Hi

As well as not being able to eat gluten, I also have a sensitivity to corn, rice and potatoes. Does anyone have some dessert recipes that they might have that don't have any of those ingredients in it? Thanks!

Baked Apples are really good!

6 large apples

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon butter

Wash and core apples, then remove a 1 inch strip of peel around the middle of each apple; place in a 2-quart shallow baking dish.

Combine sugar, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar in a small bowl; fill the center of each apple and dot with 1/2 teaspoon of the butter. Add just enough water to baking dish to cover the bottom of the dish; bake, uncovered, at 350

Also, google "Elana's Pantry" and you will find a blogger that makes most of her recipes with almond or coconut flour. I think all of her recipes are grain free and gluten free.

Search for The Spunky Coconut, I believe she does a lot of cooking like this.

Some of my all-time favourite desserts are naturally gluten-free. How about meringues or pavlova? Pavlova looks impressive, SO simple to make and tastes amazing. Same with dacquoise - it is layers of almond and hazelnut meringue chocolate (or other flavour) buttercream. Panna cotta is also lovely. Oh, and granita! So cool and refreshing. Or roasted pears with caramel sauce? The last one I've listed is strawberry semifreddo.

A while back, I saw a blogger who was doing dried fruit salads for a while. There are some great combos, especially when you include dried fruit and nuts. 3 or 4 delicious ingredients, a quick soak in little lemon/orange/pineapple juice or syrup, maybe a few dashes of spices, and you're in good shape. This time of year, it would bea easy to do one or two fresh fruits with one dried fruit. I've done apricots in pineapple juice with canned pineapple and toasted almonds. It was delicious. If you're love2travel, you'd pull out the rose water, orange flower water, steeped lavender flowers, or even just a little limoncello to dress it up. If you want a recipe, it would be something like this but I skip the overnight and just soak for 20-30 minutes in hot or a couple hours in cold liquid.

I like dried fruit and nuts dipped in dark dark chocolate, either as individual pieces or as little turtle type candies. Homemade peanut butter/almond butter cups are pretty awesome. Stuff dates with almonds/almond paste and dip in chocolate; roll in toasted minced almonds. You can do the same with pistachios.

Flan!! I've become a flan eater.

And... buckeyes (peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate) in the Ohio sense.

You know me so well! :D

Great idea re dried fruit salads and dipping in chocolate. I haven't dipped in chocolate for a long time. Dried apricots, blueberries, cranberries etc. are wonderful in salads with torn buffalo milk mozzarella or ricotta and something crunchy like toasted macademia nuts or pecans or something peppery like arugula and peppered almonds.

Thanks for the dried fruit reminder! :)

Grain free foodies also do grain and potato free stuff. All the recipes on my blog linked from my profile are, too, though we don't have a bunch of deserts yet.

These are pretty awesome, even using rosemary ground from dried. Sub'ing in lavendar flowers and adding a dollop of plum jam in the place of hte rosemary also made a delicious sweeter version.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
