Hi All

After wearing the IBS label for about 10 years, then having my gallbladder removed, in addition to having my asthma worsen and experiencing new symptoms...I feel better after being on the gluten free diet that my new doctor put me on about a week ago. THANK GOD! I haven't had stomach cramps in almost a week!

My birthday is this weekend and I plan on still staying on the gluten free diet; I feel better, might as well. Only thing is, my husband wants me to find a cake recipe, a gluten free one.

I would love a strawberry or lemon gluten free cake (with little to know dairy, as too much makes me sick). Do you all have any great recipe suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Sophie

Hi Sophie and welcome :)

If you can get your hands on one, get the "Cause Your Special" Lemon Cake Mix. I made one for the first time last week and it was fantastic. The texture was good and the lemon flavor was just right--not fake at all and very light.

I frosted it with homemade buttercream frosting--my non gluten-free husband said it was the best gluten-free cake he's had yet :D

Have a nice birthday!!

My Grand-Aunt Helen used to make me her famous lemon-jello cake every year for my birthday. Now I need to try to duplicate it. :)

I think it was a basic old-fashioned butter pound cake that she would punch holes in (after it cooled) and drizzle with her brown sugar glaze. The topping was made with a package of lemon jello dissolved in 1 c boiling water with a tablespoon of butter, a tsp. of lemon extract and 3/4 c brown sugar. I think she may have used rum extract in there somewhere, too (or maybe some rum in the cake.) Pour over the top of the cake, a little at a time, until it soaks the glaze all in. Refrigerate just until set.

Anyone has a good Gluten-free pound cake recipe? I NEED to make this now.

I ran across this Almond Pound cake the other day buy I haven't tried it. It takes 2 cups almond flour in case you might be interested.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
