Since I am still new to this i hope someone can help me, I found Odwalla bars in chocolate peanut flavor. here is the ingredient list:

* Organic Rolled Oats

* Brown Rice Syrup

* Grape Juice Concentrate

* Peanut Butter (Peanuts and Salt)

* Dry Roasted Peanuts

* Chocolate Chips (Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Chocolate Liquor, Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin, Ground Vanilla Beans)

* Date Puree

* Plum Puree

* Peanut Flour

* Vegetable Glycerin

* Crisp Rice (Rice Flour, Rice Bran, Rosemary Extract)

* Organic Oat Flour

* Organic Soy Nuts

* Less Than 2% of: Organic Sunflower Oil

* Calcium Carbonate

* Natural Flavors

* Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Am I missing gluten or wheat somewhere?

I would not eat it because it contains oats. I doubt the company purchased the oats from the 2 or 3 companies that produce gluten-free oats. My guess is the oats are cc.

Definitely, the oats.

Also, "natural Flavor" - unless you know the source, it could be from anything, including wheat and barley.

Yep. If the company paid the extra money for the gluten-free oats, they'd be advertising that they were gluten-free. I'd almost guarantee that the oats are contaminated. Sorry. :( That sounds yummy too.

ditto on the oats, sorry.

I sent them an email so maybe they will respond.....I forget about oats being cc......thanks guys, for now they will stay on the off limits kaitlyn grace shelf!!!! I will let y'all know if they respond to me or not :):)

There's also debate even with uncontaminated oats how much someone with Celiac Disease can ingest. I believe for an adult it's the equivalent of 1 cup cooked oats that can be ingested on any given day. So I would guess it's less than that for a child.

Incorrect...it could have barley, but wheat is now REQUIRED BY LAW, to be listed if it is in anything like "natural flavors" etc. If it is not listed, these flavors do not have WHEAT.

Amanda - Tritto on the oats. Sorry, I bet you were really living there for a while. :-/

I looked at your signature, it doesn't seem like nuts or eggs are a problem. Would you like a quick & easy alternative to granola bars? I make a 5 minute crushed nut brittle and the kids love it. It is very portable and has some nice protein.

~Take a rolling pin and crush up about half a pound of cashews in their bag. My boys love to do this part. You can use macadamia as well.

~Separate an egg, discard the yolk, and whip up the white as much as you can by hand in a bowl.

~Mix in the crushed nuts and some sugar to taste. I'd use about a quarter cup sugar for half a pound of nuts.

~Spread it out about 1/4" - 1/2" thick on a foil lined baking sheet. I butter the sheet first sometimes.

~Bake at about 350 til crisp. Some people like nuts to be toasted more, others like it a bit chewier, experiment. Start with about 10 minutes.

Apologies to anyone who can't have the nuts, the eggs, the butter -- sigh - it gets complicated I know. :-(

Anyway - I send that in with my son's school lunch and many of his friends are asking me to send the recipe to their moms. I think I got the recipe originally from a pie crust, so you could also use it as that. Also if anyone likes cocount you could add some.

Hope that helps --- HEIDI

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

      Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.

      Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about the critical lack of consistent and updated education. Your idea to make Celiac Disease a reportable condition to public health authorities is a compelling and strategic one. This single action would force the system to formally acknowledge the prevalence and seriousness of the disease, creating a concrete dataset that could drive better research funding, shape medical school curricula, and validate the patient experience in a way that individual stories alone often cannot. It is an uphill battle, but contacting representatives, as you have done with Adam Gray, is exactly how change begins. By framing it as a public health necessity—a matter of patient safety and protection from misdiagnosis and neglect—you are building a powerful case. Your voice and your perseverance, forged through thirty years of struggle, are exactly what this community needs to ensure that no one else has to fight so hard just to be believed and properly cared for.
