L.A., I missed that post, I will go back and look for it. I don't know if there is a direct relation or not. I do know that my allergy to grasses makes my nose run and get congested when I accidently get glutened, though.
-
You don't have to swallow the mucus, nor do you have to be congested. When your sinuses are overproducing mucus, so are the rest of your mucus-producing membranes. This includes the lining of the colon. It apparently is just sitting around in your colon waiting for a bowel movement, that is why it looks like clumps.

ARCHIVED Beano Commercial Mentions Whole Grain Breads
plantime replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Beano is made from mold. If you are allergic to mold, it will make you sick. -
For a child to have it, in this day and age, can be very serious, perhaps deadly. The risk of contamination, between day care, school, and friends houses, is very high. Perhaps that is why it was considered to be a deadly disease by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

That's why I suggested taking half of what is recommended. Iron overdoses can be fatal. Talk to your doctor, see what he suggests. -
ARCHIVED Kellogg's Has Bad Info On Their Website
plantime replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The last time I looked at Lucky Charms, they had wheat listed at the tail end of the ingredients list. I'll have to see if that has changed. -
I agree with the possible allergen. When my nose is runny beyond belief, I find a >lot< of mucus in my stools. It could also be excess fat. Did you eat anything fatty or greasy?

ARCHIVED Liver Cause Of Celiac Did Anyone See This Site?!
plantime replied to Webcrystal's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh, please, Merlin, quote the whole sentence! You left out the part about the debris being flushed out (of the bile duct, not the liver) does not mean the liver has been cleansed. None of what you are saying means the liver has been cleansed, it only means the bile duct is being emptied. There is a big difference. I would also like to point out that had... -
I don't think it's gluten. I have the same reaction, and it is just a common reaction to the adhesive. Next time you have scratches, try just smearing some antibiotic ointment on them and leaving them uncovered. That is how I treat my cat scratches after bathtime!

ARCHIVED Elisa/act Test

Ditto Jerseyangel. The delayed reactions are why the journal is so necessary. -
ARCHIVED Elisa/act Test
plantime replied to Mamato2boys's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is a difference between IgE and IgG, and it does matter. How a person feels on a day-to-day basis is very important. If you don't think so, try being run down, achey, and depressed for a few months, then have a day of feeling fantastic. You will see the difference. If certain foods are causing the run down, achey, depressed feeling, then you need... -
Sounds like you need some {{{hugs}}}!! You know what you have to do to feel better, now you just need to do it. Maybe hitting rock bottom is what you need to do to motivate yourself. Get yourself a partner that will hold you accountable with no fudging allowed.

ARCHIVED Help! Need Positive Blood Work For Doctors Note
plantime replied to tiffjake's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Seems to me a note from your original doc stating gluten intolerance should suffice. A note from a doc stating lactose intolerance would be accepted! -
ARCHIVED Liver Cause Of Celiac Did Anyone See This Site?!
plantime replied to Webcrystal's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When I had my gallbladder removed, I asked the doctor about the formation of stones. He said they were all either hardened cholesterol or calcium. He also said that they do not form in the liver, but have been known to form in the bile duct where it connects to the liver. Many times, when removing a gallbladder, stones have had to be removed from the bile... -
ARCHIVED Elisa/act Test
plantime replied to Mamato2boys's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am biopsy-diagnosed celiac with multiple food intolerances. I have discovered most of the ones I know of by trial-and-error. I spoke to my doc about the ELISA test, and she is looking around to see if she can find an allergist that will order it for me so my insurance will cover it. The ELISA test does not look for IgE responses, it looks for IgG responses... -
ARCHIVED Chronic Anemia
plantime replied to trents's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I recommend you check the maximum dosage allowed for a male of your age and size, and supplement daily with half of that. That is what I was told to do by my doc years ago to treat my anemia. He said that way, I wouldn't overdose, but could still have the benefits of iron all the time. As long as you are careful about the daily dosage, you should be able... -
ARCHIVED Digestive Enzymes
plantime replied to kbtoyssni's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I tried digestive enzymes. They did absolutely nothing to stop any celiac reactions. They did help food digest better, and I eliminated much easier, but that is all. -
Strep will drain your energy in a heartbeat. Even if it is only in your throat, it somehow affects all of your body. The amoxycillin is killing off the strep, so your body can use your energy for something other than fighting the strep. I'm glad you are feeling so much better!

ARCHIVED The Restaurant At Stone Hill Winery

I like their wine. -
Ok, veteran sinusitis sufferer here. You might think this is gross, but it totally works! take 1 cup of warm water, stir in two tablespoons of table salt. Stand over the bathroom sink, and snort the warm salt water up your nose. DO NOT SWALLOW IT! Hold it in your sinuses for a minute, then blow it out into the sink. Do this every four hours, to both...

MtLady, what is preventing you from exercising? If we know that, someone might have "been there, done that, wore out the t-shirt" and be able to help you. Yesterday, I went to a jewelry party, and put on an outfit that was too tight a month ago. It fit absolutely perfect! I still have not lost any pounds, I am stuck at 192.5, but as long as the inches...

ARCHIVED Gaining Weight When I Exercise...is It Causing Problems With My Metabolism And Celiac
plantime replied to jennifervan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Exercise would cause a weight gain if you are building muscle. It would not cause your hair to fall out. -
I get migraines now right before my period, so I take Maxalt for that. For the mood swings, mine have always been bad. Lexapro evens it out for me. I don't like taking drugs for stuff, but sometimes it is the only recourse.

Welcome Paula and MtLady! I have found that eating the gluten-free substitutes makes me gain weight fast, so I have cut them out. For fiber and carbs, I eat a lot of veggies and fruits. I eat a chocolate bar or ice cream for a treat, but I am trying to cut back on them a lot. I am doing Weight Watchers online, and found that if I truly and honestly track...
