insomnia, won't go through it again!!

Pantyhose--ugh! Can't remember the last time I wore those!

panyhose....ugh......haven't worn them in about a decade, my goal is to never wear them again in my life! (well, if I had a winter funeral, maybe some sheer dark hose - that would be IT) Besides, they don't go well with flip-flops and UGGS

why is it that you turn 40 or 50 and finally have the self confidence you didn't have a younger woman and BOOM! Nature takes it course and you are staring at a middle aged, slightly wrinkled, slightly saggy woman when you look in the mirror. You got it all together finally and BOOM! you're back to square one.....

Deb - profounder words have never been spoken.....except my confidence is fleeting these days....working on that.....

Dingo Girl- You are far too hard on yourself. You are GORGEOUS inside and out!!!!! Don't make me fly out there and whip your butt (unless there's already snow in Tahoe- than I can fly out there, whip your butt, kidnap you and we can go up to Tahoe, ski, drink cocoa, sit in hot tubs and find you a cute man!)

BEV - - you crazy mountain dog!!! oh my gosh, does anything sound better???? what will we do with the DINGOS???? (well my older girl IS a cross-country skier, quite the snow sprite, too bad mommy doesn't have the energy to take them :( ).....

Cosmos and trampolines and cotton candy.....dang livin' on the edge, aren't you Doctor Bev! ;)

I have to say that you had me at *maple sugar cotton candy* :D That sounds soooo good!

Oh maaaan :( First I miss the CBS news piece, and now I find out there were girls on trampolines here last night?!

This is my luck :P

Speaking of luck (all bad) I'm hiding out. So much for the egtaway weekend  The kids have gone to grandmas, but the wife is PMSing (anybody want to throw me some nuggets to help tame the beast?) and not in any mood for anything other than a nap and lots of personal space. On the up side we might go out later and argue about refrigerators to celebrate :(

Full moon... <_<

First of all...you can see the CBW news piece if you go to that thread - I just watched it and am forwarding it to all my peeps....

SECOND of all.....yes I can throw you some NUGGETS....Hersheys, that is....see my advice above :D

Makeup is for clowns. My girlfriend rarely wears any and that is just fine with me.

clowns.....methinks not.....makeup is for slightly perfecting and enhancing what God gave us, while making it look like we don't have any makeup ON - Clown makeup - - no - - we are HOT 40-somethings and all about subtlety, right girls :)

what else...Laura - - happy moving and we'll see you later! We'll be thinking of you, pop in when you get back....

Pixie girl is SO glamorous...shopping in Boston with her french manicure!!! If y'all could see me.....pj bottoms, wife-beater tank top, sweatshirt jacket.... Am wondering if I"ll bother to get dressed today......

I forgot everything else......see you later!

(OOOOOOOOPS - - just got busted for too many emoticons!!!!! now removing - what wasthe trick we learned in Rville about how to get around that - IT IS MAKING ME ERASE ALL THE EMOTICONS - -insert mad face here)

Also might want to test for Hypoglycemia, do you have a home Blood glucose monitor? YOu can get them for about $20 at CVS, if you get the el cheapo store brand one. Comes with 10 test strips, plenty for the test (need 5 or 6 usally). I can teach you how to test your self with that test kit, its easy , medicaly regonized as diagonostic, but takes an over night fast + 4 to 6 hours testing durring the day. MOst of wich is just waiting till the next test, the actuall test takes only a 1 min or so....

DingoGirl Enthusiast

I am quite convinvced I am hypoglycemic, however this seems to have improved as I've gotten older. AS a child, I used to almost black out when hungry - used to start crying and throwing a fit and my mom knew to feed me. Have even had a couple of boyfriends tell me this - - a direct quote from one of them: " I find if we FEED you, things go much better :) " But - I think I'm not eating frequently enough these days. I am not nearly as hungry being gluten-free and can go LONG stretches - 8 or 10 hours  without food - - that is not good! Am eliminating sugar in my diet.....how will I do it....... :o

But there is also heartbreaking frustration in my life presently - and I think that contributes to it.....big old long fat stinkin' story that we simply WON"T talk about in our silly, fun thread...... ;)

okay kids....gotta start being productive today....

but one more thing - - OMG I made the most delicious nut bars - - was trying to make Bumble Bars - - bought bulk sesame seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and dried cranberries - - chopped the almonds...added to the batch a tiny bit of grapeseed oil and a big dollup of brown rice syrup - used hands to mix it all up - spread it about 1/2 inch thick onto a pan - baked for 20 - 30 minutes in slow oven - - OMG I could eat the whole batch!!! really tasty! :)

omg Andrea... don't be pulling up old posts. :o:ph34r: dear gaawwdd woman

One more remark about the way I look and I'm turning into a 3 headed gator...

Wow--I'd really like to see that! :o

So...vinegar is the way to go?

Susan,

Your homemade Bumble Bars sound good! I could see myself eating it by the fistfuls out of the bowl! :D

tried that.... not as good, the sesame seeds need to be baked or taste quite bitter! in my test batch made about six bars - half are gone  tummy's a little tender - LOTS of fiber in these bars!

AndreaB Contributor

Celia is too sweet....she won't turn into a three headed gator.

Susan, your treat sounds good......pm me your story if you want to talk. :)

Patti, always good to see you.

My quiet house should erupt pretty soon, the kids should be home with Daddy shortly (unless they went to church service). They usually just go to Sabbath school. Seth is still sleeping and the house is nice and peaceful. He went right to sleep without the usual noise.

I'm tired all the time too. Actually, I've had two good days in a row!!!!! YAY!!!

If it's not your thyroid, read over the adrenal stuff we've been posting about on other threads. I think it's all inter-related, thyroid, blood sugar, adrenal glands, etc. The diet I've been on has addressed all three.

OMGosh, all this time, I thought you had a thing for gluten-free chicken nuggets!!!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: I remember the Hershey thing from way back, but I've never called them nuggets, I know they ARE nuggets, but ....

DingoGirl Enthusiast

okay everybody....the Fresno Stage Bulldogs are playing today......

BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :angry::lol:

please read post #119 on this page....see the discussion....all prayers are to be AGAINST the Bulldogs - that they will lose today..... ;)

Who are they playing? You mentioned Colorado in the previous post, I hope not for your sake.......because they just might win. (Colorado is not doing well at all so far this season :o )

But you have my support

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Hi Julie!! :) Glad you could make it! colorado was last week, it's Utah this week (funny that I"ve never followed the 'dogs so closely until now  )

I am going to go into the pub where my niece works. Would it be really awful to wear a t-shirt with a bulldog logo with a big black circle and line through it? :o:lol: my lovely symbol could speak for itself.....

CarlaB Enthusiast

Hi Julie, Welcome!!

Boooo Bulldogs!

AndreaB Contributor

Julie,

I'm always a day late and a dollar short......miss you almost all the time.

And I agree with you about Celia........I see you Celia!

Hokey Skatting anything like roller skating?

DingoGirl Enthusiast

hockey OMG - - always looks really dangerous and painful and I have always liked having all my teeth too much to play :P

and guess what, tummy really hurts, I think it's from too many NUTS (and I don't mean you guys)

DingoGirl Enthusiast
I still have all my teeth  YOU are the danger girl... omg... climbing mountains... dear gawwdd you'd have to unclench each hand on each rock to even get me to move... :o

Climbing is so easy you dingbat.....you just need good equipment and a really good belayer......oh and you have to be somewhat in good shape :( which I am not any more......

Guest melannen

Thanks for the feel better comments everyone!

I'm feeling better enough to be able to stomach some rice. My biggest problem today is I'm in a very foul mood (gluten always brings out the b**ch in me). I'm just hoping to be over it by Tuesday night as that's when my knitting group meets and I really don't want to accidentally offend anyone

Melannen - hope you're feeling better - - I take DRUGS for insomnia, and probably always will....I had TEN YEARS of um, practically fatal insomnia, won't go through it again!!

I'm scared of taking medication for it....I come from a long line of people addicted to prescription drugs

BOOOOO BULLDOGS!!! :P

c'mon- sometimes we all feel like nuts! Lord knows I act like one enough.

I'm really tired today too- crashed out for two hours. Uhmm...I'm guessing it was the post-maple sugar cotton candy crash.

Celia- You really are stunning! If you use apple cider vinegar, then I'm all over it. My face has been breaking out like mad lately. It likes Neutogena (the exfoliating one with soy in it0 but I don't want to use it anymore because I don't want ANY soy near me.

I used to use witch hazel but I'm gonna give your vinegar a try!

Susie- This thread doesn't have to be funny all the time. You can tell us your heartbreaking frustrations. Sometimes a girl needs a wee bit more than a fluffy dingo Woman cannot live by dingo alone (pretty close tho).

Sometimes it can take a long time for antibodies to get into the normal range.  My TTG IgA was normal after a year, but just barely and it bounced in and out of normal range for a few years.  It took five years to get the DGP IgA normal. You may want to reevaluate your gluten free diet.  I started by not eating anything with gluten ingredients. All antibodies decreased but DGP IgA still elevated. Then if I ate processed foods I only ate those labeled gluten free.  Still not enough.  Now I only eat processed foods if certified gluten free or labeled gluten free and from a company with a good reputation in the celiac world.   To answer another one of your questions, the incidence of intestinal lymphoma in general is very, very low.  Yes it is increased in those with celiac disease , but even with the increase incidence is still very, very low.
    • knitty kitty
@SMK7, Have you had a genetic test to see if you carry any of the known genes required for Celiac Disease to develop?    If you don't carry any known Celiac genes, then you would have Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity.   Having the celiac disease genes doesn't mean one will definitely develop celiac disease. The genes need repeated exposure to gluten and an environmental trigger to turn on and start the development of celiac disease.   However, NCGS is considered a precursor of Celiac Disease in those with the genetic predisposition.   While antibodies, like DGP IgA and DGP IgG antibodies, may be present, NCGS does not involve tTg IgA antibodies.  The tTg IgA antibodies are a definitive marker for Celiac Disease.  The tTg IgA antibodies are the antibodies that attack and damage structural components in cell membranes.  This damage results in flattened villa in the small intestines, the hallmark of Celiac Disease. The absence of a strong tTg IgA response in young adults and children may be due to an immature immune system.   The antibodies that are present in NCGS do cause inflammation and intestinal permeability.  A constant state of inflammation raises homocysteine levels which lead to cardiovascular and kidney problems.  Intestinal permeability leads to increased food sensitivity, metabolic disorders, other autoimmune diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases.   You would be wise to have a genetic test and go completely gluten free.  If you don't have celiac disease genes and are NCGS, going completely gluten free will lower inflammation and intestinal permeability, thus lowering risk for further health problems.  If you do have celiac disease genes, going completely gluten free now could prevent or postpone celiac disease from developing in future.  celiac disease is triggered by repeated exposure to gluten and and environmental stressor like infection or injury.   Chronic gastritis can lead to nutritional deficiencies including deficiencies in B12, iron, thiamine, and Vitamin D which can result in anemia, osteoporosis and infertility.  Chronic gastritis and its accompanying inflammation can lead to further nutrient malabsorption. You might want to discuss with your doctor and nutritionist the benefits of a genetic test and a completely gluten free diet. Your doctor is most likely correct here, and if you had high tTg-IGA and villous atrophy you likely have celiac disease and need to be gluten-free. If regular small amounts of gluten get in your diet, it will prevent recovery. Eating out in restaurants is the primary source of such contamination.
    • Scott Adams
Mostly trial and error and noticing the effects of the supplements over time. It's important to look at the bottom of my original post in this thread to see nutrients that can be toxic in higher does, especially over long periods of time.
    • Scott Adams
As @trents mentioned, removing gluten if you have celiac disease would be key to villi recovery, and if you still are having issues trying to identify other triggers would be the next step, even though the additional intolerances will not likely contribute to villi recovery. This study indicates that a majority of celiacs don't recover until 5 years after diagnosis and starting a gluten-free diet: Mucosal recovery and mortality in adults with celiac disease after treatment with a gluten-free diet However, it's also possible that what the study really shows is the difficulty in maintaining a 100% gluten-free diet. I suspect that if you looked closely at the diets of those who did not recover within 2 years might be that their diets were not 100% gluten-free. Perhaps they ate out more often, or didn't understand all of the hidden ingredients where gluten can hide. Either way, it shows how difficult recovery from celiac disease can be for most people. According to this study: This article explores other causes of flattened villi:
