Every Saturday, from March through December, there is a Farmer's Market in Marion Square, located in downtown Charleston, SC. A local girl has a booth there, with amazingly delicious fresh-baked gluten-free goodies, including ice-cream sandwiches made with the best chocolate-chip cookies you'll ever taste. Seriously, her stuff will bring tears to your eyes. I've been eating gluten-free for almost 20 years and without a doubt her yummies are the absolute best I've EVER had. They really do taste like "real food," and even my finicky non-gluten-free husband agrees. The "fallen angel banana cake" is absolutely not to be missed!!! :wub:

She's just launched a website: www.woodenspoondesserts.com and will also ship out of state. I don't think she has set up the online ordering part of her site yet, but she told me that if you email her she can ship her yummies to you. She will also do special orders and will attempt to meet any specific allergy requirements.

      If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:

      You might also consider a low iodine diet as iodine is know to exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. But be careful with that as well as there are health problems that can accrue from iodine deficiency.

      Hi, Yes, the rash has gone. I still get the itches but there is nothing to see now, apart from a lot of discoloured areas where the rash was worst. Occasionally I get a single lump come up, a bit like hives, but no bigger than a pea and it goes after 24hrs and a steroid cream application.  And yes, giving the gluten-free diet 110%. Very careful about any cross contamination.  This is my fifth autoimmune condition so well and truly on that bandwagon.

      Welcome to the the celiac.com community, @suek54! Is the Dapsone getting the rash under control? Are you practicing a gluten free diet yet? The only known cause for dermatitis herpetiformis is celiac disease.
