How Quickly Do You Feel Your Symptoms?

We were away and did eat out at a restaurant, but that was on Friday night. No symptoms at all until this afternoon, about an hour after she ate sushi. We had watched the lady prepare the sushi in the grocery store (do they soak that seaweed in something other than water???), and we used the gluten-free soya sauce, but less than an hour later WHAM. The wet farts started. Poor kid. She went through a few pairs of underwear and then suggested that she simply go without underwear for a while :( . She did a (pretty normal) bm and had a round belly until bedtime. Bath helped her sore butt.

She said she could "taste" the gluten? She had an itchy throat when going to bed.. that's a new one for us. Ever experienced this?

These are the only different things she's had. The restaurant we've gone to before with great success, but it seems kind of soon to get the wet farts from the sushi???

What do you think?

(dd is 5yo, has been gluten-free for 6 months now)

Okay, this is my opinion. It is very possible that the Sushi was the culprit. It is also possible that it wasn't a glutening at all. The itchy throat is something I get when I eat something I'm allergic to. Gluten won't cause it for me.

What I'm saying is, that your daughter might be allergic to something other than gluten, that was in the sushi. Since I have no idea what is in it, I can't even begin to guess at what the culprit might have been.

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that. I hope others have better suggestions. I hope your daughter will feel better tomorrow.

What was on the sushi? :(

I feel the effects pretty much straight away or within 20 mins. The last time I was glutened was when I ate a small tiny piece of pickled ginger on my sushi. I'd never eaten it before (because the pickling process is dodgy on my stomach) and forgot that it was there when I popped a piece of sushi in my mouth.

Within two hours, I start to feel that I have been glutened, as in sore bloated stomach, and that progresses to the other syptoms.

My daughter feels bloated and has a tummy ache within 5 minutes. She is vomiting within 20.

I get symptoms immediately but some people get delayed reactions while others get no symptoms at all. Depends on the person

I begin to feel symptoms in about 2 hours. It's worse the next 2 days and then hopefully begins to get better.

My symptoms begin about 15 hours later - if it's from eating supper, say at 6:00 pm, then around 9:00 the next morning the D and cramps begin. This can continue up to 3 days.

I've had a reaction within 15 minutes of ingesting, after I have the meditation hour in the bathroom I'll still have bowel pain and nausea for another 2 days to a week depending on what it was & how much.

Other times I just get the painful twinges in my bowel off & on for a few days (I think this thends to be if I got CC)

But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
