  1. hm, i've gotten massages periodically over the years. i know it helps me a lot because i let my stress build up inside me, and it affects me physically. i always sleep better after a massage. the only time i didn't fully enjoy a massage was after being glutened, it hurt to lay on my bloated stomach for an hour. i have found that reflexology really helps...
  2. does the bread taste "beany"? i bought some chocolate chip cookie mix once, and when i made the cookies, all i could taste was that bitter chickpea flavor. i've been very hesitant have anything to do w/ bean flour since. i am excited though to try this bread, as i just got a full time job, and was looking for something to take w/ me for lunches!
  3. I know some people will argue w/ me about this one, but I loved the Gluten Free Bible by Jax Peters Lowell. It's a great book to help deal w/ the coping side of celiac disease. Some of the facts in there are false, but as far as a good book, it was entertaining and enlightening. It helped me change my attitude about "being sick".
  4. you can probably make pancakes w/ them. have you checked the brand's website? it may have a recipe to follow. if not, here's a link to eatingglutenfree.com they have great recipes. i bet you could just sub the mix for the one they suggest. Open Original Shared Link good luck!
  5. Right! I want to know about carmel color thx!
  6. NO! Don't go cold turkey! It makes you nuts! I did that once! My doctor had me reduce my dose over about 4 months before I could get off it. I had serious withdrawals, and was so sick!
  7. I am SO happy to say that I wasn't glutened over the holidays! I did however get glutened last night (ate McD's chicken in a salad)...and I'm pissed about it! What a way to go back to school and a new job! I was very surprised though that I didn't get glutened! Especially b/c the week before christmas I was in San Diego w/ my mom, and we ate out the whole...
  8. I'm so confused! I've just avoided anything that says caramel anything in it...but I've heard both positive and negative answers. So is it safe? If you have read somewhere, could you please link the source? Thanks so much!
  9. So I start tomorrow...I was pretty much handed the job, which was great! Anyway, my question is, where do I have to be careful in an office environment? Obviously goodies are an issue, as well as envelopes. What about gloves? Anything else?
  10. i seem to have a faint memory of making these as a child....hope they work out well, and i hope your throat gets better
  11. I have used witch hazel to help stop itching (just soak a cotton ball, and apply for several minutes). It sucks huh!
  12. When I asked for this printout - mentioning that I had been told by other Disneyland visitors that they had one - the desk guy said all they had was a list for other allergies (soy, milk, etc). But NOTHING gluten-free....I was very frustrated. Add the misunderstanding with the chef about the chicken (that almost glutened me...)...I was quite disappointed...
  13. hm, i was just there and my experience wasn't as great as i thought it would be. the city hall guy just told me that i needed to talk to whatever chef of the restaurant i was going to be eating at and see what they could do. i went to the buffet place, and the chef said he would cook me up some gluten-free mashed potatoes, and that the chicken only had spices...
  14. i bet you could make your own...frozen chocolate pudding! yum!
  15. mmm, good to know that it freezes well! i will have to make some big batches!
  16. I haven't eaten any of the things shes made, but I haven't had the heart to tell her I can't enjoy them. I've shared them w/ my husband and his family, who have said they're great. But I may have to deal w/ confronting the situation at a big dinner...and I don't want her to feel bad. I was thinking about giving her a travel card that I made up, and highlighting...
  17. He has had a bad cold/throat/cough thing the last couple of weeks. Went into the doctor right after christmas, was told he just had a virus, and would be better soon. Mostly now he just has the cough. What I'm concerned about is the fact that he's had horrible D for several days, where he's just running back and forth to the bathroom (night and day!). Is...
  18. another thing to do when nuking the tortillas is to cover them with a damp paper towel or napkin before heating. that keeps them moist. And I've found that the best tortillas out there are fresh-made ones that you can find at your local latin market. I watched mine get made before they were handed to me. Smell and taste SO good!
  19. That sounds sooo fun! I think I might have to convince my husband to be adventurous when planning our next vacation! I hope they do a good job for you! What a great trip! I don't think I've ever heard of a piercing there...sounds intruiging! Don't think it's my kind of thing though Hm, I must take a moment to vent, as this has been on my chest...
  20. What kind of effects? How did you end up in the hospital? Are you better?
  21. CONGRATS ANGIE!! Lol that sounds like it would be a fun party, except that here in utah everyone IS a redneck, and so we'd probably offend some people! haha! Sorry you can't go though Allergies suck! Husband and I will probably just spend it at home, maybe go out to dinner, then rent some movies or something. On New Year's Day though, we...
  22. I like fruitcake (a high quality one!). I also really like your picture I was glad however, to be able to turn down all those horrendously fattening and sugar loaded sweets that I really wouldn't have enjoyed even if I could have eaten them!!! Huzzah!
  23. have you been to belize before? how do you plan on accomodating a gluten-free diet there? sounds like a great trip! sound like some very cute pictures! it's always nice to have company for the holidays
  24. Here's the recipe from www.eatingglutenfree.com I have not tried it personally, but I can vouch for the recipes there, they are great! All turn out really well (those that I have tried). Scones do sound reallly good...with some chunky berry jam or something! Yum! Gluten Free Scones 4 c. featherlight mix 1 Tbs. xanthan gum 2 tsp. unflavored gelatin...
