No new special yet. I think I need to do some deep breathing. Funny thing is, I don't even know what I want to order yet. I know I want another eyeshadow sampler, but than I will have to choose colors. And we all know how hard that is! ;)

Exactly why within 1 minute of sending in my last order I had another mini eyeshadow kit going, lol. The colors have changed a few times, but less decision making on D-Day.

Take a look at Jess's avatar, EM has done such wonders her skin is as smooth as a baby!!!!

I have to agree with Donna about the knick knack. That stuff goes on really nicely.

Okay so for my next order I really want waffle cone and a long handled kabuki. Do you think they will have a special for orders over $14?

And I know I'm being a traitor lol, but I'm kind of excited to get my Aubrey Nicole samples. I think they'll be delivered today! :D

Okay, here is our list:

1. You choose your clothes according to the makeup colors your going to wear.

2. You plan a day ahead what makeup your wearing the next day.

3. You know you must have every brush EM puts out.

4. You spend over $30.00 in makeup because you like the new "special".

5. You wear makeup even when your planning on staying home for the day.

6. You plan a shopping trip centered solely around buying "accessories" for your makeup habit.

7. You remove and reapply a full face of makeup more than twice in one day just to see what a different combination looks like.

8. You compulsively check online to see when the EXACT MINUTE is that your EM order will arrive.

9. When your order arrives, you speed home and lock yourself in the bathroom with it so the kids can't interrupt as you paw through it.

10. You start looking at complete strangers and analyzing their makeup and think about how EM would look on them.

11. You take complete strangers hostage from other threads in hopes of raising money to feed your EM addiction.

12. You begin to think of all colors as base, lid, crease, and liner.

13. You're known to stalk DHL vans.

14. You put on foundation (and a bit of blush) to go running, and justify it by telling yourself that the make-up will provide good sun protection.

15. When you refer to your online make-up friends in everyday conversation, people look at you like this ----->

16. You own twelve shades of blush, and plan on ordering more.

17. You considered choosing ten shades of eye shadow an extremely difficult decision.

18. You couldn't decide whether you were warm, cool, beige or neutral, and you REALLY couldn't decide if you wanted matte, semi-matte, intensive or original-glo (and you ponder these things often).

19. Sometimes you feel like kermit.

20. The day is missing something if you didn't 'mix' more than one makeup color together.

21. You know the exact day the EM special will change. And you are seriously ticked off if they extend the current special.

22. On the day the special is supposed to change, the first thing you do in the morning is log into the EM site to see what the new special is. If it hasn't changed yet, you send EM an email to ask what time zone the change will occur in.

23. The second thing you do on the change of special day is to log on to this thread to make sure everyone else saw it and ask what they are ordering.

24. You are seriously bummed out if there are NO new posts in the EM thread.

25. You check the EM site 3-10 times a day JUST to see if there are any new colors or products.

26. you wake up early with the excuse to exercise when really you want an hour to put on your makeup while the kids are still asleep.

27. You cant wait to buy all the brushes and eye shadows in one shopping trip.

28. You email all of your "real life" friends and tell them about EM.

29. You talk so much about EM, your mom tells you to order her some.

30. Foundation, one type of concealer, two shades of blush and one shade of eye shadow is considered a light make-up day (because you usually wear three types of concealer and four shades of eyeshadow)...

31. You've gotten up at 5, spent all day at work, went to chorale practice without having time to open your makeup, get home at ten completely exhausted and still feel compelled to try out the chit chat blush because it's Donna's favorite.....or....wait, was that supposed to be knick knack? Shoot, when is that next special.

32. When you discover that the minerals are discoloring your sink you realize you'll have to do your remodel in "fair medium".

SEE, just wait til you get Pink Ribbon and see if THAT doesn't make your head spin trying to decide which one is your favorite. :P

I'm sure at SOME point they will. :P (Pssst, love the long handled kabuki)

So I'm sitting here looking at my new eyeglass case and have decided that I want THAT shade of eyeshadow, lol. It's a lovely pearly lavendar shade. Perhaps this shade and a lighter version.

Have you tried Snowflakes? How about Bedtime Story? I bet you could even mix the two together.

So many new posts,:lol: at everything!

Ok, has anyone tried Swimming Pool, All Smiles, or Soft Bronzer blushes??

And Mango, which was the Natural Reflections you spoke highly of? Fair, Light, Golden Tan??

Soft Bronzer - I like this. It's really really really light, but it's great - adds a touch of color without looking obvious.

I have natural reflections pink. I like this one too. :) Most days I use finishing dust though.

Haven't tried Snowflakes yet...it's one of the next up...it looks too dark in the jar though, but maybe on it will be better. Bedtime Story...wait...nope, don't have it and not in my next order but perhaps it should be, lol.

Ok, has anyone tried Swimming Pool, All Smiles, or Soft Bronzer blushes??

Not yet. Probably the next order after the the one that's in my cart (IF THEY EVER BLOOMIN CHANGE THE SPECIAL, lol).

Snowflakes is sooooo not too dark! I hate dark eyeshadows but this one is perfect as a crease color for me. Pots and pans makes a nice base for it, if you have that one. :D

Have Pots and Pans on today as a matter of fact. Okay, okay, I'll try Snowflakes, lol.

You must put Snowflakes over your already applied Pots and Pans as soon as you get home!

I just realized I still need to try cypress. How do you guys wear that one? As an eyeliner? Maybe wet? Hmm....

Ok thanks :) Soft Bronzer is going into my cart.

The Natural Reflections is what you said gave a nice blended in bronzer effect, right?

What again is the number of blushes you DO have Donna??

And out of all those blushes you only like 2? Pink Ribbon and Nick Nack, is that correct?

It's not really that hard to twist her arm and talk her into it Mango

Ok, these are some of the things I have in my cart:

Soft Bronzer

Nick Nack

Waffle Cone

Swimming Pool

Natural Reflections (undecided on color)

Good China

Rare Silk

Samba Lessons

I think I said that about Natural (the blush - not the finishing powder lol). Natural adds a bit of subtle color to may face and it blends everything nicely. Natural and Soft Bronzer are both good (in fact I think I'll use both tomorrow).

Natural is better as an all over face color that kind of diminishes things, while Soft is used kind of like BE Warmth, but it's much much much much lighter. Natural is sparkly (but the sparkles don't really show once you apply it) and Soft is matte.

I have Swimming Pool - I'm wearing it today in fact. It looks really brown in the jar, but I like it on. It has no sparkle, so it's good for days when you don't want that.

Haven't tried Snowflakes yet...it's one of the next up...it looks too dark in the jar though, but maybe on it will be better. Bedtime Story...wait...nope, don't have it and not in my next order but perhaps it should be, lol.

I thought the same thing about snowflakes, but it's really not that dark when you put it on. I wore that one yesterday.

I just realized I still need to try cypress. How do you guys wear that one? As an eyeliner? Maybe wet? Hmm....

I am wearing Cypress today. I have it on as a shadow over rare silk with in the garden as a liner. Cypress also works well as a crease color over pressed olive.

Good China

Rare Silk

Samba Lessons

I think you are relly going to like all of those shadow colors. Good china is a great base when you want sparkles, Rare silk is great when you don't, and Samba Lessons makes a great liner over most of the shades.

Santa, I have been a good little girl. All I want for Christmas is for the EM special to change!!!

dlp252 Apprentice

I just wore it as a lower lid color. It was very subtle.

What again is the number of blushes you DO have Donna??

 I have tried 9 blushes, and SIX are my favorites with Nick Nack and Pink Ribbon being my all time best favorites, lol. Weekend Getaway was one of the first I tried and that was good too. The only one I DON'T like is New Car Smell, lol.

THAT'S why I need a new special...I don't want another sample of new car smell, lol. Dang next special can be just about ANYTHING but that, lol. It't not a horrible color, but it just turned orange, and I don't want orange...brown okay, no orange. But I don't have strong feelings about this or anything. :P

How convenient! You're wearing all the colors we are curious about (or you wore them yesterday :P )

I have pressed olive, so I'll try cypress as a crease color tomorrow.

Any chance you're also wearing waffle cone today?

I have it, but I haven't used it as an eyeshadow. I think I tried it as a blush...must not have knocked me over because I don't remember how I liked it...I wrote on my little spreadsheet (yes I have a spreadsheet so I can keep all this stuff straight, lol) that I liked it as a blush, but I don't seem to remember it that way now, lol.

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay I took Countryside out of my mini kit and put in Bedtime Story, lol.

So I recently had allergy testing for IGE antibodies in response to foods. My test results came back positive to corn, white potatoes, egg whites. Tomatoes, almonds and peanuts to name a few.  I have had obvious reactions to a few of these - particularly tomatoes and corn- both GI issues. I don’t really understand all this allergy versus celiac stuff. If the food allergies are mild do I have to avoid these foods entirely? I don’t know what I will eat if I can’t  have corn based gluten free products

Geography makes a difference.  I'm in the West and Trader Joe's gluten-free bread tastes great and is a better price than most gluten-free breads sold elsewhere in my area.

We have four children (7-14 yo), and our 7 year old was diagnosed with NCGS (though all Celiac labs were positive, her scope at 4 years old was negative so docs in the US won't call it celiac). We have started her on a Gluten Free diet after 3 years of major digestive issues and ruling out just about everything under the sun. Our home and kitchen and myself are all gluten-free. But I have not asked my husband/her dad or her other siblings to go completely gluten-free with us. They are at home, but not out of the home. This has led to situations when we are eating out where she has to consistently see others eating things she can't have and she has begun to say "Well, I can't have <fill in the blank>...stupid gluten."  How have you supported your gluten-free kiddos in the mental health space of this journey, especially young ones like her. I know it's hard for me as an adult sometimes to miss out, so I can't imagine being 7 and dealing with it! Any tips or ideas to help with this?

By the time I was 5 I had my first auto0immune disorder, Migraine headaches, with auras to blind me, and vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. I was 5 years old, and my stepfather would have pizza night, milling his own flour, making thick cheesy gluten pizza, that I would eat and the next day, I would have serious migraines, and my mother & stepfather did nothing about my medical problems. When I was 17 in my first year at college, I was diagnosed with my 2nd known auto-immune disorder, Meniere's disease. I was a elite athlete, a swimmer, and soccer player. And once again my parents didn't think anything of understanding why I had a disorder only older people get. Now after my mother passed from Alzheimer's disease she also suffered with living with gluten. She had a rash for 30 years that nobody could diagnose. She was itchy for 45 years total. My brother had a encapsulated virus explodes in his spleen and when this happened his entire intestines were covered with adhesions, scar tissue and he almost lost his life. He has 5 daughters, and when I finally was diagnosed after being pregnant and my body went into a cytokine storm, I lost my chance to have children, I ended up having Hashimoto's disease, Degenerative Disc disease, and my body started to shut down during my first trimester. I am 6ft tall and got down to 119lbs. My husband and I went to a special immunologist in Terrace, California. They took 17 vials of blood as we flew there for a day and returned home that evening. In 3 weeks, we had the answer, I have Celiac disease. Once this was known, only my father and husband made efforts to change their way of feeding me. At the family cabin, my stepfather & mother were more worried that I would ruin Thanksgiving Dinner. It wasn't until one of my cousins was diagnosed with Celiac disease. They finally looked into getting Gluten Free flour and taking measures to limit "gluten" in meals. He did nothing but ask for me to pay for my own food and wi-fi when I came to the cabin to stay after our house burned down. When he informed my mother, they proceeding to get into a physical fight and she ended up with a black eye. The is just more trauma for me. Sam had no interest in telling the truth about what he wanted. He lied to my mother that he had asked my husband if I could pay for "food" when he asked Geoffrey if I had money to pay for my wi-fi. My mother hates when he spends so much time on the computer so he lied and said I could pay for my own food. I will remind you I weighed 119lbs at this time. (At 6ft) that is a very sick looking person. Neither parent was worried about my weight, they just fought about how cheap my stepfather was. As my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2014. He had her sign over the will to a trust and added his children. He had no testimonial capacity at the time, so she signed without proper papers. Making this Trust null and void. When I gave my brother my childhood home, my mother stated I would be getting an equal part of inheritance to the house on Race. It currently worth 2.0 million $. I got nothing, and my stepfather has since disowned me b/c of my claim and he knows that my mother would never have left it uneven between my biological brother and myself. She sat me and my husband down, as we lived at the Race Street house and treated and took care of it as our own. My brother took over b/c he was going through a horrific divorce and needed a home so he could get a better custody deal with his soon to be ex-wife who was a Assist DA for Denver. She used the girls against him, and he & I were the primary caregivers. We, Judd and I spent the most time with them pre the divorce. Once Judd moved into the house, he threw all of my mother, grandmother and my family heirlooms out to the Goodwill. Nobody told my mother about this as she was going through cancer treatment and had Alzheimer's disease in her mother and her sister. My stepfather and biological brother took advantage of this matter, as I called a "family council" that my brother just never could make it to at the last moment. All of the furnishing, kitchen ware, everything was in the house my brother just moved into. He had had 2 weddings, I chose to elope b/c my stepfather ruined my brother's first wedding by talking about his relationship with my brother in front of my dad and his entire family, insulting him and having my grandfather leave the ceremony. It was a disaster. My stepfather just plays dumb and blames my father for the slight. I was the only child not to have a wedding. So, my mother and stepfather never had to pay for a thing. My mother had had an agreement with my father he'd pay for college and all medical issues with their kids, myself and Judd. So truly my mother never had to pay for anything big for me in her entire life. I am looking for anyone that has had a similar story, where they grew up in a household that had a baker that regularly milled flour and ate gluten. What happened to you? DId you suffer from different auto-immune diseases b/c of living with a baker using "gluten" Please let me know. I have been looking into legal ways to get my stepfather to give me what my mother had promised, and he erased. Thank you for listening to my story. Jane Donnelly

Possibly gluten withdrawal. Lot's of info on the internet about it. Somewhat controversial but apparently gluten plugs into the same neuro sensors as opiates do and some people get a similar type withdrawal as they do when quitting opiates. Another issue is that gluten-free facsimile flours are not fortified with vitamins and minerals as is wheat flour (in the U.S. at least) so when the switch is made to gluten-free facsimile foods, especially if a lot of processed gluten-free foods are being used as substitutes, vitamin and mineral deficiencies can result. There is also the possibility that she has picked up a virus or some but that is totally unrelated to going gluten-free.
