This weekend, you should try walking into a store all panicked and ask what year it is. When they respond with 2012, smile... start laughing uncontrollably and start screaming, "IT WORKED!!! IT WORKED!!!" If you can capture this on video, even better.

today, (because it was more fun than Spring cleaning <_< )...I was thinking of going with the flapper outfit from when I played Flo in the musical "Good News"....boa and all.

An old woman came into her doctor's office and confessed to an embarrassing problem. "I do that all the time, Doctor Johnson, but they're soundless, and they have no odor. In fact, since I've been here, I did it no less than twenty times. What can I do?"

"Here's a prescription, Mrs. Harris. Take these pills three times a day for seven days and come back and see me in a week."

Next week an upset Mrs. Harris marched into Dr. Johnson's office. "Doctor, I don't know what was in those pills, but the problem is worse! I'm doing it just as much, but now it smells terrible! What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Calm down, Mrs. Harris," said the doctor soothingly. "Now that we've fixed your sinuses, we'll work on your hearing!!!"

I dance like that, but hubs....er, does not. Two left feet.

I still dance, even when I am extra ouchy.

That reminds me of a coworker I had who complained all the time. He would use that old saying, the squeaky wheel always gets the grease? I got sick of it one day and told him that sometimes the squeaky wheel gets rePLACED. He got fired a week later... :D

Heard this one today.

A tough old cowboy from South Texas counseled his grandson

that if he wanted to live a long life, the secret was to

sprinkle a pinch of gun powder on his oatmeal every morning.

The grandson did this religiously to the age of 103 when he

GOOD: At Houma, a policeman had a perfect spot to watch for speeders, but wasn't getting many. Then he discovered the problem--a 12-year-old boy was standing up the road with a hand painted sign, which read 'RADAR TRAP AHEAD.' The officer also found the boy had an accomplice who was down the road with a sign reading 'TIPS' and a bucket full of money. (And we used to just sell lemonade!)

BETTER: A motorist was mailed a picture of his car speeding through an automated radar post in New Orleans. A $40 speeding ticket was included. Being cute, he sent the police department a picture of $40. The police responded with another mailed photo of handcuffs.

BEST: A young woman was pulled over for speeding. A Louisiana State Trooper walked to her car window, flipping open his ticket book. She said, "I bet you are going to sell me a ticket to the State Trooper's Ball." He replied, "Louisiana State Troopers don't have balls." There was a moment of silence. He then closed his book, tipped his hat, got back in his patrol car and left.

      here are the lab ranges. Normal ranges for tissue transglutaminase are: <15.0 Antibody not detected > or = 15.0 Antibody detected normal for endomysial antibody is < 1.5. So she is barely positive but still positive.

      I have been diagnosed with coeliacs disease today after endoscopy, bloods and CT scan. I have also been diagnosed with Mesenteric Panniculitis today.       So her tissue transglutaminase antibody is almost 4x the upper end of the normal range - likely a real result. The other things you can do besides an endoscopy would be: 1.  Genetic testing.  Unfortunately a large proportion of the population has genes permissive for celiac disease, but only a small proportion of those with the genes have it. With family history it is likely she has the genes. 2.  Try a gluten free diet and see if the symptoms go away AND the antibody levels return to normal. (This is what I would do). Endoscopies aren’t always accurate in patients as young as your daughter. Unfortunately, without an endoscopy, some doctor later in her life may question whether she really has celiac disease or not, and you’ll need to be a fierce mama bear to defend the diagnosis! Be sure you have a good written record of her current pediatrician’s diagnosis. Doing a gluten challenge for an endoscopy later in life could cause a very uncomfortable level of symptoms.   Having yourself, your husband and your son tested would be a great idea.

      The normal ranges can vary for the tissue transglutaminase and gliadin antibody celiac tests because the units aren’t absolute.  Could you please tell us what the normal ranges are for the laboratory used? If her tissue transglutaminase results are 10-fold above the normal range some would diagnose her on that alone.  Endomysial antibody ranges are more standardized, and a titer of 1:5 would usually be normal.  Might that be the normal range and not her result?  Her total immunoglobulin A is normal for her age. (This is tested because if low, then the other IgA tests might not be valid).

      Hello there! New to celiac community, although I have lots of family in it.  My two year old was just diagnosed with celiac disease based on symptoms and bloodwork.  symptoms (swollen belly, stomach hurting, gagging all the time, regular small vomit, fatigue, irritability, bum hurting, etc) she got tests at 18 months and her bloodwork was normal. She just got tested again at 2 1/2  because her symptoms were getting worse and these were her results :   Tissue Transglutaminase Ab, IgA 58.8 Unit/mL (High) Endomysial Antibody IgA Titer 1:5 titer (Abnormal)   Gliadin Antibody IgA < 1.0 Unit/mL Gliadin Antibody IgG 8.5 Unit/mL Immunoglobulin A 66 mg/dL Her regular pediatrician diagnosed her with celiac and told us to put her on the strict gluten free diet and that we wouldn’t do an endoscopy since it was so positive and she is so little (26lbs and two years old). I’m honestly happy with this decision, but my family is saying I should push and get an endoscopy for her. It just seems unnecessary and an endoscopy has its own risks that make me nervous. I’m certain she has celiac especially with it running in mine and my husbands family. We are now thinking of testing ourselves and our 5 year old as well.  anyways what would y’all recommend though? Should we ask for an endoscopy and a GI referral? (We are moving soon in 5 months so I think that’s part of why she didn’t refer us to GI)
