Gluten-Free Fast Food French Fries

Does anyone know if ANY fast food fries are gluten-free? I've looked on several websites and I see nothing about Gluten. I see info about allergies and wheat but nothing about gluten.

Thanks!

You have to ask at each fast food location. The key question: do you have a dedicated fryer for only the fries, or is the oil used for breaded chicken or onion rings? The onion rings are the most likely contaminant.

If they use the fryer and the oil for only the french fries, I know McDonald's, Wendy's, and Burger King fries are all gluten-free. The key question is the oil in the fryer, and each location is different so you always have to ask.

McDonald's lists wheat in their FF, but they are processed to the point that there is no detectable gluten remaining (or considered safe for people with Celiac to consume):

Chick-fil-A's are suppose to be gluten free. Love those waffle fries. ;)

You're correct. I haven't personally tried McD's, but I have tried Burger King and Wendy's and they are both OK if they have a dedicated fryer. The busier locations tend to have dedicated fryers, whereas slower business leads to sharing oil.

Keep in mind I'm not the most sensitive Celiac out there, but I'm also not the most insensitive. So be careful with your own health, too.

If you're on the west coast of the US, In 'n' Out burger joints have gluten-free fries. They make them from potatoes and slice them right next to the friers, which are dedicated only for the fries themselves. We've had to ask them to use clean gloves and such, but they have typically been good about avoiding CC.

I eat the fries at ChikFila with no problems. They have a dedicated fryer.

Nando's has dedicated fryers (and many meal options as well!) but the Peri-fries have HVP which MAY be wheat, but they put it on after so the oil isn't contaminated. I've never had a problem, I'm pretty sensitive.

Five Guys restaurants only do french fries in their fryers, so those are safe. In fact, the only gluten items on the menu are buns for the burgers and hot dogs. All of the toppings are safe (and the burgers are good!).

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
