I just can't keep up with this thread.  It's like, in the old days, using the telephone on a party line.

I missed Cinco De Mayo, didn't know it was coming up.  I need plenty of warning for Holidays if I'm gonna hit the right day!

And one more thing, when exactly is Mothers Day.  I know its coming from all the commercials on TV.

Oh, I made brownings last night.  Hips be damned!

Colleen

Mother's Day is this coming Sunday -- shall I send a memo to your kids ;)

It's hard to miss Cinco de Mayo this close to the border -- the college crowd and older folks start partying about the 2nd or 3rd and stop on about the 7th!  I actually warned my new drivers of major holidays and using extra caution for drunk drivers and yep, include the 5th of May week in that category here.

Make some nachos and I'll send a margie over to ya!

I'm afraid to ask.  What's a Margie?   And it was a nice thought about the memo but if they actually got me anything for Mothers Day I would have to give them the money for it...lol

I think that is an affectionate name for a Margarita.

They could wash & wax your car or something.

Margarita - do you like blended or on the rocks?  salt or no salt? :P

GF Lover Rising Star

Oh heck ya!.  Add me to the "Margie of the Month" club  :D I like em shaken with salt....

I could possible get my Son to wash and wax but since I told my daughter in a very nice way to "move her assets out of my house", she might be a hard sell.  I'll look for something on Facebook from her.

I love chores as gifts -- hubs deep cleans the kitchen floor for me this week every year -- my birthday follows right after Mother's Day so it gets lost in the Mother's Day celebration for my Mom every year -- my crappy old kitchen floor gets shiny next weekend -- it really is one of my favorite gifts -- sometimes I ask for it for Christmas too :)

All this talk of shipping Margies around the country got me thinking...I'm not pouring Margaritas tonight -- I'm going to make a cake!  Gotta love google:

Edited to add...with the price of limes...mine will not be decorated with the little green guys.

What will you use for the orange cake mix?

IrishHeart Veteran

Yes, Please!

 DItto

I was thinkin.....if you use triple sec, you would not need "orange cake mix" as I would think that would be "orangey" enough. There's always orange extract??.

and for the love of mike, you chicks are killin me with the cakes....I'll just have the Rita as we call them 'round here. Hand made, no mixes, the old fashioned way.

I use BRM vanilla cake mix for all flavored cakes...will toss in some frozen oj concentrate and call it "Orange Cake Mix"

Thanks to the Mex cartels and crap weather. The fruit stand peeps (who get some of their produce from there) are none too thrilled.

I've been getting 4 for a buck until last week. One is  now .79 and J had to squeeze that sucker with pliers to get anything out of it.

I usually frown upon Garage Tools in the Kitchen.  I take a box of garage tools out of the house every week or so.  It's interesting too because nothing in the house is getting fixed but there's tools everywhere....huh.

Thanks for the giggle...REALLY needed it...long f$#%ing morning dealing with peeps insurance and other such fun things -- now I'm ready for a rita!!!!!  Still can't do citrus so this chickee is having a glass of pinot to toast my neighbors to the south --- opening right now!

My favorite is hearing them bounce around in the washer or dryer.  How many wrenches & bolts and washers can you fit into 1 pair of jeans?  1 pocket has the phone & one the wallet - so... doing the math and extrapolating from my extensive research (getting them out of the wash/dryer )- the answer is 1 wrench, 3 allen wrenches,  3 standard sized bolts, 3 pennies, 1 nickel, 1 quarter, 6 washers, 2 zip ties and 1 pair of safety googles.  Thank goodness the boys don't have any of those painters pant style with the extra pockets!

Only tools inside this house are mine and they are not allowed to migrate to the shop!

Cobbler's kids had no shoes.....Contractor's wife does all minor repairs (otherwise I have to hear either A: why blankity blank is not needed or B: get right to it - contractorease for one day in the future if I remember the conversation)

Luckily when things are leaking flooding or floating away he does spring into action dragging the boys in tow

I usually only get wallets, money and golf balls and tees... <_<

Now I'm hungry...guess another brownie :D

Have to reply to myself because all joking aside, my man is wonderful about taking care of business.

Multi-talented, he does electrical, plumbing, woodworking, fixes cars (HUGE motor head! he had a '68 corvette when we met and he let me drive it!!) and he does fix everything. He taught me how to lay hardwood floors, plus our beautiful slate floors back in NY --around the woodstove, etc, etc,

we made that house pretty special.

OOH and he can get a cork out of a wine or champagne bottle in a few seconds flat. whoohoo!! (and we say whoohoo! every time it pops)

I was just joshing. I always give him credit for being the handiest guy I know.

Even if I find golf tees, nails, and other assorted things in his pockets.(do not ask)...and in the washing machine.  I have only one little boy but he's a handful LOL

Got groceries today, picked up a brownie mix since I was craving them (HEB store brand, new item, not that good to boot.  Should have gone with KAF.), and after I made it and pulled the pan out and set it on top of the stove, I reached to the top shelf of the upper cabinet to get my cooling rack down.  Burnt myself on my tummy!   So I blame you all for my fat hiney and my burnt belly, lol.  It hurts really bad even though it is a minor burn, I guess it is the location.  I burn myself often enough that I keep burn spray in my kitchen pantry, LOL.

Tonight will be grilled chicken with carrots and corn on the cob.  It is pretty much Mexican food season year round here in Texas so no special celebration tonight, haha.  And Cinco De Mayo is everyone's favorite drinking holiday, stay off the roads late at night.  We had tacos yesterday so I suppose that counts for an early celebration :)

Looking for help sourcing gluten-free products that do not contain potato or corn derived ingredients. I have other autoimmune conditions (Psoriatic Arthritis and Sjogrens) so I’m looking for prepared foods as I have fatigue and cannot devote a lot of time to baking my own treats.

I am so sorry you're going through this. It's completely understandable to feel frustrated, stressed, and disregarded after such a long and difficult health journey. It's exhausting to constantly advocate for yourself, especially when you're dealing with so many symptoms and positive diagnoses like SIBO, while still feeling unwell. The fact that you have been diligently following the diet without relief is a clear sign that something else is going on, and your doctors should be investigating other causes or complications, not dismissing your very real suffering.

It is just so sad that health care in the United States has come to this.  Health insurance should be available to everyone, not just the healthy or the rich.  My heart goes out to you.  I would not hesitate to have the test and pay for it myself.  My big concern would be how you could keep the results truly private.  I am sure that ultimately, you could not.  A.I. is getting more and more pervasive, and all data is available somewhere.  I don't know if you could give a fake name, or pay for your test with cash.  I certainly would not disclose any positive results on a private insurance application.  As I understand it, for an official diagnosis, an MD needs to review your labs and make the call.  If you end up in the ER, or some other situation, just request a gluten free diet, and say it is because you feel better when you don't eat gluten.      Hang in there, though.  Medicare is not that far away for you, and it will remove a lot of stress from your health care concerns.  You will even be able to "come out of the closet" about being Celiac!

Yes, I've posted a few times about two companies: Request a Test and Ulta Labs. Also, pretty much we can all request any test we want (with the possible exception of the N protein Covid test and I'm sure a couple of others) with Lab Corp (or Pixel by Lab Corp) and Quest. I much prefer Lab Corp for their professionalism, ease of service and having it together administratively, at least in DC. And just so you know, Request a Test uses Lab Corp and Quest anyway, while Ulta Labs uses only Quest. Ulta Labs is cheaper than Request a Test, but I am tired of dealing with Quest, so I don't use them so much.

PS - I think you meant this site, but I don't believe it has been updated in years: http://glutenfreedrugs.com/ so it is best to use: You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/
