ARCHIVED Science To Research On Soy With Eggs And Chicken
Gemini replied to John Burlingame's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
John........this is a topic that has been discussed spiritedly on this forum in the past and what it boils down to is that it is not recognized or supported by any leading Celiac researchers or organizations. In other words, anyone with a reputable background in Celiac Disease would not support this theory. Celiac's do not have to be wary of grain fed chickens... -
ARCHIVED Eye Problems?
Gemini replied to Strawberry-Jam's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Strawberry! It's been awhile since we have heard from you. I hope things are going well but for this eye problem....... Do your eyes feel overly dry? Do you have mouth dryness? I ask because Sjogren's Syndrome is common with Celiac and it can cause vision problems and eye pain. I have Sjogren's myself so thought I would start there. I don't mean...- 4 replies

ARCHIVED Being Glutened By Supplements?
Gemini replied to Rhobhan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
We don't know whether this doctor read any studies or not. From the sound of what he said to the OP, it sounds like he is the same as many doctors out there who aren't Celiac. They really don't know what they are talking about. I totally understand labeling laws and that meds and supplements do not have the same rules as food companies must abide by BUT... -
ARCHIVED Being Glutened By Supplements?
Gemini replied to Rhobhan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Unless I am mssing something here, your "study" is about herbal supplements, not vitamins. Big difference. To the OP......I think the statement your doc made about supplements being contaminated even if they are labeled gluten free is a bit of a stretch. I take all of the supplements you listed and have never had a problem. I would suggest making sure... -
ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...
Gemini replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
YES! This, eating well, exercise and digestive enzymes are the basics for Celiac healing. This takes longer than being plied with medications but it's tried and true. -
That would make me very happy, says the 5'4" woman who would love to be at least half a foot taller! Congratulations, Ruth......you get the gold star on your forehead for learning the ropes correctly!

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Help With School Policy
Gemini replied to HappyPlace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
OMG...this one nearly had me choking on some fruit I was eating!!!! As there is no legitimate source on the subject of super sensitivity, and we now have a whole section devoted to a subject that is not recognized by any legitimate Celiac organization or doctor, do you want to explain to me why you answered StephanieL in the manner you did, when she... -
ARCHIVED Hormones, Hashi's And Celiac- How Does This All Work Together?
Gemini replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Colleen is such a wealth of good information! She is correct....having multiples is harder and I went through some trying times early on trying to get everything balanced. It's that time thing again. Eating well, paying attention to the thyroid problem right now, and exercise when you feel better is important. I would say I entered a higher level of feeling...- 144 replies

ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...
Gemini replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There is no proof that cutting out all grains will help a person heal faster. I did not and continued to heal on a slow, even keel. Healing takes what it takes in each person and, unless you figure out that you have an additional food allergy or intolerance to a certain food/grain, there is no reason to. Especially if you were like me, a classic Celiac... -
ARCHIVED Hormones, Hashi's And Celiac- How Does This All Work Together?
Gemini replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Your antibody levels could very well have been higher but may have come down a bit with the increased dosage. I don't think you are there yet, though. The endo may not make a big deal out of the elevated antibody level because it isn't that high but it is important. You should be able to lower it into normal, over time. If you don't mind me asking...- 144 replies

Gemini replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am heading out to do errands this afternoon but will post later on in early evening. This is all good........you are getting results that will help to figure it all out. But yes, in a nutshell, your antibodies are elevated for Hashi's.- 144 replies

ARCHIVED Scientists Discover How To ‘Switch Off’ Autoimmune Diseases

I'll see what I can do. If you see a news blurb about a theft from a Bristol lab, then you know you'll be getting a package in the mail. LOL! -
ARCHIVED Scientists Discover How To ‘Switch Off’ Autoimmune Diseases
Gemini replied to squirmingitch's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'm headed to the UK for a vacation in 3 weeks......where do I sigh up for this?????????? Use me as a guinea pig because I have 4 AI diseases, 3 of which I would dump in a heartbeat! This is what research should be doing. AI diseases are rampant and cause a lot of misery for people. -
It's love2travel.........she's back!!!!!!!!!! Missed you on here......how are things in your new country? I drive an hour from my house to have gluten free fried clams with fries and onion rings about twice a year. It is not a dedicated place but the family which have run this business for years, have Celiac family members and do this out of love. ...

ARCHIVED Half A**ed Diagnosis.. Not Sure If I Am Actually Celiac
Gemini replied to lmj623's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
See what I mean? BAAAAAAACON! Yum! I have been gluten-free for over 9 years so I don't have minor glutenings anymore. I do not eat out that much at all but have established places to go when I do eat out that always get it right. I am very sensitive so usually know when I have sustained a hit. When you are first healing, it may take longer to come... -
ARCHIVED Half A**ed Diagnosis.. Not Sure If I Am Actually Celiac
Gemini replied to lmj623's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You'll do fine with it all because I see a sense of humor in there! Thanksgiving is easier than you think. Delicious gluten free dressing is easy to make and so isn't gravy. Those are really the big concerns with doing turkey dinner. There are some fabulous cooks on here who give great advice! -
ARCHIVED My Hair Is A Mess From Gluten-Free Conditioners!
Gemini replied to egger's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Is your hair straight or curly? I do body perms on my hair because I have the straightest hair in the world.....really. I also color my hair so pretty much torture it. I use this: Open Original Shared Link You only need a tiny amount to work through your hair and it is a leave in conditioner, which you should use if your hair is damaged. I love... -
ARCHIVED Half A**ed Diagnosis.. Not Sure If I Am Actually Celiac
Gemini replied to lmj623's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
With a DQ2 gene, you have the predisposition for developing full blown Celiac. With what you have described, it sounds like that has already happened. One thing I always say to people who don't have a definitive diagnosis is.....if you are that sick when you eat gluten and have the genetics for it......high risk genetics to boot......why would you do a... -
ARCHIVED Abnormal Screening Mammogram...worried
Gemini replied to icelandgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think it could and the reason could just be out of control inflammation. Canker sores would be more obvious because your mouth is the start of the digestive tract. But most illnesses start with inflammation so there could be a possiblity of it causing many other things. I doubt there would be any studies done on it, though. There is no money in Celiac... -
ARCHIVED Abnormal Screening Mammogram...worried
Gemini replied to icelandgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know how you feel. Years ago, pre-celiac diagnosis, I kept getting canker sores, which is common for celiac people. I also have Sjogren's so that may have contributed to the problem also. Well....I had one that was not healing and I am usually a fast healer. My dentist freaked out at about the 3 month mark and sent me to an oral surgeon because, of... -

ARCHIVED Finally Broke Down And Filed A Complaint
Gemini replied to beth01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I understand your complaints and agree with most of what you say but there is this thing called reality that always gets in the way. Your work ethics have nothing to do with what everyone else does. It isn't right and does not bode well for the future but that is what you are dealing with. There is not much in the way of customer service or patient service... -
ARCHIVED Finally Broke Down And Filed A Complaint
Gemini replied to beth01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you have never had to wait for 3-5 days for a Rx refill, consider yourself lucky and don't expect that to be the norm. Doctors offices are generally understaffed and now that a flood of people have been added to the insurance rolls, expect things to grind to an annoying halt in future. Also, if you call too much, they view you as a pain in the ass and...
