Looking For The Ideal Info To Send To My Family

Hello :)

My doctor wants me to inform all of my first and second degree relatives that I have been diagnosed with celiac disease so that they can get tested. I really don't want to call all of them though  So... I was thinking that I would just print up some info and mail it to everyone.

Can anyone recommend a really comprehensive but easy to understand article? I don't want it to be too simple because I've already had a few relatives saying things like, "Oh, well I can eat wheat and I don't feel any different so I don't think I've got it" (when they have thyroid disease, bipolar disorders, diabetes, etc.) I'd like to find an article that says something like, "Look! You might have it and not have the typical GI symptoms! It's worth being tested or else your asymptomatic condition could turn into ..."

Know what I mean?

I have a whole bunch of links, but they are all either too long or too complicated or too simple. I'd love to see some suggestions, particularly if you've used a specific article to introduce celiac disease to the people in *your* life.

Thanks!

- Michelle

Well, in my family we have a pretty good grapevine so I only told about 4 people and the rest took care of itself. I sent the articles from csaceliacs because I liked the way they explained things. Then my aunt (who is the head of a library at a medical school) inundated the whole family with about a million med journal articles.

From their website I see "organic barley leaf powder" as an ingredient. Keep in mind that the gluten is in the kernel, and not in the leaves. https://drinkag1.com/about-ag1/ingredients/ctr

Before the rise of social media we were well known by a lot of doctors and were recommended by many, especially our Safe & Forbidden Lists, but as doctors get younger and younger this is probably not happening as much as before.

Thanks Scott I will definitely check my vitamins and minerals to see what I am missing so then I can supplement. I was very concern about my Meniers syntoms and i tryed to find some alive. Now im just realizing that my celiac is provably the root cause of my Meniers none of the 12 doctors I saw told me anything about this.  This web site is so helpful, thanks to people like you we can get answers.

Vitamin D deficiency can contribute to rib pain. Chest pain stemming from the ribs ccould be costochondritis, which involves inflammation of the cartilage connecting the ribs to the breastbone. This pain can range from mild to severe, potentially mimicking heart attack symptoms, and is often worsened by breathing or movement. Other potential causes include muscle strain, rib fractures, or even referred pain from other conditions.  It will also help to chose vegetables low in omega 6.
