What are some good BBQ sauces to use?

We love to bbq and last night we double checked some of our bbq sauces and couldn't tell if they were gluten-free. They ahd some iffy questionable ingredients and the place was closed so I couldn't call. so we decided to go for it since the product was made in the USA. Hopefully the ingredients were too!

Since we are still knew at this we ahve a few bottles that I think I am going to give away that have gluten in them but from now on for things that the whole family uses like condiments we are all going to be gluten-free on them.

Is KC masterpiece origonal gluten-free?

Sweet Baby Rays origonal?

Sweet Baby Ray's is gluten-free--and my absolute favorite. We love the Hickory and Brown Sugar, the original is very good, too.

Kraft Original is gluten-free for sure. As for their other flavors, any gluten would be clearly listed on the label as it is for all Kraft products.

I either use the Wegmans brand sauce or Sweet Baby Ray's. Both are very tasty. I have also used Kraft too, they are a very trustworthy company when it comes to listing gluten.

Thanks! I need to go get some more sweet baby rays. I have the Terriaki in the house which is a no go :( Last night we used KC Masterpiece Hikory brown sugar and it was yummy. So far so good. DD seems fine!

KC mastetpiece is gluten free, thats the one that I use, and also Kraft bbq sauce. Did anyone notice how helpful and nice various companies are when you call to question if their product contains gluten?? Usually they offer me free coupons for different products. :) Janet

I buy "cookies" bbq sauce which can be found at your local walmart. It says gluten free right on the bottle, and it tastes similar to Famous Dave's which was my favorite prior to being dxd.

Another bbq sauce that has "gluten free" on the label is Kinder's. The problem is that it is manufactured on equipment that processes WHEAT! That is a no go for a person with celiac. My dad was trying to conform to my diet and he saw it said gluten free so he purchased it. We didn't find out until later when I became ill that the processing warning was on the bottom line of the ingredients. They shouldn't market that as"Gluten Free" when cross contamination is involved.

This topic is over 5 years old. Please re- check ingredients on products that are mentioned. 5 years is a long time for food products and ingredients and practices change. I think there are newer threads about BBq sauces that might be more helpful.

notme Experienced

please note that this is a thread from 2007 and manufacturers change their ingredients.  always read the bottle/package and check ingredients.

Sweet Baby Ray's Original is still gluten-free and is marked as such on the bottle.

What are your daily meals? Guilty pleasure snacks? Protein bars? I feel when looking for gluten free foods they are filled with sugar cholesterol. Looking for healthy gluten-free protein bars. Something to fill since sometimes I feel like not to eat anything. Especially if on vacation and unsure of cross contamination I figure go with a salad and protein bar to fill and play it safe.

Unfortunately, there is presently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. NCGS is thought to be much more common than celiac disease. We know that celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder but the mechanism of NCGS is less clear. Both call for an elimination of gluten from the diet.

Thanks for your reply Trents…most appreciated.  I am unfamiliar with celiac labs terminology so I wanted to know if the presence of HLA variants (DA:101, DA:105, DQB1:0301 and DQB1:0501) that the labs detected had any merit in predisposing one to be more sensitive to gluten/carbs than the general population?  Also,  I found what you said about NCGS very interesting and I appreciate you mentioning that.  I’ve worked hard to research and advocate for myself with my Hematologist and now with a new GI, since my bowel surgery and to maintain my Vitamin B12 health concurrent with keeping my levels of Iron in the optimal range. I’ve been tested for SIBO (do not have it), biopsy showed negative for HPylori, and have had Fecal studies done (nothing showed up) and I understand how a loss of a large amount of bowel could be highly impacting re: SIBO, malabsorption and motility issues. So I’ve managed pretty well diet and elimination-wise until just recently. That said, this new problem with extreme bloating, distention and upper girth, NAFLD just occured over the last 4 months so it is new for me and I thought celiac might be a possible issue. I’ll probably just continue on in this less gluten/carbs seem to be better for me and see how reintroducing certain foods go.  Thanks again.

Thanks bumped it up and now take all 3 vitamins 2 capsules each with the super b complex at breakfast. I will give it some time to see if I notice a difference. I am going to track my eating daily diary on a myfitness pal app to see if the "claimed" gluten free foods bother me or not.

Please can anyone help. I was diagnosed on 23rd December and I am trying my best to get my head around all the things to look out for. I have read that yeast extract is not to be eaten by coeliacs. Why? And is this all yeast extract. Or is this information wrong. Thanks.
