My Daughters Movie Debut In Cannes In The Fall

Please don't get excited, just a mothers boast.

Two summer ago a movie crew here and did some shooting for a movie. It is called "Dog Days of Summer". We have not heard much so I googled it. The movie will make it's film debut in Cannes Film Festival in the Fall. The move stars Will Patton, and boy is he such a nice guy and very down to earth.

Annie plays the "girlfriend" of married Pastor Salem, played by R. Keith Harris (did a Spiderman stint), but his name is not on my celeb list. No improprieties as the girl friend, just walking in an out of his home. She was one to two "townies" that had a more significant role. Non speaking role, but not an extra either.

Oh, well. It's just a fun little experience in her young life.

Nothing redeeming in this post, but I think it's kinda cool.

Oh, how exciting!!! Cannes too??? She must be thrilled.

Remember what they say. There is NO SUCH THING as a bit part. She's there. She (and you) should enjoy every minute of it.

Keep us posted on all of this and let us know if it comes out on DVD. I'd love to see it.

That's pretty cool. My grandfather had a very small role in a British War Movie back in the 50's. He had one speaking line, something along the lines of "General, here's the map." I forget. and he's seen in the background several times. When it became available through some obscure movie video sales place in Europe, my mom obtained a copy, and it's a treasured family object.

Hopefully in this day and age, it'll be easier to have and keep you're daughters movie!

And who knows where it might lead...have you ever seen those TV specials where the highlight famous peoples first movie/tv appearence? Many times it's pretty modest.

I was a stunt double in a kayak a few years ago for a Chevy truck commercial. Unfortunately, I never actually saw the commercial, but I was paid well for the day and received a few modest residual checks. To this day, it's the most money I've made in one day! And it was interesting to be on set for the day.

Congrats! Is it a "chick flick"? If so, I'll probably end up seeing it, as my wife loves them!

Thanks Nancy, it's fun. But to wait. Annie is the left of my avatar. She's a sweetie, but down with the flu, first wedding anniversary June 10 and calling momma. I like that. :)

Mothers are supposed to boast. It's neat that your daughter got to be in a movie.

I have to agree, how cool!! My ex husbands brother had a friend, trying to make it in the movie business, started just like your daughter is, and now is a stand in (sometimes) for Ben Stiller in certain movies, I forget which and I am not calling the ex to find out!

But still, way cool for your daughter!! wooohooo!

thats great, yeah as was said above there is no such thing as a small part. My great great grandpa was in merry popins, he played the man on the roof that had the cannon. my whole family still remembers him to this day because of it, its amazing how a small part in anything can stick with generations

Thanks for that link, B. It looks good. I'll bet my son would really like it.

Lister--I loved Mary Poppins! I saw it as a child, and had the album with all of the music from the movie. That's really something that your great-grandpa was in it. :D

Lisa --- HOW COOL IS THAT?!! I'm really happy that she was able to have that experience. How many people get to do something like that in their lives? You must be SO proud! Congrats to your daughter!

Lisa - - very cool! :) I myself was an extra in two movies....."Ed TV" w/ Matthew McConnaughey - - YES he was ON SET filming the same day I was, in San Francisco.....I stood about four feet away from him at one point, and nearly fainted! Also I filmed a full day for "Puppet Masters" here in Fresno.

Alas, I did end up on cutting room floor, in BOTH!! Ha ha, still can't complain, had a blast doing both and will never forget either.

Oh, funny thing is, when I did casting call in SF for Ed TV, I lived in Monterey. about two months went by, and I totally forgot about it....they called at 11 pm on April 1st. I thought it was my friend Roger, playing a joke as he knew how much I loved Matthew.....but no, it was true! They wanted me in SF at 8 a.m. the next day, with five outfits, to play a paparazzo. Holy cow, I called my mom at that hour (she also lived in Monterey), said, I have this and this scheduled for tomorrow, what should I do?? and she said.....HONEY, it's MATTHEW, snap out of it, you are GOING!! so I got about two hours of sleep, got up at 3, left at 5 and arrived on time. Didn't even begin filming until 5 pm the next day. But ate and chatted all day and goofed off, got paid for it. Made many friends, and then did the Bay to Breakers with them a month later....a whole OTHER story!

Stood next to Ron Howard, who is VERY nice, as he watched the dailies. :)

Would you believe, out of our entire two days of filming (both movies), hardly any of it made it to the screen. In fact, the entire day in Fresno, involving many repeat helicopter landings, was re-shot. Very long and taxing, these filming days. Very complex. Gave me a whole new appreciation for movie making.

Anywho, it's a blast, and she is SO fortunate to actually be IN the movie!! You will go out of your mind when you see her, Lisa. :)

Matthew McConnaughey -- oooooooooooooh! Isn't he still single? I saw some television program that featured him at his home. He sleeps in every bedroom of the house because he likes them all! I thought that was pretty cool. Not to mention that the man is WAY too gorgeous! You need to find out if he's doing another movie and apply for a part as an extra again. This time, though, be more assertive -- introduce yourself, sweetie!

:lol: Yes you lunatic, that's about all we did together.....he was not friendly, unlike woody harrelson, who was flirting with everyone (he seemed......altered, I am sure that is not hard to belive). Matthew looked right at me, didn't even smile or anything. And Lynnie - - I was MUCH prettier and younger......um, guess what, Matthew is reported to be quite stinky, he refuses to use deodorant and doesn't bathe regularly.....but he is allegedly QUITE fun....yes, very hot.....I like his airstream and his barbecuing prowess....not sure about the naked marijauana-induced bongo playing

but, um, let's see.....he broke up with Penelope Cruz and also Sandra Bullock, and he does want children......I don't really think he would give little ol' ME the time of day, I gah-raun-tee it. Besides, I ahve lost interest in him......moved on.....don't have a new crush these days - - although there IS a photo of Dr. McDreamy on my fridge.

;)

Lisa, you will have to tell us precisely what part your daughter's in so we can nonchalantely say ....''Oh yeah,...that's Lisa's daughter - know the family really well ;) ''

...which are of course VERY important qualities....

Congratulations,

Your girls are both beautiful. Who knows maybe this could be one of those things that leads somewhere and if not it can be one of those things you can all look back on in years to come. I think that is just wonderful and I think it's great that you are proud of her.

Mother's hold the right to brag and Dad's hold the right to the remote control.

Have a happy mother's day!!!

If you haven't noticed a difference yet, bump up your Thiamax.  Add in another Thiamax with breakfast and lunch.  Increase the NeuroMag as well.  You can add in another Benfotiamine, too.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Taking more is fine. I had to bump mine up several times when first starting.  It's a matter of finding what works for you.  Everyone is different.   Stick with it.  Some of the health improvements are very subtle and gradual.   Keep going!  You're doing great!

Hello, @hjayne19, About half of the people with Celiac disease react to the protein Casein in dairy the same as to gluten with the inflammation and antibodies and all.  Reacting to Casein is not the same as lactose intolerance nor a dairy allergy.  Damaged villi are incapable of producing lactAse, the enzyme that digests lactOse, the sugar in dairy.  When the villi grow back, the villi can resume making lactase again.  I react to casein. Keep in mind that part of the autoimmune response to gluten and casein is the release of histamine.  Histamine causes inflammation, but it is also powerful excitory neurotransmitter, causing heightened mental alertness.  Histamine release is what causes us to wake up in the morning.  Unfortunately, excessive histamine can cause insomnia.  Our bodies can make histamine, but foods we eat contain different amounts of histamine, too.  Our bodies can clear a certain amount of histamine, but if overwhelmed, chronic high histamine levels can keep inflammation going and cause other health problems.   I got very weary of playing Sherlock Holmes trying to deduce what I was reacting to this week, so I adopted the low histamine version of the Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet designed by a doctor with Celiac, Dr. Sarah Ballantyne.  Her book, The Paleo Approach, has been most helpful.   The low histamine AIP diet cuts out lots of foods that are known to be irritating to the digestive tract.  After a few weeks, when my system was calmer and healing, I could try adding other foods to my diet.  It was much easier starting with safe foods, adding one thing at a time, and checking for reactions than trying to figure out what I was reacting to with so many variables.  I learned to recognize when I had consumed too much histamine from different combinations of foods.  Everyone is different and can tolerate different amounts of histamine in their food.  B Vitamins help us make enzymes that break down histamine.  Vitamin D helps regulate and calm the immune system.  Supplementing with Thiamine helps prevent mast cells from releasing histamine.  Keeping a food-mood-poo'd journal helps identify problematic foods.   I hope you will consider trying the AIP diet.

You may be cross reacting to the protein "casein" in dairy, which is structurally similar to gluten. People assume lactose intolerance is the only problem with dairy. It is not, at least for the celiac community.

Hi @knitty kitty  Just revisiting this to get some help. I found after understanding the extent of my anxiety, my sleep got a little better. Flash forward to a few weeks later I have had a few bad sleeps in a row and I feel desperate for a good nights sleep. I understand worrying about it won’t help but one thing I had tied things too was dairy. Initially when I went gluten free I felt great for the first few weeks then started having some stomach pain. So thought maybe I was lactose intolerant. I started eating lactose free Greek yogurt and that did help take the cramping away I guess. Over the last few months I haven’t eaten it every single day and I went a few weeks without it. The last few nights I did have a small amount with breakfast and noticed that was the only new thing I’ve really added to my diet. I had seen a few other posts about this. Is it possible to still react to lactose free? Would this potentially be a dairy allergy? Or something else.

I have taken the vitamins for a week. Haven't noticed any major changes but I will give it more time to see.
