I don't post here much, but I had to let all of you Long Islanders know about this place. I don't know why there is not anything posted here about them. I went last week and here is what I had:

Mozzarella sticks

ravioli

cannolli for desert!!!!

It was SOOOOOOOOOO good, and I DID NOT GET SICK!!!!! :D . Their gluten free menu has a ton of options. Seriously, I can go back there and eat something DIFFERENT next time (and the time after that....). They also had a lot of options for desert: apple pie, brownie, and the awesome cannolli. They are located in the Waldbaums shopping center on East Main street in Smithtown.

Oh, and DH and friends said the regular food was great too!

I know this post is old, but I actually used to work there. They do have a great gluten-free Menu and the owner actually sells his stuff at Uncle Guiseppes in Smithtown, well only the Tiramisu. They tried to cater to the gluten-free community. The head chef takes a lot of pride is his gluten free foods and the health of his patrons.

I discovered it this fall and mentioned it in a post a few weeks ago. The chicken parm is amazing! My friend (also gluten-free) and I tried to send back the Italian bread cause it looked so "real" we thought it wasn't gluten-free.

      The biopsy looks for damage to the mucosal lining of the small bowel from the inflammation caused by celiac disease when gluten is ingested. Once you remove gluten from the diet, inflammation subsides and the mucosal lining begins to heal.

      Our support groups in Iowa have tried for years to educate doctors and resource sites like this one.  We have held yearly conferences with continued education classes.   We have brought in Dr. Murray, Dr. Fasano, Dr. Green and Dr. elliott.  In those many years we may have had 2 doctors attend.  We sent them information, with no response.  I talked to my personal doctor and she said their training for Celiac was to show them a skinny man in boxer shorts and a huge stomach.  Saying if you see this, it is Celiac.  If it isn't in their playbook then they don't care.  Most call it an allergy with no mention of our immune system.  There is so much false information on the internet.  Then people don't understand why they can't get well and are acquiring more immune diseases. I mention this site to everyone.  Scott has working hard for the Celiac community.

      If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:

      You might also consider a low iodine diet as iodine is know to exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. But be careful with that as well as there are health problems that can accrue from iodine deficiency.
