Hello All!! I am so excited to have found this forum. I am new to this gluten free world (since Nov.07). I don't mind not eating some of my old favorite foods but not knowing which make up I can where is killing me. So, I hope that hope you are ok with a newbie joining your thread :D

I have attempted to read as much of this thread as possible but after 100 pages I got a little overwhelmed. Can anyone tell me which make up brand you are all so excited about? Also, has anyone here tried after glow cosmetics? I am just desperate to find a good gluten-free lipstick.

Thanks so much for all of your help. So glad to be here!!!

Hi, welcome to our crazy thread! The make-up we LOVE is called Everyday Minerals. It can be ordered from www.everydayminerals.com A good place to start is in the "kits" section. Click on the free sample kit and choose three foundation shades that you think might work for you, as well as a blush and a concealer. You just need to pay a few dollars for shipping.

This make-up is all gluten-free, all natural (my acne-prone skin has improved tremendously since I started wearing it) and it's so affordable. They have such amazing customer service and a really great selection of shades. Plus, it's so fun to order and even more fun to come here and chat about it.

I promise I am not affiliated with the company.

EM has great lip glosses, or you can use any of the blushes or eye colors on your lips (just combine it with chapstick). Burts Bees makes good gluten-free lipsticks too if you're looking for something quick from the drugstore.

If you're still reading the 100 pages, I hope we haven't scared you away yet. LOL

I just wanted to let you guys know...I was worried that with the renovation of EM's website and new products that all of their products wouldn't be gluten-free. I emailed them and they wrote:

Hello Kassandra:

Thanks for contacting us. One of my best friends has Celiac's Disease, and I am so happy that she is able to wear EM with no worries. I know it can be time consuming to always have to check with companies before trying products.

If we did ever have products that did contain gluten, we would certainly make that information easily available and identifiable.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Take care

Yes...I bought the little mini train case today, but the full sized one I had my eye on there seemed to be really hard to open. The lady was just struggling to open it, so I decided to wait. I'm going to order one off the internet that is like this one, but a little larger and has a couple more fold out trays. That ought to hold me for a while. The case I have now (which I took pictures of and will load somewhere online tomorrow, lol) will soon be too small!

Did you guys see that they extended the current special? It now says it applies to orders placed before 2/18. Does this mean there is a new website coming on 2/19??? This is way more fun than speculating about the outcome of the next presidential election.

I FINALLY broke down and bought an organizer. Target was clearing out a bunch of caboodles organizers, and I picked the pinkest and most sparkly in the bunch. I feel like I am 9 years old when I look at it, but it will make it a lot easier to find things. And the price was just too good to pass up.

AND

Today is the first day since mid-december I have not worn any makeup. I feel naked.

Hi ladies, I still haven't played with my new eye shadows. I'm going to need an organizer too, I think, even though I am much further behind some of you.

I will admit that I have been wearing make up every day for awhile now, which is very different for me. No gym membership so I can't achieve that status.

I will have to page back to all of the organizer talk. :D

Paula, I'm :D at the furniture buying if the make up didn't show up!! The two times I have ordered, I've done the USPS and been very happy, except that it was over a holiday last month.

Well last night i used the pressed olive and the snowflake and i hated them and i had no time to take them off before the banguet so i looked like an ding dong lol. I did use the nick nack blush and loved it. I also loved the sparkle bronzer. I need to play around with more of the stuff today when i have time and only have to go grocery shop so its ok if i look like an ding dong today lol.

I need an new ad tho cause i need to do an big order lol.

Yesterday i was watchng be commercials and i thoght baout ordering the 60 buck special they had just to get 4 brushes, cause i need brushes, but i wasnt sure if i would kick off the cult or not lmao.

My living room set look sso nice in my house tho so im glad i did buy it. we havent had an coffee table for years cause we always had a toddler learning to walk and i was afraid of them, so its nice to have one now after all these years. Now im thinking about an big screen tv tho, but dang those are expenisve when a person has to support her gluten free makeup habit lol

Cheri - Target has some good organizers...I also bought too Caboodles organizers there (very cute bright colors) and then found a craft organizer on clearance which is what I'm using now. I'm outgrowing them faster than I can blink, lol. I think somewhere in the first 20 pages or so are some links to different kinds.

donna,

I need to see pics of ur train thing, cause i need to order one like yesterday lol. After geting my makeup yesterday i have some in the box and then some in my makeup bag and i cant have things in different places cause i have some in the medicine cabinet to lol

My 3 yr had to put on makeup last night to, she picked out the sunlight dusting powder for eyeshadow and waffle cone for cheeks, so of course i let her, since it is safe lol

I forgot to mention that I bought some pure jojoba oil yesterday. I'm really afraid to put it on my face, but today used it on my legs, lol. After I get a feel for how it works on my legs, I MAY be brave enough to put it on my face tonight. :)

Although I am going to go to the mall tomorrow and look at Sephora...they also have some train cases I like, but I think I like the one in the link best, so if Sephora doesn't have one like this I'm order this one.

Omg shipping for fast delievery is expensive, so i did the free shipping. I cant wait to get it, hopefully i will before my next order of em makeup lol

OK, ladies. I think I need an eyeshadow intervention. My new Caboodles organizer has given me a conundrum. Now that I have all my eyeshadows organized, I figured out I have more than I thought I did. I actually have 28 colors, not 20. Add to that a few blush colors that I really like better as eye colors. So I really have 30 or so. Can I really justify buying another 10 color sampler? There are so many other colors I want to try! ARGH!!!

Does anyone have both Thank you and Morocco? It looks like they might be the close to same color but Morocco is Matte and Thank You is a shimmer. I have Thank You and am considering Morocco. Thoughts?

Can someone with green eyes and fair skin pull off Oasis? I like the description of it, but it looks so yellow on the website.

Oooh, can't wait to hear how everything fits in. This was one that someone posted over at the EM boards.

Silly, silly girl! What kind of a question is THAT for a cult thread?! Of COURSE you can justify it!

Yeah, what she said!

Sorry about the triple post thing. I got kind of ahead of myself.

Okay so my latest sample kit made it to San Diego (usps seriously rocks - it took two days). I probably won't get it until Tuesday with the holiday and what not.

I'm getting buff fairly light neutral, buff fair neutral and beige sunkissed fair. Does anyone else (who also happens to have tried muli-tasking) own these shades? LOL

I thought multi-task was my perfect match, but I "accidentally" caught a glimpse of myself in my car mirror - ya know the mirror that shows everything way too well (and I don't even know how that happened, as I would never purposely check out my make-up while driving :lol: ). Anywho, I'm starting to think I'm not as cool toned as I previously thought. Multi-task looks a bit too pink maybe?

Well, I know that was a fascinating tid bit for you all. I'll let ya know how the samples are when they get here :D

I have all of those I think. I can check for you later when I shower and get ready...aka spend 30 minutes with my EM! LOL!

 awesome. I'm gonna go mix together some foundation samples that don't work for me with the hopes of coming up with a good shade. Then I'm going running. (minerals = sunscreen and it's sunny today!)

Yup. I have green/blue/brown/hazel eyes (depends what color they want to be that day) and use multi-tasking neutral and I love this one! Last night I went to a contradance and just only that over my whole lid (wanted to look natural... :P) and I loved how it looked. :)

So... today I'm wearing the Once Again blush (I think that's the name) and I love this. It's like a lighter shade of the Plumb Dust. Also using Photo Album again as an eyeshadow... and my normal Spin Cycle as a highlighter.

I really need to invest in a makeup organizer, though.

Just the lip glosses, lol. All three drawers are now full, so the next lip gloss will push me into a different storage system. :P

Yeah, this is what happened to me. I read that book which said I SHOULD be warm, but I didn't believe it...went ahead and ordered some of the warmer foundations and those are the ones that look the best.

Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about the critical lack of consistent and updated education. Your idea to make Celiac Disease a reportable condition to public health authorities is a compelling and strategic one. This single action would force the system to formally acknowledge the prevalence and seriousness of the disease, creating a concrete dataset that could drive better research funding, shape medical school curricula, and validate the patient experience in a way that individual stories alone often cannot. It is an uphill battle, but contacting representatives, as you have done with Adam Gray, is exactly how change begins. By framing it as a public health necessity—a matter of patient safety and protection from misdiagnosis and neglect—you are building a powerful case. Your voice and your perseverance, forged through thirty years of struggle, are exactly what this community needs to ensure that no one else has to fight so hard just to be believed and properly cared for.

I had no idea there is a "Louisville" in Colorado!😉 I thought it was a typo because I always think of the Kentucky city--but good luck!

Navigating medication safety with Celiac disease can be incredibly stressful, especially when dealing with asthma and severe allergies on top of it. While I don't have personal experience with the HealthA2Z brand of cetirizine, your caution is absolutely warranted. The inactive ingredients in pills, known as excipients, are often where gluten can be hidden, and since the FDA does not require gluten-free labeling for prescription or over-the-counter drugs, the manufacturer's word is essential. The fact that you cannot get a clear answer from Allegiant Health is a significant red flag; a company that is confident its product is gluten-free will typically have a customer service protocol to answer that exact question. In situations like this, the safest course of action is to consider this product "guilty until proven innocent" and avoid it. A better alternative would be to ask your pharmacist or doctor to help you identify a major national brand of cetirizine (like Zyrtec) whose manufacturer has a verified, publicly stated gluten-free policy for that specific medication. It's not worth the risk to your health when reliable, verifiable options are almost certainly available to you. You can search this site for USA prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/

What you're describing is indeed familiar to many in the Celiac community, especially in the early stages of healing. When the intestinal villi are damaged from Celiac disease, they struggle to properly digest and absorb fats, a condition known as bile acid malabsorption. This can cause exactly the kind of cramping and spasms you're seeing, as undigested fats can irritate the sensitive gut lining. It is highly plausible that her reactions to dairy and eggs are linked to their higher fat content rather than the proteins, especially since she tolerates lean chicken breast. The great news is that for many, this does improve with time. As her gut continues to heal on a strict gluten-free diet, her ability to produce the necessary enzymes and bile to break down fats should gradually return, allowing her to slowly tolerate a wider variety of foods. It's a slow process of healing, but your careful approach of focusing on low-fat, nutrient-dense foods like seeds and avocado is providing her system the best possible environment to recover. Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal. This article may be helpful: Thank you for sharing your story—it's a valuable insight for other parents navigating similar challenges.

I had a very rough month after diagnosis. No exaggeration, lost so much inflammatory weight, I looked like a bag of bones, underneath i had been literally starving to death. I did start feeling noticeably better after a month of very strict control of my kitchen and home. What are you eating for breakfast and lunch? I ignored my doc and ate oats, yes they were gluten free, but some brands are at the higher end of gluten free. Lots of celics can eat Bob's Red Mill gluten-free oats, but not me. I can now eat them, but they have to be grown and processed according to the "purity protocol" methods. I mail order them, Montana Gluten-Free brand. A food and symptoms and activities log can be helpful in tracking down issues. You might be totally aware, but I have to mention about the risk of airborne gluten. As the doc that diagnosed me warned . . Remember eyes, ears, nose, and mouth all lead to your stomach and intestines.  Are you getting any cross contamination? Airborne gluten? Any pets eating gluten (they eat it, lick themselves, you pet them...)? Any house remodeling? We live in an older home, always fixing something. I've gotten glutened from the dust from cutting into plaster walls, possibly also plywood (glues). The suggestions by many here on vitamin supplements also really helped me. I had some lingering allergies and asthma, which are now 99% gone. I was taking Albuterol inhaler every hour just to breathe, but thiamine in form of benfotiamine kicked that down to 1-2 times a day within a few days of starting it. Also, since cutting out inflammatory seed oils (canola, sunflower, grapeseed, etc) and cooking with real olive oil, avocado oil, ghee, and coconut oil, I have noticed even greater improvement overall and haven't used the inhaler in months! It takes time to weed out everything in your life that contains gluten, and it takes awhile to heal and rebuild your health. At first it's mentally exhausting, overwhelming, even obsessive, but it gets better and second nature.
