  1. I have made that mistake before too...yuck! I even made the mistake of using corn meal instead of corn starch once...what a noob! lol As far as the flour goes, as long as you get it from a safe source, you should be okay with any of those flours. I know lots of health food stores sell their flours in bulk, which guarantees CC safety. Good luck!!
  2. That was one thing my husband didn't get until he actually went out to buy me a cake mix for my birthday. He told me that he was shocked at the prices...and I said, hm, now you know why I struggle on this budget. You know you don't want to go back to being sick all the time. See if you can incorporate naturally gluten-free foods into your diet, making...
  3. yay! that is fun! I want to get a cute lunch box, like an old tin one
  4. Sometimes I work myself up to a horrible state when I know I've had gluten. Just try and relax, have medicine nearby, and try not to worry. I usually only get the gas and bloat when I get glutened...which I am suffering through right now (see my post)...so I feel your pain Hope the flight goes well!!!
  5. I get ill a lot from greasy foods too, I think. Even when they are gluten-free...sometimes just the unhealthiness gets to me.
  6. So I've spent some time on another forum (which will remain nameless), and I've shared some personal problems...all I ever seem to get from the people there are criticisms. They just have no regard for how their words make me feel. I'm just happy that I have you all to vent to and help me through my problems in a constructive way! You all rock!
  7. i use mccormicks too
  8. This diet is so frustrating sometimes!! I think I got either glutened or food poisoned at taco bell...all I had were the pinto beans w/ cheese, and i had my own chips at home. Got pretty sick from that. Then, I either got sick from chic-fil-a's fries (which I have eaten numerous times and been fine...) or else I got CC from making tacos (flour tortillas for...
  9. hear lots of good things about disney! they rock! now if only PAYING for a trip were as easy as planning food

i'm pretty sure jamba is safe. i've had a few myself, and not reacted. don't know about the mixins though.
  11. Is this something I should talk w/ my doctor about before taking? Is it expensive?
  12. Here's the link: Open Original Shared Link Enjoy! also on the page, below the recipes, is a paper I wrote on celiac disease for my bio class.
  13. Yeah, I don't touch amy's anymore. Got VIOLENTLY ill last time I ate it. Too bad too, cuz I liked having frozen dinners already made. Oh well, such is life. I dreamed the other night about Jiffy's Blueberry Muffins...I grew up on those. Wish I could make my own, but how do you substitute those artificial blueberries!
  14. Wow! I guess sometimes it takes getting that sick to convince people that something's wrong! Glad he's doing better!
  15. lol my MIL throws tantrums! she's so b*tchy sometimes! thank goodness i don't have to live w/ her anymore! i really hope gram comes around...we all gave my sister a hard time about being "lactose intolerant" when she was like 10, but to this day she still maintains she is...and now that i have my dx, i think i might know why....
  16. thanks so much guys, i'm so excited! and with this list, i should be set on places to eat
  17. My husband was born in Germany, spent a few years there He's trying to teach me german.
  18. Lymetoo...we had a gluten-free cookie exchange last week, and I ate the best, moistest brownies! I will post the recipe. What can you not tolerate? I will get that recipe for peppermint bark up too, when I get a chance
  19. Dragging this back up, as I'm getting ready to go (okay, I don't leave for 9 days, but I'm excited...can't you tell???). Any other good places to eat? I'm a bit nervous...
  20. you know what pisses me off? we didn't go to my husband's holiday dinner (nothing I could eat, it was premade), and turns out they gave everyone there a $100 gift card to costco. I sure could have used that! oh the injustices we suffer!
  21. Check out: www.pacificcoastrestaurants.com for some good grub! Some very high class restaurants in the NW. Stanford is great, as is the grill, and Newport Bay. Good luck! Try and stay dry
  22. You totally should! And then, after everyone says how yummy it looks, tell them you can eat EVERYTHING in it! What a great idea! I will probably do that if I get anything I can't eat or DH won't eat. Hopefully everyone who is thinking of bringing me anything will be considerate enough to remember that I can't eat normal stuff! I hear ya though...
  23. Yay for Betsy! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy! I told my mom she needs one too! lol!
  24. My husband still eats white bread, frozen burritos and frozen waffles. When he wants any of these, he has to get them himself, and I nag him to put things on a plate, use his butter, etc. It works out pretty well. I do a lot of cooking using naturally gluten free things like rice, potatoes, corn tortillas (chips are a staple for us!)....look for recipes here...
  25. lol good for you! man, people just don't know where to keep their noses! we have every right to respond to someone being rude by being rude ourselves...or BLUNT, if you rather I am not gonna let anyone give me crap anymore!!
