What Could It Be? Pirate Booty? Gator Aid Or Vitamin Water?

Has anyone had an issue with Pirates Booty? I had some today and have no idea what the cause is of frequent painful poop.

I hate those days when you just have no idea. I hate popping the imodium when you don't know what the cause is. Pirate booty has corn in it. Could I be sensitive to it. I also had gator aide and vitamin water. Any ideas on that? So bummed.I post every few months when I have the issue.

I'd have to point 1st at the Pirate. Some pretty long ingred lists on some of those. The 'nutritional yeast' in some would get me, and the soy flour in the veggie one. Remember which flavor?

I have had this type of problem before. What I learned to cope with it is to only try one new thing at a time. I try to only do one new thing per week. It can sometimes take that long for a low level reaction to become evident. That way I know what it most likely to have caused my problem. For a really super sensitive celiac, it could be any or all of those. I'm sorry you got hit. I hope that you feel better soon.

Yep, could be any of the three. I got hit once by Vitamin water so I don't drink it anymore. Not sure why though, not really thinking ti was gluten but something else in it. I am not interested enough in drinking vitamin water to try and figure it out. I just got one a on a hot day to cool off. But never again.

over abundance of vitamin B12 (vitamin water) can cause "D".

What food dye was used in the gator aid? Food dyes cause me grief more times than I care to remember. (both red and blue even if they are gluten free)

keep a food journal to see if there is a link to a certain ingredient or if it is a cross-contamination issue.

I confirmed with myself that I can't handle Pirate's Booty.

I have also confirmed with myself that gatorade is fine for me, but powerade is a no-no.

I don't do the vitamin water drinks, they often have artificial sweeteners which I can't do.

EDIT.... Today, my total intake had been a banana before the gym, a lot of water, a gatorade frost purple after the gym, and 2 hard boiled eggs after the gym. I took a nap and woke up sore and bloated.

The only thing I can assume is the gatorade, even though I had a few of them over the past 2 weeks. Nothing else I ingested could have got me.

Gatorade and I hate each other, it's a mutual feeling I've decided. ?

Caselynn,

Can you tell me anything specific about your reaction to gatorade? Today's reaction must have been gatorade, which had been ok before. Today's reaction for me is not as severe as glutening, but there is no doubt I have joint pain, bloating, and constipation. Also, my body seems to be running hotter than when I'm perfectly clean.

There is an awfully lot of sugar in Vitamin Water, and it is in the form of crystalline fructose. There is some discussion out in the interwebz suggesting that this form of fructose is actually worse than high fructose corn syrup.

Did your vitamin water have erythritol added? That is also a sweetener, and after drinking vitamin water for days to combat dehydration, I realized i was getting sick (cramps, diarrhea) every day, and when I quit the vitamin water the pain and D stopped.

Google it...erythritol is notorious for causing this kind of trouble. Other sugar alcohols can do the same (mannitol, xylitol, etc.)

That I can! Gatorade makes me feel like I've been hit by a truck. Bloating, dull gut ache and all around lethargy. It also burns my throat, I don't honestly think its a gluten thing, but we quite obviously don't mesh lol I really don't like artificial sweeteners all that much, and I wonder if that is my problem. So I just don't drink it and very seldom do I drink something of that nature anymore, just gotten away from it I guess. Powerade doesn't do it to me though, so who knows...I would think their ingredients would be rather similar....

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.

Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system

Scott Adams. I was dealing with a DR that didn't care about me being celiac. I repeatedly told him that I was celiac and is everything gluten-free. He put an acrylic lens from j&j. I called the company to ask about gluten and was told yes that the acrylic they use has gluten....then they back tracked immediately and stopped talking to me. The Dr didn't care that I was having issues. It took me 6 months and a lot of sickness to get it removed.... which can only happen within 6 months. The Dr that took it out said that it was fused and that's why I lost vision. If they would have removed it right away everything would be fine. He put in a silicone one that was gluten-free and I've had no issues at all in the other eye. Do not do acrylic!
