  1. *cry* i do miss those luna bars. how are the clif nectar bars?
  2. First of all, QT Welcome to the forums! It's a great place to share and gain information, and we're happy you're here! Second, thanks everyone for your feedback. I have to say the preparation is the hardest part for me. Since this is my first time dealing w/ a full time job, I have found myself being very selfish w/ my free time, and cooking is...
  3. so i've been rather sloppy about things the last few months. and i've suffered for it. i just started this new job a couple months ago, first fulltime job, and it's been an adjustment. it's hard for me to find food to bring, so often i will just grab some wendys or chick-fil-a. which of course has had bad glutening consequences thanks to second-hand gluten...
  4. oh decisions...
  5. hm, interesting. glad you didn't get sick now if only we could all get guarantees that there's no second-hand gluten floating around the rest of the kitchen after the fries get fried
  6. I would recommend shopping at walmart, which I know is in Utah and probably in the other states as well. They have a store brand called Great Value, and clearly label everything as Gluten Free if it is. Also, look for Kraft food products. They're good about listing any gluten ingredients. As far as fast food, all I can say is Wendy's baked potato w/ sour...
  7. i've seen it at walmart, but would not recommend getting it. the last two times i ate it, i got very glutened. they no longer say "gluten free" on Amy's products. I personally don't eat them any more. Glutinos isn't AS good, but it still is pretty good, that's what I get now, or I make my own.
  8. Here ya go! My awesome bread crumb topping recipe: Open Original Shared Link Enjoy!!!
  9. i think i remember this...was it all sorts of berry flavors? drank something like it when i was a kid, remember the blue bottle. another good one is cucumber and honeydew water. i think when i tried it, they had mint in it too...but can't remember... good ol' fresh water is the best to me or on occasion fruit juice (100% fruit) like Naked Juices ...
  10. *cry* i didn't notice until after i'd done all my grocery shopping, and brought home our monthly stock of them. i don't know what to do. i might just stick w/ my fritos and let the husband eat them all. that pisses me off, b/c when i was dx'ed, mission chips were the first thing i discovered was gluten-free! i even wrote to mission and told them how happy...
  11. i agree. i was doing a research paper on celiac for a class, and found tons of books and articles at my school's library. i also wandered upon some good nutrition books, cook books, the works! it was a lot of reading
  12. i don't watch so much as i like browsing the website i love Giada and Paula's recipes Southern goodness and Italian food! Yum! I am always finding new recipes to print off!!
  13. OMG can i hire you to come cook at my house? that sounds absolutely divine! i'm so happy for you that the evening went well! it's always nice to have those positive moments. i still cry too when i crave pizza or when the girls at work go to my favorite pre-gluten-free places for lunch. you get used to it, but i don't think you ever stop hurting. i've been...
  14. thank you both for your quick replies. i've been sitting around feeling sorry for myself all morning, and i am feeling much better now. gfp- yeah, my plans in life aren't very set in stone. all i know is i want to have a family, and i want to be happy. other than that i'm open for pretty much anything. i think i've got the career thing figured out, it...
  15. ok, so i feel really lost right now. i don't know what i'm doing w/ my life, where i'm going, where i WANT to be going. i feel as though my life has just been a waste the last couple of years. i'm not happy w/ myself, or my marriage. i haven't really gone anywhere careerwise. i've quit 2 jobs, and i'm a 3rd year freshman in college. i have been holding onto...
  16. I don't think I glutened myself, b/c that is when I usually get fissures, but I've been very constipated, and I think that may have caused this one. Anyway, what's the best remedy for these? It's been almost half an hour since I went to the bathroom, and it still burns. Epsom/baking soda bath? Hemm cream? Neosporin? Witch hazel? What helps for you? And helps...
  17. awesome. where's the best place to buy a mill for grinding flour? which kind should i look for to make very fine flours? is it too much work to invest in a hand grinder for real emergency situations? should i get an electric one and a manual one?....
  18. great to know! how are you doing gfdan? here's my fave places to eat: los hermanos - provo (and af I think) my husband's friend works here and he told me that they have several gluten-free items. their fajitas are the only thing i can think of at the moment, cuz that's what I usually get. best chips and salsa ever! sizzler - provo/orem i know...
  19. so i have heard, it just helps your body all around. here's a pretty good website i found while researching. i have the info, i'll post it later (out the door to work right now). Open Original Shared Link
  20. check out my new sig i'm all over this one!!
  21. congrats to you both! it took me a long time to have much success w/ my gluten-free baking, which was disheartening as I have loved cooking since my childhood. just makes those successes that much *sweeter* hope you continue w/ that great luck!!
  22. dunno about you, but i usually start getting some serious stomach churning about 1/2 hour after eating gluten. then the gas starts....and lasts for several days. the only time i ever get confused is when i'm starting my period.... hope you get feeling better
  23. i recommend taking supplements. i take a calcium/vit d supp, and a vitamin b supp. also, make sure you're getting enough to eat. being a hypoglycemic, i had an especially hard time cutting out all my favorite glutenous carbs, and struggled to replace them. you want to make sure you're getting some carbs and proteins at every meal. ooh, and drink LOTS of water...
  24. Thanks Marianne for posting! I'm printing this out Did she talk about where the best places are to get the supplies? Or shelf life for products?
