Looking For Emergency Cure

Diagnosed coeliac 25 years ago and haven't touched gluten since then. Was given porridge oats by accident and I ate it - that was 21 days ago. I have diarrhoea every day and sometimes I am up at night with it. The pain is all over by stomach. Doctors don't know what to do with me. Every time I eat something I get diarrohea and pain. I can only take a vitamin drink and water. I recall reading somewhere that there was a tablet or something you could take to counteract the symptoms of the allergy in the event of an emergency. Has anyone heard of this ? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Katie.

The only thing really to do is let the reaction run it's course. My reactions last 2 weeks, some people have them longer and some shorter.

I hate to bring bad news but there is nothing to make the reaction stop. There are medications that may ease symptoms.

If you can get something on your stomach stick with foods that settle good...like rice, baked potatoes, jello

Teas are very soothing as well so you may want to try a peppermint or ginger tea if your stomach can handle it.

As celiac is not an allergy, but an IgG immune response, there is nothing you can do but wait it out.

Relieve the pain with a medicine ball. Lie down on the floor when you do this and put the medicine ball on your left side after a meal or right side hours later. Place it above the hip and beneath the rib cage and then turn and squeeze the ball like a grape with your gut and rock it a little. You should feel it breaking up a touch..

Also, lying right on your back with pressure placed just below the tail bone with the point of a small pillow can help at times..Get in the habit of stretching properly.

Professional baseball players have a good routine and they use medicine balls a lot..

You might also consider rolling a tennis ball in all directions on your gut, above and below the belly button..

Hope this helps..

I use a heating pad...but that only works with pain. Intestinally, there's nothing you can do.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
