The Best Chocolate Cake Mix?

DD is going to a friend's birthday this weekend for an overnight. She's already going to miss out on the pizza that night so I asked her mom if there was any way I could help. She's getting an ice cream cake from DQ and was planning to make a regular chocolate cake as well. I volunteered to do it so DD could have some since I would have to make some sort of treat anyway. Since this is for another child, I want to be sure it is just as good as what they are used to. I was thinking Namaste since all the kids in DD's classed seemed to like the cookies on her own birthday, but I thought I'd solicit opinions first!

My friend made the Cherrybrook Farms? one for her daughter's birthday. She made it as cupcakes, but I think you can bake it as cake too. She got the frosting too. It was REALLy good. We couldn't tell the difference at all.

I just had Gluten Free Pantry's chocolate truffle brownies for the first time last night and they were AWESOME, totally shocked. I would bet if they make a cake mix it would be great too!!!

We love the Gluten-Free Essentials Extreme Chocolate Cake Mix. We have tried a lot cake mixes over the years and this one is by far our favorite. :) The mix actually makes 2-round pans or one 9 x 13. Alot of the other mixes only make one round pan. Sometimes I can find these in the health market of my local grocery store or I have also ordered them from The Gluten-Free Trading company. The spice cake mix is really good too!

By far, our favorite is the chocolate cake mix from Namaste. It's delicious and, when I made it for my daughter's birthday, everyone (including gluten eaters) totally loved it.

If it only needs to be gluten free, I like Pamela's Products best by far. I liked it more than Namaste, Gluten Free Pantry, and Sylvan Border Farms. I do the "Ultra Rich" recipe on the package. I personally don't have Celiac Disease, but my son & possibly husband do, so I actually have tasted it side by side w/ gluten chocolate cake and don't taste much of a difference except it's a little less sweet and has a stronger chocolate taste than something like Duncan Hines mix. And others who have eaten it who also do not have celiac disease had no idea it was gluten-free until after they noticed that my son was eating it, too.

I've used Namaste, Cherrybrook Kitchen, Gluten-Free Pantry, but the one I like best is Pamela's. I made it into a birthday cake for my 4 year old daughter. Her friends loved it! They couldn't tell the difference!

Those are wonderful, I have tricked my coworkers with them, they did not believe they were gluten-free.

OK I have to reply to this I am addicted to the Gluten Free Pantry Brownies and so is my husband who is not Gluten Intolerant! I catch him eating them whenever I make them, the only problem is they go tooo fast :)

      Hello everyone. I am Elena and am 38 years old. I suspect I have a gluten intolerance even if my celiac panel is ok. I have the following symptoms : facial flushing, Red dots not bumps în face, bloating abdominal distension, hair loss, depression anxiety even with meds and even bipolar. Fatigue extreme to the point of not being able to work. All of these after I eat gluten. Could I have non celiac gluten sensitivity? Thanks anyone else with these symptoms?

      Hi Everyone,  I do appreciate your replies to my original post.   Here is where I am now in this journey.  I am currently seeing a Naturopath.  One thing I did not post before is that I take Esomeprazole for GERD.  My Naturopath believes that the decrease in the gastric acid has allowed the yeast to grow.    She has put me on some digestive enzymes.  She also put me on Zinc, Selenium, B 12, as she felt that I was not absorbing my vitamins. I am about 5 weeks into this treatment, and I am feeling better. I did not have any trouble taking the Fluconazole.

      I'm sure it's chemically perfect. Most of them taste lousy!

      Hi @JulieRe.  I just found your post.  It seems that I am also experiencing thrush, and my doctor believes that I have fungal overgrowth in my gut, which is most likely candida.  I'm seeing my GI doctor next week, so I'm hoping she can diagnose and confirm this and then give me an antifungal treatment.  In the meantime, I have been working with a functional medicine doctor, doing a candida cleanse and taking vitamins. It's already helping to make me feel better (with some ups and downs, of course), so I do think the yeast is definitely a problem for me on top of my celiac disease and I'm hoping my GI doctor can look into this a bit further.  So, how about you?  Did the candida come back, or is it still gone following your fluconazole treatment?  Also, was it awful to take fluconazole?  I understand that taking an antifungal can cause a reaction that sometimes makes people feel sick while they're taking it.  I hope you're doing better still !
